I didn't delete that thread - I logged in one day and it was gone (I never got told why)!

I'm talking to someone on OKC about meeting up at the moment - I was busy last weekend so will probably meet them this weekend (just waiting for them to confirm). :-)

Scattergun is a great way to do online dating - go on lots of dates and whittle down the unsuitable ones quickly :D
Except you filter down to 3 of them and like different things in all 3 and complain of the ever elusive full package whereas if you was just seeing one of them they'd probably be good enough

Having said that I take a scattergun approach to sending messages, almost no replies :'(

  • @KnightRider: perhaps you should stop trying. Just go out and enjoy your life. Love will happen, sooner or later :)

Done it myself when a novice , but when shown how many messages women receive realised you have to be more bespoke, even on the message line , avoid Hi/Hiya/Evening/Nice picture go for "Ceroc !! great we have that in common " "Tell me about that Egypt trip"" , it shows you have read her profile and not scattergunning and you are interested in hearing about her and not a player just after a dodgy picture.

If the site is one of those that has the senders picture and opening line on the list received she is likely to just delete those that don't have a good picture ( not topless or wearing magnum sunglasses or both) and opening line, so make sure your profile picture is also up to scratch , you are trying to attract her attention and stand out from the other 20 guys that have messaged her.:)

Even if they were not interested those I contacted with something unusual/ personal in the one liner usually still responded and thanked me for messaging :T

The 1-to-all messages irate me the most. "You have a nice smile" - when in the only pic I posted I wasn't smiling :) For me it's a red flag.

Make it personal even if it's a 1-liner...

Well, it worked for me. You just know when the person's right. I married him in march :D

Are you making your messages personal to the people you're sending them to? Comment on something from their profile to show you've actually read it!

Exactly, I had an even sillier 1-to-all message: "Hi are you a model?"..

Er, my profile had my correct age (I am in my forties), only 5'4" and the photos didn't hide the fact I was a size 16.

I replied with something like "do women really fall for that c**p?"

A few weeks later he tried the smile line instead. Still didn't work.

I got "Wow You're a fit guy" or similar in the message line from "dubious" model like women I was mid 40's about 16stone with a noticable gut:rotfl:
