Interview went well, thanks everyone - won't be doing any teaching which is a bit of a downer but on the plus side I'll be getting into a pastoral care role (which is another aspect of my job I sorely miss). So you're now looking at the new School Liaison Worker for the Paediatric ME team. Sounds v fancy, not really but hey it's a start! I can work as little or as much as I like (starting on 2 hours a week and see how it goes) and it's basically an area which is completely underdeveloped ie noone's been doing it! so I get to build it up from scratch. So not jumping for joy, and still on the lookout for some teaching hours, but looking forward to it.

The job sounds like a really good start to see how you feel and don't take on too much to start with. I have just recently retired from teaching on health grounds with FMS and CFS/ME. It is a relief in some ways not to be battling with my employers who told me not to take odd days off and come back when I am well. Two years later....!! I really wish I could do something like the job you are doing it is sure to be really rewarding. I received a letter from the secretary of state today thanking me for all my hard work and of course I cried buckets. So good luck and I hope it goes really well for you.

Efrieze how wonderful ... And please tell me, how did you spend time in Italy and still lose half a pound? I'm anticipating a major gain next week.

In all honesty, I was as strict as I could be but i had to taste the italian food, just sensibly. I was so paranoid that, being away from my normal routine, I would get peckish at a time when only junk food was available. I took with me little packets of raisins and dried fruit (like I do for my daughter!) and we found a little market on the first day where I bought an apple and banana to have on me just in case! I also ate normally at lunch and allowed myself a little bit of relaxation in the evening. I am a really black and white person which works for me now but not when I get to goal weight. I do not allow myself much deviation at all from 'my plan' but then when I have got to goal in the past, i just 'let go' and then gain and gain again. I know it is not the best way to do it long term, but it works for me and I intend to try to change the maintaining thing when I get there! Meanwhile, in Rome, a little olive oil on my tuna salad and I was about to have a hissy fit but I managed to relax a little and try not to make food an issue when we were out and about. Plus, I think the variation from my normal menu was an advantage...

Congratulations to our Slimmer of the Week, a1969baby with a great loss of 4.5lbs and a great turnaround from last week’s gain. Well done also to Starlight and LGDNUFC who lost 4lbs each. A big well done to julesgr and Queenieviolet who have already achieved the October challenge in just 2 weeks. With 2 more weeks left in the challenge, let’s see if we can add more names to that list…

Well done to ALL losers and maintainers and to the gainers, well done for being here and starting day 1 straight away again – perhaps you can be like a1969baby and turn it around to becoming SOTW next week. Good Luck.

Once again, if I missed anyone off or got something wrong, please let me know.

Efrieze: that is amazing. 6 stones. yay.gif Ifireworks.gifMy hat off to anyone who has that sort of target to aim for and I know there are others of you. It just emphasises the importance of small interim goals to keep focussed. :T That's a stunning achievement

well dones to rachel, LGD, queenie, newlywed, justmarried, victory, suggs and poohbear.

Thanks for being so lovely about my size 14's:o . (Just had the tedious job of taking them up - could only get them in 'long'.)
I nearly didn't say, as I know how tough it is when you're struggling and size 14 seems an impossible dream, but I started as an 18 and hoped it would be an encouragement (especially as i haven't actually lost a lot this last month but something is still going on) even if you are secretly sticking pins in the wax effigy as I write :rotfl:

Congrats everyone on your losses especially efrieze & bb! I'm soooooooo jealous lol.
I decided when I first started this weight loss programme (it's not a diet they're restrictive!!) that I wouldn't buy myself anyhing new until i dropped 2 clothes sizes! that will take me to a size 18 and hopefully I'll be able to buy myself a dress from a "normal shop" for my works xmas do.

I've got a 4lb loss to report this week:D so another step nearer to my new dress lmao!
    Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j

Delly hope you're feeling a bit better soon, the banter on here is no doubt helping!

bails - yes, I am feeling a bit better today. I took a wander round the shops in town but had to return home in a hurry this afternoon. . Tonights dinner seemed to agree with me so I think I just have to try and eat plainer food for the next wee while. The advantage of the op. etc. is that while it's uncomfortable if a certain food disagrees with me, it isn't very long before the feeling has "passed through" if you get my meaning.:o I'm just a VERY bad patient (as in I have none) I expect to be better within a week of getting out of hospital and life just doesn't happen like that.

The benefit of being ill showed on the scales though. I think I've lost 1 .5lbs since my op (anyone any idea how much a gall bladder weighs?:rotfl: ) but I won't log any official weight loss until I return to weightwatchers next monday night.

I was glad to hear about your job and it's probably a good idea that you are building up slowly. ( hah ! Listen to me lecturing about taking things too fast :D ) and yes, it is good having the boys back on form again.

grannynise - I'd love for you to smuggle me to Italy with you but I don't think I'd fit into your suitcases. But please bring me back some gorgeous italian [strike]men[/strike][strike]art[/strike]icecream

well done jules 4lb loss is fantastic! :T

and of course, thanks efrieze for the chart :A you're magic.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.

Think I need to up exercise as other than walking as I dont drive that is about my lot:j

    Hullo,
I have found excercise invaluable...so if you're able to do try to fit a bit more into you day even if its just upping your step count, jogging on the spot, dancing or doing a bit of skipping. I used to think I had enough exercie as I walked everywhere but I never lost any weight...I think your body adapts to a certain amount of exercise after a while. The best bit about excercise is that it is addictive once you find soemthing you ilke...it also tones you up so even if you lose a litle weight wise you will probably lose more overall in inches and you can only gain in health
  • I think you're right serendisglair
Need to find a type of exercise I enjoy but hated sports as far back as school and think it put me off for life.

So what's your favourite type of exercise people? Give me some ideas?
