NST August: Cut the chaff

Sending (((hugs))) and condolences to apple and her family. Make sure you look after yourself as well as your mum.
Reporting in a NSD yesterday taking me to 3 but today was a spend day as I forgot my sandwiches, I was so excited about the ripe peaches and having to take them in a lunchbox that the foil wrapped sandwiches were left on the side. I popped to H&B for some vitamins for DH and they had their penny sale on so I got 2 flapjacks and 2 healthy bags of crisps for £1.80 which lasted me along with my peaches!!
Totally gutted about spending today although I had to post son's Uni forms off so needed to spend on that anyway.0 -

Thank you so much for all your lovely, lovely messages. Very few people know in real life as yet. Mum is recovering well from her fall - she landed on her forehead and quickly had a lump and bruise where the blood followed gravity - she looks like she is wearing a superhero eye mask! She still forgets why she went to A&E, which is a whole other issue. And tomorrow she has tests on a lump she found in her breast. And the tremendous grief. It is a rollercoaster.
Sorry to dump this on you.

Evening folks!
With the theme being cutting out the chaff, it got me to thinking of de-cluttering but I know most of you have done lots of that in recent months. So, I twisted my thinking to specific de-cluttering. With it being the summer holidays it made me remember all the end of school year trips home with piles of artwork when little and worksheets and exercise books etc when older.
As a kind of mini weekend challenge (stating it early because I will be in a field in Hertfordshire chillin' with friends over the weekend) I'd like you to think of one specific area that needs de-cluttering and organizing. For those of you with younger children that could be sorting out the best of the artwork and poems etc and putting them in a scrap book or memory box and 'storing' the rest or sorting out what needs to be sorted for the beginning of the new year. What can make another year and what has to be retired. For those of you without young ones around, now is the time to start thinking towards the dreaded 'w' word, winter. What has done it's service and can go?, what needs re-cycling? what do you need for the winter?
Have a think folks, what can you organise and sort this weekend to help you out in the next couple of months!
Personally, I have been sorting through my camping gear. Some of it is ten or so years old and still does a great job. Some stuff has been retired due to damage or no further requirement and some has been replaced, but a stock check of sorts has been done!
Have at it Turtles!!!Feb NST #4

Shyspender thanks. I will declutter paperwork and do some scrapbooking of kids artwork. I keep coming here to post but somehow it doesn't seem to matter when I read others news
I have had one no spend day and 3 low spend days - had to buy a drink on both flights as I was parched, and I also had to buy bread for sandwiches for DS1's 6th birthday party. It was a complete DIY event and cost me £10 in total! I need to take the boys swimming. Might try to find a ms nearby to make it neutral spend day.
Have limited to an hour screen time all four days - glad this is part of the challenge.
I have been swimming for free in hotel pool and biked up to the shop today for the bread. I am now phasing in swapping good for bad - no alcohol for me except for my wine club night - if I want to - for the rest of the challenge.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Evening everyone,
Reporting in with a small victory today. I managed to eat 3 mealsI use the term ‘meals’ loosely. Breakfast consisted of Belvita biscuits, lunch a garlic ciabatta, and dinner a toasted roll. Not the most fulfilling or nutritious but I’ve got to remember baby steps!
Popped out the house today to collect a prescription and passed by the post office to send a parcel. It wasn’t too expensive but I very naughtily bought some crisps and animal biscuits from Farmfoods on they way back although they were only 79p and 69p so I don’t feel bad. Took about an hour fifteen minutes to do all this, which equated to my exercise for the day and allowed the wee man to grab some fresh air.
My online shopping arrived this morning along with my water and I’ve been making sure to drink some throughout the day.
The wee man has been sleeping a lot better today and I managed to grab a nap this afternoon when he fell asleep. It really helps if I can do this as it stops me from getting too tired. I guess this too comes under the health category.
I haven’t spent much time online today (thumbs up) but confess to watching an hour of T.V. (Reggie Yates in a Texan Jail on BBC iplayer). I read a bit of my book, and I’m off to read some more before the wee man wakes up for his next feed (oh, it’s a hard life!)VSPC 2019 #10 - £168.80/£100 VSPC 2020 #4 - £262.03/£200 VSPC 2021 #9 - £242.88/£200 VSPC 2022 #3 - £188.03/£200 VSPC 2023 #7 - £0/£2000 -
I am sorry to hear of your news Apple thoughts to you and your loved ones.
I cleared out four bags to the charity shop yesterday. Bought a few bits yesterday for the grocery shop. Today was football and was a spendy day as have bought a train ticket to my hometown to see my dad for his 65th next week, entered a 10k race, and also bought a running belt.
Have kept a log of my 'wanted' purchases I haven't indulged on and have saved 22.98 by not buying those things.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

Apple, I'm thinking of you and your Mum and I'm so sorry you're going through such an awful time.
Posting to stay accountable but no great successes to report here. Still haven't managed an NSD, which is quite scary really! OH off for a couple of days, so realistically I won't fit any in until next week.
I like the idea of the decluttering challenge - I need to clear out the drawer I keep my PJs in! I've too many of them and many have seen better days.
Screen time was at a minimum yesterday, so that was good.
The job search is proving incredibly futile, and I can't come up with anything I could run from home, so feeling very dispirited and talentless at the moment!0 -
Apple I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope your mum is recovering well also :grouphug:
I have not posted and am not achieving anything I set out to  think mon was a NSD but been buying cakes at work rest of week
Have got the day off work today and have an appointment at homebase to get a kitchen quote. It's quite a big want as my kitchen doesn't need replacing right now but it's starting to look worn. It was fitted before I bought the house and want something more to my taste and also make better use of the space. Won't be ordering today but useful to get my quote so I get an idea. I will be saving my Airbnb money towards this as I should clear my cc next week :T
I also need to but cat food and post a parcel. Will also be purchasing a portable doorbell. Cannot believe I did not know about them before and only £5.99  will try it out today as guest will arrive when I'm in back garden!
Feel like I've had a head start on sky's challenge. Having a BBQ tomorrow so went in the loft last night to get my fairy lights. Whilst up there I tied and decluttered all the painting stuff, DIY stuff and audited what I have in for this Xmas in terms of paper, tags and bags!
I also need to clean the who,e house before guest arrives and then weed, trim and tidy both gardens. Might even scrape all the moss from the back of I'm really really up for a challenge :rotfl::j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
I'm hoping to not spend today. DD is going to visit her friend today and is being taken out, DS has a friend coming round here and they will want to play football and xbox games all day, I got their lunch things in with my normal shop last night and I have ice cream and waffle cones in for a treat later.
I hope to cycle later too.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

As predicted, yesterday was a NSD.
Today however I'm not so sure. It's my GF's mums birthday so there's a chance we will end up going out for dinner or doing something. I hate not having a plan. It usually results in spending.
I know that Saturday will be a spend day as I have my friends football team race night, so a few shandys, nothing mental. I've no plans for Sunday either but I'll try not spend.0
