Seems she has done another 'Lazarus'. Has regained the use of her legs, has gone for a wander on a zimmer, and they are threatening to let her out on Sunday. What is more worrying, is that this is not the first time she has done this. So there is some underlying cause that suddenly causes her to be immobile from the waist down.... that has nothing to do with Covid. They are still doing blood tests though.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Hiya! I am back, step-gran managed to get them to let her out of hospital on the Friday, - alone, to a dark, cold house, and I got a panicked phone call from one of the Granny-Mafia telling me she absolutely should not be on her own, so I jumped on the Saturday night ferry and walked into her house 7am on Sunday morning - and she was a total mess. Could barely stand. Could manage about 5 minutes of being awake before falling asleep in her wheelchair. Did not even spend an hour awake the whole first or second day, but I could at least make sure she took her meds and kept hydrated, and tried to get her to eat. Anyway, turns out she was still covid positive and remained so until (she says) this morning - more than 13 days in, so I was eating in the kitchen, and masked up the whole time, and she was eating in the living room, and getting annoyed that I would not take the mask off as she was not worried I would give her anything (erm, not sure she has got the hang of this Covid issue).Anyway, she was much stronger (relatively) when I left, she was refusing treatment/hospital/tests for her heart as it was 'just covid'. Anyway, she lives, and she will either get better or not.I am off to London tomorrow for 3 days - think we are going to Camden Town tomorrow morning for the market (and of course a photo opp at Mornington Crescent Tube Station), British Museum in the afternoon. The changing of the guard and Buck House on Monday morning, and Natural History museum in the afternoon, National Gallery and Traf Sq and Big Ben on Tuesday and they really want to go on the London Eye, but they don't know what anything is, and I am very rusty, and it is £££, but maybe... and home by 3pm drinking tea on Tuesday. My car battery died in the queue for check in to open for the boat (embarrassing!!), and a lovely man at Belfast Dock got a boat engineer out to jump start me and I checked in with 7 minutes to spare. There were gale force winds, a lot of smashed beer glasses in the middle of the night, as the boat was rocking 45 degrees and it put an extra half hour on the journey. But I made it, I have never driven so far on my own before, and never in my little Ni$$an, and I am totally ready to forgive a flat battery when I was sat for 30 minutes in a non-moving queue and I may have forgotten to turn my heating off. I can't remember, I was listening to a fabulous programme on the radio with Cerys Matthews, and was just so relieved to have made it to the port and I had nearly escaped. So I am back, and nobody has died.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

We did Camden Market (wow it has changed since I was running up and down it on a Friday Night in the 90s) and The British Museum, then Mildred's for supper. Then The British Library (Magna Carta and Guternburg bible and 4th Century maps) and Natural History Museum and Pizza Express (student discount), and coffee shops galore. So around £200 on food and £100 on accommodation.Rang step-gran as soon as got back, she was still tired, but up for a conversation (the scales have fallen from her eyes on a certain blonde inhabitant of #10 - he is no longer 'poor Boris, but he's doing his best!').Wednesday she was going to ring the gp - I had spoken to gp just before I left, but she wants to do things herself, then she refused to go for the tests that the gp wanted her to have. Her favourite carer is telling her she should be better by now (she has no concept of immuno-compromised and what it means) and that she just needs to be doing more (sigh)This morning (Friday) she is in the back of an ambulance with a shortness of breath (it is her heart) and it looks like the old duck is on the way out. It would honestly be a kindness. But you aren't supposed to say things like that (apparently). If she had the choice between the Red Pill and the Blue Pill right now she would choose to go, but that is a sin, unless you are an animal, and then it is humane. We are so messed up.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

So sad to hear about step-gran but totally understand where you're coming from. We treat animals more humanely than people, with people it's about qty not quality of life and all profits to big pharma. My uncle has already said he's off to Dignitas when his time comes and I don't blame him.
Hope your hatches are all battened down for the storm - our neighbours decided to leave a step ladder against their wall in their wisdom - it is now merrily strewn across the middle of our drive. I am not going to collect it in this weather.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
