I think you're right serendisglair
Need to find a type of exercise I enjoy but hated sports as far back as school and think it put me off for life.
So what's your favourite type of exercise people? Give me some ideas?
I was the same a school perfect10...absolutely loathed games lessons...I don't think the school environment is the most inspiring when it comes to PE lessons.
I like the gym as I can track how well I'm doing and my improvements....I also love swimming.
I do plan to try running if I ever get organised and brave enough...I now live somewhere a lot safer than I used to so now its just an issue of fitting it in.
I find aerobics classes gruelling but rewarding...I think you have to keep trying until yu find something...
My main obstacle is trying not to compensate for the calories I burn by eating more!!0 -

well done jules and nails:j :j :j
I thinK you will find exercise wise that it is true if it is an effort and you are not enjoying it you will find excuse after excuse to not do it and then in the end it is counter productive... at school I used to love netball, don't play anymore but it never felt like exercise just like competitiveness, we had the cup to aim for and it was serious stuff:rotfl: :rotfl:
I like you walk everywhere as do not drive but I walk further than I ever did and longer and more often, house-work, gardening, cycling that all counts as exercise which I do, playing frisbee with the kids or maybe a game of badmington, tennis, playing tag with the kids that is all being out there, enjoying the kids, the outdoors and maybe loosing a few calories along the way:D
My friend swears by her cycling machine that she has in the living room so she can do it and watch tv also, each person enjoys and finds different kinds of exercise, the gym has never been for me, my teenage son is super competitive so when we go for a walk, cycle together anything we have a mini bet that it will take this long or that I will win etc and it ups the tempo and my son gives me a work out without knowing:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Hi Peeps on this lovely frosty morn:j
Thanks efrieze not only for the chart but for your helpful info about how you coped on holiday, it is so easy to get obsessed about food that it can spoil what should be enjoyable times such as holidays, occasional meals out etc...

Efrieze I am a really black and white person which works for me now but not when I get to goal weight. I do not allow myself much deviation at all from 'my plan' but then when I have got to goal in the past, i just 'let go' and then gain and gain again. I know it is not the best way to do it long term, but it works for me and I intend to try to change the maintaining thing when I get there!
Efrieze :j :j I could have written that myself! How do you think you (and in a year or so when I'm at goal me too) will change 'the maintaining thing'? In the recent past it has actually stopped me even trying to lose weight as I've been so despondent about the prospect of putting it all back on again afterwards.
I'm so pleased to have found this thread as I think it might just make the difference with that really difficult stage ..... when I get there!0 -
Morning all! Just to let you know it was RC class last night, and I've managed to lose another 2.5lb this week......which takes me to just over my first stone off!!:j :j :j
I'm so pleased as it seems to have taken less effort than every time before (and there have been lots) although I have been much more disciplined on the exercise front - thats one of the things I love about RC is the 45 minutes aerobics class included, and I've also been doing hips, bums and tums along with some swimming, walking to and from the office and Waterloo station (about 1.5-2 miles each way) and the odd bit of cycling. To be honest though I think its drinking far less thats really making it happen for me now!!!!:o
Congrats to everyone who has posted losses - efrieze I forgot to say congratulations on your amazing milestone achievement, what an inspiration! :T And a1969baby congrats on SOTW thats another fabulous loss this week
And grannynise I couldn't agree with you more - this thread has made such a difference to me and my attitude I can't say, I don't like to think where I'd be without it!!

Feel free to come on here and have a grop (combination of grump and strop!!) I'm always up for a bit of commiseration on the MIL front and if you're chatting on here then you can't be in the fridge!! Such good work this week would be a shame to let her get you to counteract it? May I offer my services to eat that cream cake for you...............?!!

I'm a definite convert to aqua aerobics, I know I'm working hard but am not dripping with sweat and have no aching joints from impact.
I also have a mini trampoline which i use for just 3 mins a day at the moment.
JM I know exactly what you mean about RC and exercise I get positivey annoyed if i feel i'm likely to miss a class because I know I'll have to make a rea exercise effort in some other way.Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j0 -
