I came to uni on Sunday, they sent the payment out on Monday so I got it on Wed (bank transfer take 3 days REMEMBER THAT PEOPLE).
My uni had a whole set up so they informed SLC when I got there which was good.
Put all the money in an ISA and going to watch the money role in... I hope
Check with the uni to make sure they have informed SLC about your son, I imagine if he is going somewhere with a lot of students it may take longer...0 -
Yeah I'll give them a call thanks
If anything good's come out of this though, it's my new food recipe,

You're right. He seemed to be the only one whose parents staggered in with embarrassing amounts of groceries. Everyone else seemed to be making their own way to the local supermarket. Anyway good news. The loan arrived yesyerday, despite not having the necessary forms. I am still not sure how it all works but at least I can pay off my credit card now and leave him in peace to enjoy his freshers week and start learning to live in that same boat.
Thanks to all for the advice on this subject.0 -
IF you are still waiting for your payment schedule, call student finance direct and ask for it to be resent. It goes via a different system and mine arrived 2 days later.0

I received the bar-coded payment schedule twice this year but am on my placement year so didn't really need either, it's supposed to all be automatically put through - however no loan yet (was due on Monday) - we'll see!0

Have you got a number we can call?
The only one I have for the student loans company is an automated line and you cant actually speak to anyone!Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
You should be able to get the regional number relative to your county.
Ask your student union, or call the university direct. I believe it was them that gave me our local number.
You could try Ucas. Make that call short though its an 0870 number.(No alternative )£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I believe it is stated as blocked on the site until the registration details get to them.
You need to give them a ring. They are very easy to talk to and can explain everything in simple terms. It will give you peace of mind.
The best thing is not to panic, talk to the student union about whats happening. They will be able to advice you too.
If you are lucky enough to make contact with a person!! Have given up going through the options (tried several - none lead to a human who picks up). Rang my LA and they sighed in despair about it. DD has been unable to register on the correct day for the 2nd year running.
Perhaps we should all apply for our loans NOW for next year? That would give them a better chance surely. :rolleyes:0
