Just receieved my schedule and mine is being paid in Monday - the day we start back (third year). action-smiley-033.gif I was a few days late getting my application in this year but I don't know of that had any impact or not - will have to compare with some more organised peeps!

    Hi bestpud, compare with us.

We got the application in at the correct time, gave new termtime address and have kept in touch all the way to make sure it was being processed.

On DD's account there are 5 letters allegedly sent out, 2 on one day!! None arrived anywhere in time for her to register (don't know what other colleges are like but hers are quite harsh about paperwork and wouldn't accept word of LEA on the phone). So she is there but not registered.

Today, ONE letter arrived HERE at her home address, the one that tells you to take it to enrolment:mad: . (2nd class stamp, so despite the acknowledged errors they have made they made no effort to get the letter there quicker.) I know some students go to college in their home town, but you'd think slc would understand that some students are hundreds of miles away at a different address!

Oh, and things were similar last year as well!

Sorry if I sound whingy - I've had 10 miserable years dealing with the slc and their inefficiency as I defer payments annually.

    Best of luck.

I understand your frustration as, believe me, I've had no end of problems with them mid-years.

I've had demands for paperwork I know I have sent - the one only proved because I send everything by recorded delivery!

And last year they read DH's payslips wrong and told me I owe them money as I had deliberately underestimated his earnings (they were adding wtc on to his income despite having his bank statements in front of them clearly showing no wtc credits!)

When I pointed this out (as the woman rang to tell me my money would be going right down while they investigated how incorrect my info was) she said THEY deal with this stuff every day and DO NOT make mistakes!!!

On eventually realising she had cocked up and I had indeed been telling the truth, her only answer (after ringing me several times, hassling me for this info and that info) was that DH has very odd pay slips - no apology of course!!!!

They also messed up my childcare claim in the first year and started to claw back money I was entitled to!

However, they have been on the ball with the initial assessments and this may well be because I go to a local uni and it is also quite a small uni with predominately local students?
  • I got mine early! Yay! I can afford Waitrose for a few days :D

  • Well, my statement said that it should have arrived on the 17th... But I didn't register until the 18th! A couple of people in my group had there money arrive on Thursday, so just keeping an eye on it now so that I know when it arrives. Oh well, better not get too attached when it does!!
**"Cheer up, it could get worse" - I cheered up, and look, it got worse!**
  • Once you've received your payment schedule (the one with the barcode) you then take this into your uni on your enrolment. the uni then scans this and confirms your attendence. payment is then supposed to be made within 5 working days.

i enrolled on thursday so am expecting mine around thurs next week. it clearly says this if you read all the paperwork.

you only get the money on the expected date it you have enrolled beforehand.
  • I checked my bank this morning and it's there :D
  • I haven't had mine, thanks to my uni. They've completely screwed up the enrolment system this year by insisting that everybody enrols online and then, in a fit of utter genius, failed to send anyone any passwords to do so. Now the Registry office won't answer my emails or pick up the phone, and I don't know how I'm supposed to enrol. I should have got my loan days ago, grr.
  • I've had loads of problems proving who I am. I applied in April and haven't really moved on from repeatedly being requested to send in more ID. Heaven knows when It'll get sorted, but I have the feeling I'll be starting my first year at Uni with no cash assistance till it's sorted out.

My induction/enrollement date is 1st October and to be honest it's not looking as if it'll be sorted before then are even sometime after then. It's a nitemare.

I'm part of this pilot scheme too. They have been bloomin' useless.
