Gentrification - new 3 storey units of food vendors, the markets are mostly undercover in the arches now, rather than on the run up from the station. Rammed 7 days a week. Tres Hipster Chic. Much less Indie Punk. Times change - burgers £13.The Ballroom is still there, and many a night was enjoyed in there! And the Underworld. Shame my kids have no interest in music at all, unless it comes with a game soundtrack (bleugh!!)4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

There was one of the pubs too I think we saw a band or two, not the Dublin Castle but something more 'run of the mill' like The Kings Arms or something.
Used to love heading up there on a Sunday to the market to buy my army surplus and vintage adidas tshirts / levis jeans.
That's a shame the kids have no interest in music, esp as some of the gaming tracks do use some good bands. I remember avidly listening to John Peel on Radio 1 for his 'Sessions'Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Step-Gran is on the cardiology ward with wires all over her and fluid in her lungs (thought that was pneumonia but what do I know) and her heart under pressure from it. She thinks she will be released mid-week. They were going to take her to the hospital she was in before, but she refused and made them take her to a different one. See, Lazarus I tell you. The will is strong even if the body is falling to bits. Don't know if I am expected to go back over and look after her again, DH is in the hospital for a steroid injection into his shoulder Thurs morning, and is not allowed to drive himself, so the longer she gets to stay in the hospital the better (the food is disgusting apparently, and cold - what is it with old people and the obsession with scaldingly hot food??? ) but of course she wants home as soon as possible. I think I am going to be yo-yoing back and forth for a while.I do not feel in control of anything right now. On the plus side, 7 days til a triple payday - graduation wages, child benefit, and housekeeping all on the same day, yay!!! Sadly a nearly £800 credit card bill will put paid to my feeling of riches pretty darn quickly. Plus another possible £400 round trip to Ireland. Fuel is flippin' expensive now. House insurance is up again in March, so I do not think I will be able to put much into savings for the next 2 months unless I pick up some work somewhere, which is difficult when I might have to drop it all and run off over the sea, and the weather forecast for the foreseeable is carp. However, we are all well, the roof is still on the top of the house, we have food, and heating, and as yet, nobody has died.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you f0xh0les. What a very stressful time at the moment...
I went to Camden in 2019 which was the first time since 2001 and it was very different indeed - I barely recognised the place from what I remember in the olden days. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Thinking of you f0xh0les.
I recall my Grandma in her final years, she had COPD, was on 24hr oxygen, bedridden and yet still she would never fail upon every visit to regale who she'd 'wiped the floor with' since our last visit. I am still none the wiser as to how, given her bedridden status, she managed to throw a couple of poor souls out of the house....but she did.
I guess when you've had to emigrate (escape) from your home country during a war you end up being made of strong stuff.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

To be fair to step-gran, last time I was in hospital I requested a small portion of chips for lunch (wasn't in the mood for anything but thought I could force a few down) and when they arrived they were the wrong side of lukewarm and looked like those microwaveable chips McCain did in the late 90s."You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

Hope step gran stays in hospital for a bit, given the atrocious weather. Hugs x
