I'm not on a formal plan, but I basically count calories, stick to 3 meals a day with no snacking, and make sure those meals are balanced and healthy. One of the most motivating things I've found has been keeping a strict food diary.

With exercise I've been trying different things, but for the past two weeks I've been doing at least 30mins per day. When (not if!) I reach my goal, I want to carry on toning up and obviously making sure I don't gain the weight back again....

Hi missyg 1498dnb.gifand welcome to our lovely gang of fatbusters, although it seems that you've already got it everything well under control :j and size 8 trousers :j :j blimey! but congratulations :T I've lost my weight in a similar way to you, found that it fitted in well with the rest of the family...

...Bb I was interested in what you said about list making and I think that it's something worth trying as I am so disorganised at the moment, I start to do something then get distracted and start another thing and so on, and so on, and then nothing gets done eg DD's trousers are still untouched :o I'm at my wits end and it's all my own fault. Oh crumbs, I've just mentioned the list thingy stuff to DD and she's going to sort me out (the little madam:rotfl: ). Have you poked or prodded your parcel?:rotfl: :rotfl: ...

...Beanie I hope you enjoyed your Chinese, it's been about 2 years since I had one, and I don't think I could face one now:confused: perhaps I've finally reformed my eating habits :j ...

I'm not suprised the trousers remain undone: it's a horrid job that you don't want to do: sadly, making alist doesn't make trousers magically take themselves up :rotfl: However, lists still focus my mind and the drive to cross thing off can help. In a perfect world, you do your list, and divide it into priorities i.e: those that must be done today, tomorrow, then this week. These that need to be done today obviously need to be tackled first and it's like the exercise debate: just do it. Perhaps one horrid job, then a couple of quickie jobs. Or set a time (I've got one of those big egg timers that's actually for fish or something that I found in a second hand market: I turn it over and I have 15 minutes to have a mad house cleaning frenzy, or tidy the clutter shelf or sort bills, whatever.)
I've also recenty started using the tasks' bit of outlook express, so when I log on everyday it pings and reminds me of todays priorities. I was finding I was getting lots of scraps of paper with different list on and mislaying them!

I certaining have poked, prodded and smooched my parcel :lovethoug

Thanks petrichor and congrats on your own fantastic weight loss!

What have you all been doing about new clothes? I've only bought a few new items while the weight has been coming off, but now I think it's time for the Big Sort Out... I'm tempted to literally Freecycle/Charity Shop/Textile Bank anything that's more than 1 size too big, but replacing even just the essentials is going to be expensive. Any tips?
  • f569mo.gifmissyg . Well done on your weighloss so far. I can't imagine you'd have many problems getting the last 1 or 2 lbs off.

I can't advise you on the best way to buy clothes. At the minute, I'm just getting as I need as cheaply as possible (I'm finding Matalan and MK one quite good). As for getting rid of the clothes that are too big - JUST DO IT!The temptation to slide back into them may be too great. I'm not saying that you'll fail to maintain your weightloss but just in case, if the only clothes you have are the ones that fit you now, you'll be more likely to get back on track if you literally have nothing else to wear.

I have a confession to make - I am a terrible list maker. As in I'm always making lists. My favourite is shopping lists. I find I spend so much less on groceries if I only stick to my list which is based on my menu plan. and I'm currently listing the things I need/want to do for DS's second birthday party. He's 2 on 30th October but I'm having his party the following Saturday. So far I've listed the children to be invited and the food I'm going to make. Next is the list of activities I'm going to have for the party and then I'll list the party bags. I've decided to have an Elmo themed party for him as it's his current favourite. - I could go on but I think I've gone far enough for now.

I've had a brilliant weekend. Yesterday we took DS and Sasha to the park... there was loads of this5ycajd.gif going on. Had a walk round and then decided to teach DS how to run/roll down hills. (sorry, but I really had to use that smilie - and we really did too!).

Of course, it wasn't me rolling down hills. I'm still on too much medication and I haven't healed as well as I'd hoped.

Today DS was at a birthday party in a local kids adventure playground. Then when we came home we lit the fire and have had loads of visitors. (Mum, Dad, 2 SiL and 4 cousins). I won't tell you all what we gave them to eat but DS really enjoyed the company.

Oh and as for chinese food. For those on WW it's actually one of the better takeouts to get. If you want, I can get the link for points values.

Here's hoping for a good week for everyone. (and feathers for those who ask!).10fqhc6.gif

I've given most of my stuff to charity collections, but I must admit that I'm loathe to part with a couple of items :o both Precis Petite, a trouser suit that I only wore once for DD's first graduation and a silk suit that, again, has only been worn once. They were quite dear and are so nice, but they are size 12 and way too big for me now. I shall have to be brave and get rid of them, but the local charity shops look like flea tips, I don't care what price they sell for, I just want them to go to a good home :o and I don't think that they would from there. However, I firmly believe that it is best to get rid of ALL the clothes that are now too big, I've kept stuff before when I lost weight and ended up growing back into them (plus). I shall investigate this freecycle thingy, and try to be a brave Petrichor :rotfl: ...

