As petrichor says, we're a lovely bunch of peeps here. If you'd like to stick with us, maybe you'd like to join the 2lb club. There's a short explaination of what it is here.
bails I'm finding it very difficult to keep myself occupied at the minute. The last surgery I had was a c-section for DS. Also abdominal surgery, but I had a small baby to look after and was kept very busy. I wasn't given any advice on how to look after myself and ended up with a haematoma along my wound and never regained the feeling from my scar to halfway up to my navel. I'm really trying to look after myself but I'm finding it very trying.
Well done missyg - You're only on here one day and have lost nearly 3lbs! That's fantastic.bails & kpc I'm sorry you've fallen off the wagon a bit. You'll get back on track again soon.
justmarried I'm really sorry to hear about your heating problems. Is it very cold where you are? I know that poundstretchers/at home are doing some electric heaters for about £6. If you bought one or two it may do in an emergency?
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
Swap box received - many thanks to the sender and I look forward to opening it on 31st October.
KPC - how many people are doing the swap boxes, out of interest?0 -
Welcome wilroda
newlywed sorry to hear about your heating and well done on the 1lb loss:D
Talking about keeping things, I also kept and often still wear a pink belt with a lovely large buckle on, I had to pierce the very tip of it with a knife to be able to wear it, I really love it and did not want to get rid of it, now it goes on the 7th hole, constantly wearing it reminds me:D
delly yes I am very lucky at the boot fair, there is no way I could afford the Wallis and principles stuff I have now if I had to go and buy it in the shops, I was also lucky enough to be given a wallis suit the other day to wear on rememberance sunday, it is soft grey with a tailored fitted jacket and skirt and it is lovely, I went on the website out of curiosity and it cost £90 for just the jacket:eek:
All my good clothes, the ones that cost a lot and had little use out of them I sold them all on ebay, the ones that were just my 'making do' clothes because I could not find anything else that fitted I gave to the charity shops and the ones that were so ancient they needed help I put in the bin!!0 -

Hi again
Thanks so much for the welcome and encouragement!
Bails - it makes sense now ( the achy thighs!!) I am just back from a brisk walk with the dog so that should help. Have decided not to go to the gym today, will go on wed instead.....during the day.....when it is quiet.....when i dont feel too embarrased being there!
Does anyone else feel like me about going to the gym? It really is a big problem and I am sure it stops others from taking the plunge. You imagine that everyone there is slim and fit and staring at you as you walk in.
This is a hurdle i need to get over but i was pleasantly surprised on saturday when i went - all different shapes-sizes-and ages were there and to be honest i am sure nobody took any notice of me.
I am tempted to try aquafit at some point, but i think it is best to stick with lots of dog walking, exercise at work and the gym for now. This has to be sustainable and i dont want to over do it!0 -

Hello,
I'm with you on the feeling like a fish out of water whist at the gym. The key thing to remember is that everyone there is probably thinking exactly the same thing (except the macho macho dudes in the weights corners...they are thinking...look at me lovely laydeees)
Stick with it and you will soon come to enjoy it and even miss it when you don't go. I haven't lost that much to date as I am too stubborn and disorganized to stick to any diet for long but I do find the exercise helps keep me happy and optimistic as well as toning up. I had a similar predicament last week where I had over done it a bit so I skipped one day and even though they still hurt when I was due to go again I went and made everything much more enjoyable by taking it easier...the next day I didn't have a single twinge...you just need to gauge how you feel and then ease back into it.
Aquafit is great fun, give it a go! at the end of the day you have nothing to lose! if you can take a friend then even better as the giggling will burn a few extra calories.0 -
I hate the thought of going to the gym as well so was really pleased when my mum & dad converted one of their out buildings into a gym so now when I visit I spend 20 mins in her gym which is great. Didn't get in there on thurs though we were too busy talking but we all went round yesterday cos my OH had to wire in some electric sockets for them so I went in the gym while i was there & took my little one for a walk to feed the ducks so I didn't have too much guilt when mum cooked roast lamb & apple pie for tea last night. Today not had much time to be naughty I've just put my 6th load of washing on and decided that I would start potty training my daughter today too so constantly asking if she needs a wee. She's doing well though 1 wee on the potty & 1 accident in the garden when she came outside to help me hang the washing out must have been the cold need coffee now if I can swallow it or taste it had toncilitis since friday now turning into a cold. Oh I like my mum's scales they said yesterday that I've lost another 3lb but will see when I go to boots on wednesday!!!Life is like a box of chocs ..... i've got a soft centre but I ate the whole box.

I personally do not go to the gym but I know other people who do and they say the same as you, that there are all ages, types, sizes there and to be honest they are there for the same reason as you, to get healthy, loose weight, be toned, have the exercise, burn the calories...
I have been swimming where there are all shapes and sizes and the same applies...it is the good you are after as in the exercise and weight burning calories so try not to bother about what everyone else is doing or looking like and just concentrate on you, any exercise is good for you.
I go walking, cycling and play sports with the kids, it is all good, no one is there to judge you, just be you and even better you may meet some lovely people there and get some good friends out of it:D0 -

The heating thing wouldn't be quite so annoying if it wasn't the end of the month with only just (is there a fingers crossed smiley?) enough electric on the meter to last till payday - costs £1 a bath to heat the water on electric instead  If we do that for 4 days then there's nothing left to light the flat, cook tea or boil a kettle  At least the £5 on the gas card should last now
I've lodged a complaint about the fact they never told me I'd have to be in for 24 hours and the fact that now we have 2 kids and have to wait up to 5 days for the contractor to sort it out. If it's not done by Friday then I'll be livid :mad:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
