  • I enrolled last Thursday (third year).

The process was a little confusing however, my Uni adopted a "fast track" and "express" enrolling system which you queued up in depending on your circumstances (that they'd determined beforehand by sending a form home to you).

I was in the express queue as my loan had been "confirmed" apparently and I don't need to pay any tuition fees, so enrolment was nothing more then just queuing up for 5 minutes, handing the form in, then being shunned out of the door.

They didn't ask for my payment schedule letter (which I didn't have, the SLC decided to send it to my home address one day before enrolment ) and the lady said it "would be fine".

So, I wait until my scheduled payment date; 24/9/07, today.

    Nothing.

I just knew this would happen, what makes it worse is the fact that I've forgotten my SLC password/secret answer, the last time I went online with them was over two years ago!

Sigh! I need this money really badly as I've had to pay two months rent up front (£519) just using my student overdraft!

My son has registered today. I hope.

    What fun. :rotfl:
No student card ready for him, this means no meal card, can't get access to any computers until he phones the helpline and gets his university number.

He's beginning to think they don't want him.

He has no payment schedule through yet, good job he has a sense of humour I think he's going to need it. :rotfl:

  • Argh - trying to get of anyone to sort this out is hard work.

It appears after some research that my LEA have failed to assign the special 'P' code to me as a placement student, if they'd done this my loan would've automatically come through in August.

I filled in all the forms as being on placement and they obviously knew that as they've allocated me the reduced placement loan amount
  • I was to be paid my loan on the 11th Sep and still nothing and ive done everything needed. Something tells me this hasnt been handled all that well!

I understand your frustration as, believe me, I've had no end of problems with them mid-years.

I've had demands for paperwork I know I have sent - the one only proved because I send everything by recorded delivery!

And last year they read DH's payslips wrong and told me I owe them money as I had deliberately underestimated his earnings (they were adding wtc on to his income despite having his bank statements in front of them clearly showing no wtc credits!)

When I pointed this out (as the woman rang to tell me my money would be going right down while they investigated how incorrect my info was) she said THEY deal with this stuff every day and DO NOT make mistakes!!!

On eventually realising she had cocked up and I had indeed been telling the truth, her only answer (after ringing me several times, hassling me for this info and that info) was that DH has very odd pay slips - no apology of course!!!!

They also messed up my childcare claim in the first year and started to claw back money I was entitled to!

However, they have been on the ball with the initial assessments and this may well be because I go to a local uni and it is also quite a small uni with predominately local students?

Hope this good luck continues for you. Our LEA has had to verify some students' statuses at the local college, so slc strikes everywhere!

One year, after they'd messed up deferment again, I rang and they said it was my own fault as I'd failed to send March's payslip. I had originally replied to their letter in mid Feb!

DD still hasn't had loan...thank goodness we stocked up her fridge!!

Mine has arrived safely today thank goodness.

andyrules - you really seem to have more than your fair share of issues with these people and you must be very tempted at times to visit them in person, for a little chat (of the physical kind wink.gif)!!! Glad your daughter has some grub at least though.

Best wishes to everyone still waiting - I hope you all get your money soon,

i got my loan through this morning, enrolled on thurs, so it's taken 3 working days.

as long as your uni scans the bar code at the top of your letter it should all go through fine.

Just re-read my posts, I sound like a grumpy old woman, I could go on the show and moan about slc - I don't think it's been done yet!! :D
