I am appalled at this huge hike in prices on such basics such as milk.
I have bought half the quantity this week and complained to customer services about this level of being ripped off! I shall stop using dairy products at this rate, so it will backfire!
I hope the supermarkets are forced to put their prices back to a reasonable level again. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks for that PP. I haven't opened it yet. Been getting milk in Farmfoods now as they have 4 pints at £1.35, cheapest in town next to Lidls at £1.30 for 2 litres.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. I bought my usual pint of skimmed milk on the way to work this morning and it had gone up from 39p to 49p:eek:
I read earlier in the week a thread that said that food might have gone up by 30% by Christmas but didn't really expect it to start to happen so quickly.

went to Asda at around 8pmish today and they were putting some of the loaves on the whoops shelf- some lovely large granary type loaves (dated t'row) that should have been 60p had been reduced to 19p so I got one. Cut it in half and froze half as was way too big to be used up in the next cple of days. If you can, try your local s/market later in the day for the end of day loaves. If you have a big freezer, you could stock up?
also got a big hunk of celeriac for 5p but no idea what to do with it yet! LOL0 -

peel (with a knife, rather than a potato peeler, like you do with a swede, as its a tough ol' root!). Then you can do different things with it. I think you can roast it along with spuds and other root veg. you can thinly slice it to make a kind of coleslaw, or you can chop it into chunks along with potato and boil, then mash it with the potato. Together with some nutmeg it gives a lovely celery flavour to the potato. I adore it - got about 6 growing in the garden! if you like potato mashed with other foods (like potato with swede, or potato with swede & carrot, or Colcannon, or the dutch variations) then you'll like this, provided you like celery of course!

You mean the 'reasonable' level that meant that farmers were paid so little that 200 dairy farmers a year go out of business?? Or would you rather have all the UK's foodstuffs imported from abroad?? As a nation we spend less per head on groceries than we ever have, and the unhealthy population is what we have to show for it.
The grocery budget should be the last thing that gets cut when the budget gets tight. sky/virgin/satelite TV, going out, smoking, unneccessary luxuries should be first, not food. Even my landline would go first!0 -
We get milk for work delivered by a local milk man - got letter this morning that from the 1st of october a pint will go up by 4pFat and proud lol0
