Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hello there kids

Was out with my pal yesterday – she was going on about how she spends £100 each on her 6 nephews at Christmas but she is going to cut it down this year to maybe just £80 or £90 each – oh wow!

But is she skinted or minted?

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    My list
    1. Item sold from old business for £50 cash. Item collected and cash banked
    2. Found £1.01 roadkill
    3. Used £1 roadkill to buy a loaf and packet of biscuits, thus keeping NSD 11
    4. Walked 6-7 miles which saved me money on my bus travel
    5. Took food out with us to last from 8 to 4.30
    6. Took out a library book - by the host of Catfish? No me either but it's fascinating so far. And appropriately about how many people create online personas that aren't real. In the context of online dating mainly. Anyway the library gives you free DVD hire if you take out 8 books on different dates so it's always worth doing. We have Netflix but there are always some films that aren't on there that the library has.
    7. Made a very use it up tea for the kids as our fridge is very bare. But again another jar used up, pesto with a scrape of sauce. Plus veg and chorizo for DS.
    8. Took DD to the park and library as our play today
    9. Banking checked
    10. Moved all the washing around to make sure things are drying. Bill for joint energy still only £56 this month based on readings.

    Night

    Evening all :)
Struggling a bit today as I am still feeling under the weather and have been looking after GD, but a few things accomplished:
Used up a pear that was going soft for breakfast
Made pancakes for GD's breakfast, and helping make them was an enjoyable activity for her as well - anything to get her away from Peppa pig, as she is obsessed with this at the moment and wants to watch it over and over again on Youtube all the time
Leftovers for lunch, pasta bake for GD, soup for me. OH made himself a toasted sandwich
Walked to feed the ducks this afternoon to get away from Peppa - not much bread left for the ducks by the time we got to the river, as GD had been tucking in :rotfl: (I always make sure that duck bread is fit for human consumption :rotfl:) but at least it got us out!
Found a pack of sausages in the freezer, cut them up and put with a tray of veg roasting in the oven for dinner. Used the veg I had lurking in the fridge - some carrots, a couple of parsnips, a potato, a pepper, an onion and a few tomatoes. Sprinkled on some fennel seeds from the spices basket for a tasty crunch :)
All of this meant - nothing spent again today :T
No heating on all day, but have lit the wood stove now
Sold a few bits on ebay, must do some packing shortly

Well it turned into a nice afternoon which has made an improvement to my mood :)
Picked eldest up from school and got him to try out his bike, he is thrilled with it and says its working so much better then before :)
Went back to pick up the youngest from school who'd done an after school club for the first time and he loved it :) (and it was free :) )
Arrived home and dh arrived back 5 minutes after us, as he'd been up North with work I wasn't expecting him til at least 9pm and it wasn't even 5pm :) He took us out for fish & chips (tonights planned tea will now be used tomorrow) and we watched a bit of tele with the kids (junior bake off) and we've watched a Masterchef on catchup and now he's putting the kids to bed and having a bath whilst I catch up on here with a :coffee:

  • Hi all, just checking in. It has not been a dfw day at all here as we have been celebrating DS1s 18th birthday. £80 family meal out tonight and £25 lunch added to the £70 meal out at the weekend  ... still there was a time when DS1 was so poorly that we didnt think he would see 18 so there is a lot to celebrate.

Normal service resumes tomorrow. Ready for bed now. DH has volunteered to go and collect DS from wherever he ends up, lets hope he isnt in too much of a state!

    Morning all

It's gorgeous here at the moment but it's supposed to come cloudy and miserable by mid morning so I'm enjoying the sunshine while I can.

Going to miss the gym today. Although my arm is a lot better, it's not perfect and the moves in today's workout might exacerbate it. Judging by how much it improved yesterday I'll be fighting fit for tomorrow.

It was a pretty late one yesterday but I was really pleased with the amount of work I got done. This should set the chaps up for Thursday/Friday (it's my weekend now!).

Yesterday's state of play - not quite the NSD I had in mind but given the overtime, the long lunch was worth it:
    Today's mission
    • B/L/D from stores. Not sure what though. Need to scour the freezer. I know that there's soup but nothing to go with it. Hmmmm. - change of plan. The girls at work want to go for coffee. Will eat lunch as dinner to avoid overtime munchies!
    • Possibly a run at lunchtime - see above.
    • Wash the hoover filters - nope. In work til 9.30!
    • Overtime - done
    • No drinkies - one 330ml beer. Perfectly acceptable after such a long day!
    • Charge phone in work (actually forgot to take it home yesterday!!) - done
    • NSD - going out for lunch
    • Heating off unless it suddenly gets colder - done
    • Move dehumidifier onto landing to dry washing. Put out yet more washing. (Place like widow Twankey's again) - done
    • Research possible train ticket refund - done. Seems to be worth a try. My train was cancelled. Ambiguous info re Advanced tickets. T&Cs of advanced tickets says that you can get a refund. Refunds page says no refunds?! Seems worth trying for the cost of the stamp.

Today's mission (am feeling on top form this morning!)
    • Go for a run if it's not too rainy (doesn't involve my arm)
    • B/L/D from stores - used up a little bit of pastry with fruit/nuts to make a breakfast croissant thing. Tortilla for lunch and fish pie for tea.
    • KM the remaining two kitchen cupboards because they are driving me crazy. - half way through. Have done the discarding stage but OH decided it was a good time to redo the manky silicone around the sink (this is a good idea). Gotta wait now for the silicone to set before washing up and putting stuff away!
    • Make Christmas cakes! :j
    • Dust the bathrooms and spare room
    • Clean bathrooms
    • Wash hoover filters
    • Water chilli plants now that they are indoors for the winter. Last year only one survived. I hope that I can top this!
    • Wash on - done
    • Heating off? Probably but it depends how cold it gets later - my house doesn't take well to being left to get very cold. It gets very damp and it takes a lot to warm it up again.
    • Make bread (poss 2 loaves, one to freeze) - will make foccacia to use up bits of basil in freezer
    • Look at starting the great clothes swap. I realised that (for lots of reasons) our clothes are in lots of silly places. It will make more sense if I move all of mine to the spare room and all of OH's to our room. That way, one person's clothes will be together and I won't wake him up in the mornings when getting dressed. This plan won't be finished until we put up the Christmas decs (they are in the wardrobe on our room) but I can start. - made a start
Right, there might be more to add, but I'm going to sit and enjoy my coffee while I get my bum in gear.

    Have a good one all
