I've halved my milk order for next week, not that we use a lot, a pint a day, hubby takes milk in tea & coffee, the lodger used soya milk. So now I'm down to 3 pints a week, I'll water it down in a 1ltr jug. Butter we'll swap to value spread as I'm almost out of butter. My search for reduced items will intensify, but it makes it hard when the basics go up in price.

I just went on to mysupermarket.co.uk to compare prices always being a Mr T shopper and was surpised to see that for 2 x 4pt milk, 1/2 lb value butter and 1 loaf oatmeal bread, that Tesco were the most expensive £4.33, with Asda £3.61 and Sainsbury £3.76 (altho Asda is 14 miles away). Think I'll check out Sains in future for basicsMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0

It's where the EU pay the farmers not to grow anything so to stop surplus. To get a single farm payment, farmers have to "set aside" (not use for food purposes) 10% of their land.
Then something like this happens and the EU realise that they don't have a clue about agriculture! The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

I was apalled when I saw how much milk had increased the other day when I went to Mr T. At first I thought it was because I was at the petrol station, but when I went into the store, it was the same there.
However, I make it a habit to go to the reduced section whenever I'm in, and the other day, they had loads of their local milk 2 pints reduced to 31p, so I bought 4 and have put them in the freezer (8 pints for £1.24 as opposed to 4 for £1.34), and felt quite pleased with myself. If I'd had more room in the freezer, I would have bought more, but we were storing food for a neighbour whose freezer had broken down.
Went to Lidl yesterday and managed to get Utterly Butterly 500g on BOGOF (91p, so 45p each).
Am contemplating finding out how much milk at our local farmshop is, but it is a bit out of my way, and I only go there when we need more catfood (about once every 3 months).Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170
