NST August: Cut the chaff

Did not sleep well (tired but couldn't go to sleep) so not feeling at my best today. One frog task got very emotional - I will persevere and get it done either tomorrow or if I am wide awake in the middle of the night because the consequences of not doing it worry me more.
Plodding recommenced this afternoon. Third load of washing currently drying. Rubbish/ recycling out in respective bins. Think I missed the window on the skip as there are 5 cars lined up in the backs taking all the unrestricted space. However I have emptied and lined up 2 old dustbins (the pre-wheelies), a kitchen bin and another large tub and have been moving all the smaller bits of junk into them - if the skip has to be at the end of the backs, it's much easier to put the bin full of bits on dolly and wheel it to the end.
Planning an early night.
Today I am grateful for lovely drying weather, beautiful skies and wispy clouds and butterflies. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hugs apple, glad you and your sister are able to both support your mum.
SFD today. Technically I spent on parking however this came from the penny jar so I'm not counting it. Exercise was a long dog walk but no treats avoided (3 chocolate yoghurts and two ice creams!) but all from stores.

Morning all :hello:
Just back from 3 days in London with no time online at all.
Apple - I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. It all seems to have happened at once for you. My thoughts are with you and your family. I hope that you get the help and support that you need with your mum. Lots of love to you
Obviously, being away for a few days means that NSD's were non existent, particularly in London. We had a good time, but back to reality now. I'm going to find something to declutter (thanks for taking over shyspender) and put the house back to how it was before I left dh and 6 cats alone for 3 days...
Best get on.Not giving up

Hi All
Little check in. An ebay sale I made a few weeks back but thought would be cancelled looks like its a goer. The person messaged me today. I havent spent the money as I assumed she would go for a refund so thats £15 still in my pocket.
OH has looked for more comics to sell today. Some go for £1 some occasionally up to £20 for one. We shifted a load last month. All Deadpool. Probably due to the film.
Have walked for around 2 hours in total today. And taken DS to the river to play.
This week I have saved £100 by doing all the holiday childcare of DS. Even though not particulalrly exciting (for me) we have had nice moments and I am glad as always that he is an outdoorsey type.
Am getting on average 1 enquiry per day regarding hiring the space out. So not mega bucks yet but some positive noises.
Right Im just letting DD nap on me then going to check on the pork and inspect the trampoline fort in the back garden

Bob - don't you run your Cafe anymore?
The kids have been swimming today so £6 spent from the 6 week holiday fund. Me and DH walked the dog on the canal path and then cycled.
Now we are debt free I am putting my £400 a month DD into a savings account plus all the other bits I used to pay off each month, my aim is to have £2k saved up by Christmas.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Thanks bob. On the one hand, it is hard to be away and back at home; on the other hand, it is lovely to spend time with dd. We have started a papier mache hot air balloon, been for a little bike ride, and she scooted alongside me as I went for a jog. She then decided to copy her grandma: going down a fairly steep hill, her scooter brake wasn't enough to slow her down, so she ran it up onto the grass and leapt off. She faceplanted and bounced, and my jog turned into an all-out sprint! Amazingly she just seems to have a few bumps and bruises. Phew.
And I got an NSD - go me! And exercise. Ooh, I'm getting smug now, so I'll stop...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Woo I am happy to report I have clocked my first spend free day today!!
I'm actually a little shocked it's taken so long to be honest.
Although I have been quiet I have been lurking and trying to reduce my expenditure! This is what I've been up to:
I looked into getting a water meter installed.. I had one in my old place and all in all I paid £24 p/month. My new house is not on a meter and I'm paying £69 p/month?!
I had the appointment and unfortunately I can't have a meter because of the location of the stop !!!!... I will be put on a lower tariff though because I live by myself so that will save me some money hopefully!
I have also negotiated a cheaper mobile contract.
I wanted a takeaway last night but I went to the supermarket and got some chicken nuggets and chips.. Cheaper than a takeaway so I'm counting that as progress!
I was very interested in this weeks eat well for less in particular in the soup bit! So last night I picked up 3 tins of value range soup to give a try. Today I took cream of chicken with me I have to say I was thoroughly impressed! 20p a tin and they are better nutritionally than the next range up! I've got veg tomorrow.. and tastes even better with yellow sticker rolls ha ha
I decided to transfer more of my savings into premium bonds. Although this means I won't get as good a rate on the interest I receive it's harder to access and doesn't feel like it belongs to me. As much as I love online banking it's far to easy and tempting to just transfer from savings into the current account!
Ok so todays good points:
All food taken to work from home (breakfast and lunch), dinner was homemade and got out the freezer last night, no money spent, I had a PT session after work and really felt I'd improved which is positive, no rubbish eaten just healthy nutritious food. Just generally feeling good about getting back in control and slowing down the money spending!
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend so far xxI am officially debt free! Debt paid: £18,600 Current Savings: Pot 1 £300 //// Pot 2 (premium bonds) £3,800 :T:j0
