Sometimes life can catch up with us. When I'm in that sort of mood I take my laptop to bed and put a sad film on (Of Mice and Men or The Three Idiots are my go-tos) and have a bawl. Sometimes you just need to let it out.
Reporting NSD no.12 for me today, infact I've just finished an extra shift

Just updating,
I haven't kept track of my NSDs but am ok moneywise, as in have some left.......I need to move my money around today.
I managed lunch every day apart from one, and I have only spent 34 pounds in s*insbury's and 24 pounds in the pet shop since the start of sept, so the store cupboard challenge (and bulk buying of hay and dog food!) has worked. This week I need to go to S*insburys and am going to buy some boots too.

Hello,
Hope everybody had a great weekend. DH was in London for work so had the kids to myself. Although FIL came over Sat for his dinner. Got a few bits done in the garden (weeding, cutting back) but the last hedge and grass trim will need to wait to next week as the brown bin is full.
Managed to clean and tidy the house a bit before FIL came. My biggest achievement is restoring the living room rug to its beige glory (from murky brownish) by scrubbing it with a homemade carpet cleaner (water, washing up liquid, lemon juice and baking soda). Should have enough food in till payday on Friday which can't come sooner. Lost track a bit towards the end of the month. I think food spending isn't too bad at just under £300 incl drinks for the 4 of us. But it can still come down. Although October will be tricky as we'll be away for a few days. Got a cabin and can take hopefully stuff to cook rather than eating out all the time. Even cheap pizzas would be good as we have a oven this time.
£80 was spend on clothes (DS school uniform and me),
£210 on stuff (joiner, hair dresser, tickets to the enchanted forrest, snacks, postage, a compass etc),
£30 on presents and
£54 on household items (nappies, toothpaste, loo roll, cat litter etc).
Did ok on the NSD front.
Who will run October? Or did I just miss that?
Can't decide if it's worth selling my SLR camera (would get about £200 for body and big lens plus some for broken lens) and other stuff or if that is just more hindering my efforts. Maybe I should rather address the overspending, better budgeting etc issues. And someday I have the time again to use it and the spare pennies to repair the lens.

Friday got out of paying for tea out thanks to lovely bf:) a SFD
Saturday overtired dd(mum to be) came over and brought full of cold gs so neither wanted to go out and do anything again. Started making halloween decs to keep boredom at bay. Cooked lunch and dragged them out to local park for a bit as really had enough of watching Fireman Sam not that I don't usually like Firemen;) a SFD. Did a cleaning job so should get 40 pounds for that at some point.
Sunday -went to Sainsbobs, used gift card and points up. Bought dd xmas pressie - usual pjs and fluffy socks - they have the best socks ever - so got myself some and a new dressing gown. Bought some food- veg so a minor spend. Made leek/pot soup and liver casserole for today and tomorrow as couldn't be bothered going out in the afternoon. Finished book off and did all ironing.
Today a SFD made a mistake on my spreadsheet so having to tf some cash from my EF for the next week to tide me over oops.
With tea made plan a long walk after work, need to work on my weight this week.
Right going to check out how easy it is to change a light switch - if I am not back tomorrow you'll know why.

Hi turtles,
Had a mixed few days here.
Firstly, had my car damaged in a car park. Saw a woman swing her door open, straight into my car! The damage isn't awful, but the whole door has to be re-sprayed, it can't be touched up. She has provisionally agreed to pay for the damage, but think she will have a shock when she sees how much it will cost!
Secondly, DH failed part of his course. He can resit, but we have to pay another £550 for extra training and another test.
In better news, I have been chasing a quidco claim which they have finally agreed to pay (only after me posting about it on MSE!!) for £140.
AND my long running dispute with the university I graduated from over a year ago has finally been resolved after me escalating it to the adjudicators office and they are having to pay me nearly £2k!!!
It's a shame some of this money will be swallowed straight up paying for DHs retest, but hopefully it will be worth it if he can pass and come out the other side with a job.
If DH does pass and get the job then we may have the opportunity to buy the house we are living in (but currently renting). We just need to save around £9000 towards a deposit and paying off the cc. Once the payments above come through (& after the retest has been paid), on top of my recent selling sprees, we have managed £2200 so far this month. It's amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it!!0 -
I volunteered for October and would still like to do it. Discipline will be good for me - easier to make a committment to someone else and stick to it.
Congratulations Fmess.
Hugs to ccl and anyone else in need of one. I am struggling to get anything done (but still hoping to pull a few rabbits out of hats this week). Some days I don't even bother to turn the laptop on and finding it difficult to concentrate even on uncomplicated entertainment.
Ccl I would echo what Raphael said about films - sad ones (Lassie always gets me and A.I. - then DS1 toldme that the film has an upbeat ending compared to the book). I have been reading a thread called OS ways and Poor Health over the past few days. It's a recent revival of a previous thread and I have found it very helpful.
Some of it is applicable to everyone. We all tend to judge ourselves harshly and one of the tips is to offer yourself the advice you would give to a close friend who was in your situation. Another contributor offered a list she had drawn up with her counsellor including not being afraid to take shortcuts when needed. My counsellor keeps reminding me I can only work with what is in my basket - if I have very limited energy than I have to prioritise the most important tasks to complete before my energy expires.
Will keep plodding and tick off what tasks I can.
Today I am grateful for a lovely sleep, for entertaining books and my sense of humour. As one of my sons copied on bokface the other day "What doesn't kill us, gives us a load of unhealthy coping mechanisms and a very dark sense of humour".My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
