When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Morning all, I thought I'd kick us off this week as I'm up early.

    I've got a lot I want to get done today but going to start on the quiet stuff otherwise the kids will be bouncy around and I'll get nothing done, so I better make the most of them being asleep, at least for the next half hour!

    Today's list
    * Email school re hospital appointment tomorrow :)
    * Check banking/update spreadsheet :)
    * Check mileage :)
    * Go to the gym to make the most of the membership :) & refill water bottle there :)
    * Shower but let hair dry naturally, will also use some products from the bathroom useup box
    * Make rice pudding with the kids later, will add in a can of coconut milk from the use up box :)
    * Cook m&S bargain chicken :) and prep veg for tonight
    * Check lucky phone :)
    * General clean round and tidy
    * Finish off cleaning up yanke candle jar and decide what I'm going to use it for
    * Clear desk and file anything that needs it
    * Washing :) and radiator shuffle
    * Iron only what needs it, just hang the rest away
    * Dishwasher on quick wash :)
    * Make a date cake
    * Make tomorrows packed lunches :)
    * De-junk email inboxes :)

    That's enough to start with I think!
    Have a good week all

    Morning!

    Thanks to 1LL for starting the thread (ps - when did we start a weekly one?).

    Final state of play yesterday
    • Reconcile spreadsheet - not sure it will be pretty (this is now Sunday night's job, once a week with OH. I would prefer to do day-by-day but this seems to keep him on board) - done
    • Showered in m-I-l's this morning, used her shampoo etc - done
    • Update water bill amount in spreadsheet and think about water saving as it's gone up (probably watering the garden in the summer) - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • OH wants to go for coffee after work but will not push it. May save a few pennies there - he seems too tired to think about it
    • No drink day. Am doing a bit better with this since the holiday, even with mum up. I try not to let her drink too much as she gets teary. - done
    • Relist ebay items. Will try to sell once more but will likely try facebook/gumtree - done
    • Gave OH a list of housework to do but not sure he'll get round to it given his general level of hangover :D - done. He's done it apparently
    • Have a think about lunches/dinners over the week. Lots of ingredients in but no plan - this is always a bad thing in our household.
    • Heating off - done

    Today's mission:
    • B/L/D from stores - sweet potatoes in the oven now for lunch! OH having LO chilli for tea. Not sure what I'm having yet.
    • Make bread
    • Charge phone in work- done
    • Heating off
    • Research way to send large fragile parcel to potential Ebay buyer - done. She is happy with the proposed postage and has bid on 2 of the items
    • Crossfit - done
    • Washing out (low chance of rain :) )
    • Tidy round - place still a bit all over the shop since mum being here
    • Tell OH to put his prescription in- told him. Will he put it in though?
    • NSD
    • If time, KM my tuppaware cupboards. Having some storage issues. Too much in the cupboard. Don't think that I can get rid of much but I think I need to make better use of the undersink cupboard. At the moment it's full with 2 giant tubs of whey protein that OH is trying to use up. He bought some sickly strawberry flavour. It's BOGGIN.
    Will add more as I think of it.

    Have a good one all

    Morning Campers,
    Not even doing a list today. So much to do today that I think writing it down might be overwhelming. I'm going to tackle it in 3s. First set of 3 things is to
    1.Empty overnight laundry out of washer & put on heated airer.
    2.Clean kitchen
    3.Do rubber
    When I have done these 3 things, I will prioritise the next 3......& then the next, & so on.
    So that being said, I'm off to listen to my audiobook while cleaning the kitchen.

    Morning all :)
    Thanks for starting the thread 1LL :)
    Dreary looking day here, but hopefully it will brighten up later.

    Today I have /will:
    Walk dog x 2 Done, he was quite naughty today - if he doesn't want to go in a particular direction he just lies down on the pavement and refuses to move, while giving me a look as though to say 'the RSPCA would have something to say about this!' :rotfl:He kept on doing this today!
    Freezer tetris to get the tubs of poached quinces that I did yesterday in :eek: Done, all in except for one pack which will do for breakfasts and puds for the next day or two :)
    Tidy kitchen Done, probably needs doing again now though!
    Wrap ebay parcels Done
    Post office, parcels and RM survey item Done
    Go to sales unit, I have a friend's unit to tidy today as well as my own, as she is recovering from a knee op Done
    Found 2 quite nice fleeces in one of the charity shops, so I bought them (I always seem to be short of warm tops), washed them and they are currently drying on the airer.
    HM meals from stores Done
    Clean bathroom Done, also hoovered landing and main bedroom :T
    Check for surveys Found a few for onepoll
    Make sure I am here for a delivery later this afternoon - it is a bargainous case of wine, a frivolous spend :o, but budgeted for in the Christmas budget Done, all put away now :)
    Make 'pizzas' from leftover bread ends to avoid throwing them out. Just butter them, add a spoonful of tinned tomatoes or any tomato sauce, add whatever topping you want, cheese on top, sprinkle with black pepper and dried herbs, and put into the oven when on for something else (temp not crucial) till hot through and cheese melted. Today's will have a bit of chopped chorizo and some mushrooms between the tomato and the cheese, but you can use whatever you like / have :) These are nice hot or cold, and always popular - grandchildren like to 'build' their own with their choice of whatever I have got for toppings! I love making something from (almost) nothing :DDone, OH had some for his lunch :)
    Sold 5 more things on ebay, packed 3 of them so far, will post tomorrow
    Ordered some more packaging materials from ebay. I use recycled as far as possible, but have to buy wrap, tape etc. A business cost, can't be avoided.

    Right, better get on! Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Dawn, in our house its called "Easy Peasy Pizza" I do mine under the grill, toast one side then take out and put tomato puree on the undone side, some grated carrot (love this as its a bit of extra veg and I can get away with using less cheese!) Cheese and whatever else we have laying around! My kids like to make faces with the toppings :)
