Morning all. Bit stressed today, not had a chance to read all the posts. Boiler has packed up and the HA repairs line says 5 working days - because when I logged it as emergency no-one told me I had to guarantee to be at home for at least 24 hours  If they'd told me then I'd have rung work and stayed in, but they didn't say anything like that at all - just said I should expect a phone call from the contractor

In fact it needs more of these things      to even come close to how annoyed I am that we have no heating for "up to" 5 days with 2 kids in the house

Other than that... I just wanted to report a 1lb loss this week which means I have now lost over 1 stone since 1 July :D and am only ½ lb away from a "healthy" BMI range ;)

Thanks petrichor and congrats on your own fantastic weight loss!

What have you all been doing about new clothes? I've only bought a few new items while the weight has been coming off, but now I think it's time for the Big Sort Out... I'm tempted to literally Freecycle/Charity Shop/Textile Bank anything that's more than 1 size too big, but replacing even just the essentials is going to be expensive. Any tips?

Loads of posts to catch up on already so before I forget - why don't you sell them on Ebay? That way they're no longer cluttering up your drawers/lying there for you to fit into again and you can make some cash to splash on your new wardrobe! I'm also following Petrichor's idea of putting the money aside that I would have spent going to a class and I'm going to use that to get some new clothes. Maybe not so relevant for you missyg with only a little to go before your target but may be good for others.

Oh and Petrichor, definitely get yourself on Freecycle - I'm one of the Bath moderators and it really is ace!! You can choose who you give your suits to so you can make sure they go to a lovely new home.

    Right back to the thread...

Well done on losing two stones already :T I'm afraid can't help you with the gym stuff but one of our gym bunnies will be here later to give you their valued advice, although I must say that I was interested in your GP giving you a referral form, do you know if you have to have a special reason for this? Anyway, stick with us and no doubt you will be able to give us the benefit of your hard work as well:j ...

Petrichor - I'm not saying that the folks on freecycle aren't grateful but I've heard that people take stuff to sell it on e-bay later rather than use and pass on when they no longer need the item.(which is the ethos of freecycle)

The official ethos of Freecycle is only to save things from landfill. Whilst I understand that some people don't want their stuff to go to a car booter etc, you always have the choice as to who to give your stuff to. You can state in your post that you don't want replies from those people (in a nice way of course!) but there is no rule saying that people cannot sell on what they get. Some people specifically ask for car booters etc as they are having a big clear out and want someone who is willing to come and take the lot. At the end of the day, it clears out your clutter, saves landfill and you can decide who is worthy of your things - a win, win, win!:D

Quick, petrichor, this is your moment to seize the list making initiative: make a list of all those brilliant ideas so that if we do the swap boxes again you're sorted!!:D
As for your swapee not liking it: well of course, only you know (and the all powerful swapbox god kpc) who the recipient is - do they strike as an ungrateful comudgeon? Nah, of course they will like it: the fun is in getting the parcel and knowing someone put the effort in. If I get one thing I like that'll be one more than my OH manages every birthday so what a bonus eh?:rotfl: :rotfl:

I'll be posting it on Wednesday with any luck to can't wait for it to arrive - ooooh the suspense is killing me!

    Morning everyone

I just did my weigh in and pleased to report a 2¾lb loss this week which takes me under my goal weight AND under the 9st mark for the first time in about 15 years! I've gone from 27 BMI to 22 BMI :D I'm so happy!

I am probably going to set myself a new goal of another half stone off by Christmas, but I also want to concentrate on some serious toning up now.

Thanks for the chat about clothes. You're right dellybelly, I don't want to give myself the option of fitting back into them again so they must go! I will do it today, followed by a swift trip to M&S to stock up on a few basics! I agree with others who mention ebaying the designer items petrichor - it would be a pity not to try to get a little of your money back if you can.

I do like victory's idea of keeping one pre-weight-loss pair of trousers :D (and looking at your stats in your sig - wow congratulations!)

Hi wilroda, I'm new on here too! Well done on your weight loss so far and gym workout, you'll probably find it gets easier and less achy from now on. As you have already left it a day I don't think there's any reason not to go back today. Tell the instructor you're still fragile from the last one and see what he/she says. They might suggest a slightly easier pace this time, followed by a tougher one the next time. Good luck :)

Right I'm off to do the wardrobe thing! Have a great day everyone!