As for new clothes, I bought new stuff in the summer size 10 shorts etc :j but I've not yet bought anything for autumn/winter and now that it's turned cooler, I'm in desperate need of sweaters and winter weight trousers...

...delly Your day sounded lovely :j , I love walking through dry leaves too, and it's perfect weather for it at the moment...

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/noreenblackett/chinesejapanese.htm

has all the WW points for both chinese and japanese meals, I have not had one this year at all, not something I fancy anymore, think about it but don't have it;)

Lists, I live off lists, I make xmas lists in September, birthday lists 2 months before, shopping lists and then forget them at home and walk aimlessly round the supermarket hoping to remember what it is I can't live without:rotfl: :rotfl: , there are lists in my handbag, lists in the kitchen, lists in the bedroom:rotfl: :rotfl:

sorry the link page just tried it and it does not work but it is in the website-my long and bumpy journey, a new me... maybe if you put that in google it will come up, lists every restaurant, every point value, it is very helpful, the web page says !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/noreenblackett/brewersfayre.htm but then comes up as an error so do not know why, anyway it is an excellent website for points value to everything...

I have been very lucky with new clothes, very lucky indeed, for the first time in my life I have all wallis, principles, top shop, all brand new clothes from the boot fair every sunday, brand new tagged and at ridiculous prices, so each week I get a bag full of all sorts, jackets, jeans, tops and what no longer fits give to charity, my mother, friends, I kept one pair of black trousers that are now huge but every time I cannot see the point, they are my saviour, I put them on and remember why I am doing this...

    Good Morning everyone,

Well it looks like the lovely dry weather we've had over here is finally at an end. Woke up to a dark grey and wet morning. Ah well, maybe it'll pick up later.

Petrichor - if you want your expensive clothes to go to a good home, why don't you try selling them on e-bay. I think that sometimes you need to pay for something to fully appreicate it. I'm not saying that the folks on freecycle aren't grateful but I've heard that people take stuff to sell it on e-bay later rather than use and pass on when they no longer need the item.(which is the ethos of freecycle)

victory I'm always so jealous when you mention that brilliant boot sale you go to. I love wallis and principles clothes but just can't afford them.

DS had me up lovely and early today. Still not allowed to do much in the way of housework. I'm starting to get really bored now. The best I can do at the mo is.ohr5ux.gif. I have a few books I can read and might take the dog for a gentle walk later.

Right off for some tea and toast. See you all later

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    Hi all!
I have been lurking for a while - terrible habit!
Having lost 2 stone and with almost another to go I am at the stage where i need all the help and support going!

Since about March i decided to change my lifestyle and changed jobs from a sedentary one ( stress++)to one with loads of exercise involved ( no stress!) albeit part time and I love it.

I have also been dieting ( hate that word! - lets say changing my eating habits) and now eat healthily without snacks or naughty bits...most of the time!

Not having lost a great deal recently I went to the gp to check that it was ok for me to go to the gym and he gave me a form to take to the local leisure centre for a course of 20 sessions at reduced rate. Wonderful!!

Did my induction the other day and went on Sat to go through the programme and machines with the instructor.

Monday morning and i can hardly walk!! - my thighs ache+++!! I am longing to go back for more but the thought of the step machine and bike fills me with dread - are any of you in the same boat as me? should i just go back today for more or leave it a few days? Dont get me wrong - I really do want to go - thighs permitting.

Good luck to everyone on this forum
  • hello all! sorry i've ben so quiet - I've been off at the Sedgefield Veterans Memorial Weekend and have arrived back to put myself straight in the naughty corner. Had to stay in a b&b, food options just didn't exist so have been eating in pubs for the past four days. I think I'm going to skip my weigh in this week and getback to day one today. Also been a little stressmonkey with trying to sort out my re-enactment group - huge issues with finances and stuff that have been ongoing for months all coming to head. Can't respond to all the comments that I've seen and loved but some hysterically funny stuff. I particularly loved the mil=dementor thing. v amusing.

Have noticed that some of you have received your swapboxes which is lovely! Glad to see people talking about them too - delly, so sorry about your parking ticket. It's up to you if you want to identify yourselves, but i'm sure your recipient will want to thank you . . .

just a quick one, can you drop a post on here to say when you receive your box? That way I can pm any senders and check that everything s okay. So far I've got BrightonBelle and Delly down as yes's. Counting down till the the 31st!!!!

    Bails congrats on the job!
