Reporting in with my 5th NSD of the week so that's Military passed again!! This takes me to 9 for the month.
Forgot to mention yesterday about the great ideas posted about alternatives to onion/leeks in recipes - yesterday we purchased celery, turns out DH loves it and used to eat it raw as a child!!, so this was added to a chilli last night. My veggie one also had leek in so not sure how much the celery helped the taste and it was still quite hard despite being cooked for over 35 minutes (not sure if that is what happens with celery?).
DH's one just had celery in (no leek) and he said it was lovely so this is a win, win!!
Will try it with soup next.
Thanks everyone who suggested ideas.0 -
NSD no 10. Quiet domestic day. kitchen nearly looks like a kitchen. Added the rail under my 'new' (recycled DS1's bed) shelves and hung most of the utensils. Cleaned each shelf, repositioned them where necessary and sorted all the herbs, spices and pulses (cleaned all the containers and topped up where needed) onto the new shelves, freeing up lots of cupboard space for Ds3 and Beloved to put their stuff.
Need to clean the microwave and a short length of worktop (loads of stuff piled on top yet) and then tomorrow start putting away the paints and diy stuff and find places for any remaining items.
Today I am grateful for a long lie in, for planned set ups working (mostly re-using things I already had, not necessarily the purpose the were sold for) and for coming to the end of a long job which now looks manageable..My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Yesterday n Friday were nsd but today I had to get petrol n top up shop. Everyone here is so much better at this than me. My biggest problem is the exhaustion from working all week making my weekends a muddle of shopping, cleaning n feel shattered.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #820

Please don't think we all have it sussed and are perfect! Bit by bit, month by month you will hone your mse skills and the planning will become more natural.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Got a top-up shop yesterday, mostly fruit and veg for the week. Managed 5 NSDs last week so very pleased with that
. Went for a run round the park yesterday morning, absolutely loving running at the moment. Today may be a NSD - it depends on whether I can be bothered going shopping after work for some christmas presents.

Morning
Have to shop today, the fridge is empty bar a few tomatoes, an egg, some ham, a tiny bit of cheddar and a tiny bit of feta. Have 1 can of tuna in the cupboard and some dry pasta. No doubt the A team could turn that into a machine gun and stage a siege but for me I'd say it's time for the supermarket
Pretty skint (very ) with 11 days till payday. Annoying as Ive been chasing payment from one client for over a week now, and will earn more this weekend then more again between 25th and 27th but we won't need it then as the wages will be in. The joys of self employment. But I have paid my rent and business rates early by 2 days, so I will take a pat on the back for that.
Have a good Money Light Monday.

I'm really pleased this worked for you! I tend to sautee them before adding anything, like you would with onions. This generally softens them.Yesterday n Friday were nsd but today I had to get petrol n top up shop. Everyone here is so much better at this than me. Definitely not better than you..did you miss my £130 spend on clothes last week :rotfl: I failed miserable at what was supposed to be a military week! We are all here trying to do better, and that's the important thing.
I am not good as NSDs. I tend to go all day without spending and then go and buy munchies (biscuits etc) in the evening after dinner.
All we can do it try our best and plan for our downfalls. So i have been baking munchie stuff, instead of going to the shops.
What is it they say...fail to plan and you plan to fail
Today will be a NSD. No exercise today either. I am taking my 12 year old to the bank after school, to open his first proper bank account! I can hardly believe he is almost a teenager...only seems like 5 mins ago he was a baby.
Have a great day everyone!0 -
Goooooooooood morning,
Unbelievably I managed a NSD yesterday. I had planned to spend a fair bit actually (xmas presents) but alas I never got round to it. No rush anyway I suppose.
Today will be a NSD too. I've brought my lunch with me today and some snacks although I didn't have time for breakfast this morning and I'm absolutely starving and this cup of coffee isn't filling me up as much as I'd like.0