Hi properly everyone and welcome to Wilroda!

Already forgotten what I wanted to say, hang on...

Oh yes - Delly, what a great weekend you had, and I love that smilie! Puts a big grin on my face just looking at it and thinking about the leaves:D Sorry to hear you're not healing as well as you'd hoped and how frustrated you are at not being able to do so much - several of us can definitely empathise with that! Try to focus on the fun things you can do that you might usually not get the chance to - you might surprise yourself.

    Wilroda,
congratulations on your impressive weight loss so far, we can certainly help you shift that last stone! I'm not sure I count as one of the 'gym bunnies' but this might help: it is perfectly normal for your muscles to hurt two days after exercise - sometimes they will hurt a little (or not at all) on the first day after exercise and then kill on the 2nd! This is due to lactic acid build up, again perfectly normal. It will help to massage the areas that are particularly painful (gently but as firmly as you can handle without screaming in agony!) as this will stimulate the release of these toxins. I would say that if you really are in pain then leave the gym for now - if this is your first time doing this type of exercise in a while then your body will need longer to recover initially - it's probably in shock! Also, make sure you're honest with your instructor - if you feel that the programme they've set you is too much then get them to adapt it to your level; you can always work up from that but you won't be able to do anything if you injure yourself!

If you're still biting at the bit then perhaps a bit of cross training is the answer - instead of the gym, try a swim which won't put so much strain on your body but still gives you a good workout. A nice walk with lots of deep breaths will really help shift that lactic acid too. And don't forget, it's really important to let your body repair and recover from exercise; that's how it gets stronger. When using weights, you actually break your muscle down and it needs time to build itself back up (a little stronger each time). Please don't worry that weights/resistance work will make you bulk up, this is a complete myth - my ex-fiance was a body builder and trust me, it takes severe effort to grow large muscles!!:D If you're really brave, you could try an ice bath but this is probably taking it too far!

KPC, I am most definitely in the naughty corner with you today so no need to feel alone! I am having a good day today though, well focused so hopefully can keep it up.

Newlywed, sorry to hear about your heating, what a nightmare! Any chance you can log it again and tell them you'll be in tomorrow? Well done on the weightloss though, fantastic news!!:T

As I mentioned, I dragged myself out of bed this morning, despite being v tired, to make my weekly relaxation class - might sound an odd thing to do but this class is awesome! The instructor has had my illness too so she can relate v well to me and gears exercises towards helping me recover. I found out today she does a couple of other classes elsewhere that I can get to so I'm going to include them in my plan, yippee!!

Benefits have sent me a review form which I'm v annoyed about - they're really long and I've only just updated my info when I moved!! I phoned to see if I can get out of it (it's a random selection thing) but they said no, depsite explaining about my disability! I can't WAIT to get out of this system...

Off for a break then this afternoon I'm going to place my first matched bet hopefully! :jHave a good day x

who the recipient is - do they strike as an ungrateful comudgeon?

No way! :rotfl: Although you made me think that whoever got me was perhaps worried, but I'm actually quite an easy going person, so don't worry who ever you are :D ...
the fun is in getting the parcel and knowing someone put the effort in. If I get one thing I like that'll be one more than my OH manages every birthday so what a bonus eh?:rotfl: :rotfl:

Hah! Our OH's could be one and the same :rotfl: I got a toothbrush this year for my birthday from him, okay it was one of the good electric ones, but it's blue  and I've never used a blue toothbrush in my life. I'm a pink toothbrush, your a blue toothbrush dah dah dah dah dah dah etc :rotfl: ...

...I'll not mention Christmas presents  :rotfl: ...

...Bails A very good post, but then again you have run marathons, so it's good to have this straight from the horse's mouth as it were. NOT THAT I'M SAYING THAT YOU RESEMBLE A HORSE :rotfl: NO! NO! :) Crumbs that could have been tricky! :o Well done on forcing yourself out of bed, it can be jolly hard can't it!!...

...Well done missyg that is really excellent :j :j the next half stone may be a tiny bit slower in shifting, but with a little determination you'll manage it :D Good luck with your shopping, I bought a new bra from M&S at the weekend, 34B, haven't been that for years...
