When I look online I can see when I am getting my payments for my student loans, but I havent got a hard copy through the post. I did recieve that piece of paper with the barcode at the top which tells you the amounts. I just presumed thats all we had to take.

Usually it isn't scheduled until the 1st day of teaching. i.e. there will be freshers week, then the payment date will be the following monday probably. but as others have pointed out he'll need to register with the university first and then it will be paid after that.

So, even though my payment date is the 24th Sep(according to the payment schedule on the website), which is the day I have to register (even though lectures dont start till the 1st Oct). What do you think we happen then?

You'll probably get it on the 1st.
  • From what I understand, the first financial notification letter will be fine for activating your payments if the payment schedule letter doesn't come through on time (I haven't had mine yet either) as that had the barcode on it as well. I can complete my enrolement from the 1st and am hoping for the payment within a week..

They have registration days here - they were last weekend, it's freshers/induction week now and we start back next week.

Perhaps he could pop into the SU or contact the uni and ask about registration.

As already said, he will have had to take photos and his finance forms along. When I was in my first year, the money was in my bank within three days of registering.

Last year, I received it on the 29th September I believe (from memory) and we started back on the Monday before that.

This year, I think my schedule said the 1st October so i wasn't expecting it any time soon.

There doesn't seem to be any sense to it! Definitely get him to check if he neds to register though as he won't get anything before he does that.

All universities are different. My uni never asked for it in my first year and for this year and last year its all been online registration.

Registering has been online here the last two years but for non-first years - they still have to do it manually.

I guess the size of the uni and LEA (ie how many they have to deal with) makes a difference too.

Hope your son gets his soon

Last year at my uni we had to show the schedule letter or pay the fees ourself. This caused problems for people who forgot them.

Its meant to come in the post but no one on my course has recieved it yet, nice to see were not alone!!

According to my LA there are a number of letters that didn't get sent out - slc error and people are having to wait. Messes up registration big time.
