She is having tests, she is warm and safe, the food is disgusting, she is happy.

Oh god she is not happy!  Just spoke to her on the phone.  I think she still expects that she is going to get better from this, but she can't, her body is damaged and there is no tablet to take, or operation to have, that is going to make it any better.  She is simply worn out. Now she is unhappy they have not managed to make her feel better, and are talking about sending her home, and she was shouting down the phone that her heart was still not right, and they should not send her home until they sort it out.  They can't fix her. They can make her a bit more comfortable, but that is all.  It is all so sad.

But she is going to wait until she gets home, and then apparently I am going to ring the GP and sort it all out for her.   OMG how do you explain it when everyone around her is relentlessly cheery and 'you beat it before, you will beat it again!'  I am going to be the bad guy here, I just know it. 

School breaks up for Easter on 8th April, wonder if she will last that long?

I have been stopped from leaving the house 3 x so far this morning by hospital people who assume I am just down the road ( probably because s/g is making stuff up again) and able to care for s/g on her release.  I have patiently explained that actually she is not happy to be released, that she does not understand what the dr has told her, and that she does not have a merry band of people willing and able to help her out - she has a paid carer from an agency and they provide 4 x 20 minutes calls a day, and by the way it is 1 degree outside and snow is forecast which may stop her evening call entirely. 

All I get in response is a rather shocked 'oh!', so god alone knows what kind of care package they think she has, or that she is telling them she has.  Mustn't let reality get in the way of a good fantasy.

Soooooo stressed right now.

and she will indeed be released this afternoon...  and so we wait and see. 

I currently have 3p in my bank account, so I will have to bake, and then eat it all.... probably twice .... at least.....  the kids will be happy.

Ah - that doesn't sound so good I didn't think they could release if adequate care wasn't in place - shudders at what they seem to think is adequate....

 I stress bake too!

Would she be self funding?  If so, you will be surprised what they can come up with.  Just no chance if they need LA or NHS funding.  If it sounds cynical, it is.  They took my mother home & discovered she could no longer remember how to make a cup of tea.  They were quite prepared to send her home to that without a care package until we seriously objected & pointed out she would be self funding.

She can't make herself a cup of tea any more. She can't carry it.  She can hobble on her zimmer to the next room, needs to  take a 10  minute breather, then hobble back, and be asleep for the next hour or two. 

She gets a visit at 7.30am, they get her out of bed, is washed, toileted and dressed, wheeled up to the living room, a piece of toast and a cup of tea in the hand, and the carer is out the door.  Then gets another around 11, toileted, cup of tea, sandwich made, out the door.  3.50 she hobbles to the kitchen, takes a piece of fish out the freezer and 6 oven chips, puts them on an oven tray that is left in the oven for that purpose, and turns it on, she is so knackered out by doing this, she will sleep for half an hour til the carer turns up at 4.20, makes her go to the toilet, dishes up, cup of tea, out the door. Then at 6.20 a carer comes, takes her down to her bed and into her jimjams and leaves her with a glass of water. She does not eat more than half of anything they give her. No interest in food at all.  She is exhausted by 6pm and is asleep in her wheelchair for most of the day anyway.  No interest in reading anymore, or the tv ( she falls asleep after 10 minutes)

She will not pay for anything on principal.  But it is where she wants to be.
