Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Thanks bob. On the one hand, it is hard to be away and back at home; on the other hand, it is lovely to spend time with dd. We have started a papier mache hot air balloon, been for a little bike ride, and she scooted alongside me as I went for a jog. She then decided to copy her grandma: going down a fairly steep hill, her scooter brake wasn't enough to slow her down, so she ran it up onto the grass and leapt off. She faceplanted and bounced, and my jog turned into an all-out sprint! Amazingly she just seems to have a few bumps and bruises. Phew.

And I got an NSD - go me! And exercise. Ooh, I'm getting smug now, so I'll stop...

Oh blimey glad DD is ok! No more upset needed right now. Im sure she is so glad to have you home again.

  • Morning everyone :hello:

Well yesterday’s plan didn’t go according to plan! I ended up going for dinner with my sister and niece, hence no NSD :( We went to Tony Macaroni’s but I only spent £10 which I was pleased about. It was my first Saturday night ‘out’ after having the wee one so it felt like a treat. Afterwards my sister and niece wanted to go Pokeman hunting so we went for a walk around my local area.

I managed 3 meals, watched an hour of T.V. and started a new book although I didn’t get much read.

Today’s plan is to stay in the house this morning then head to my mums this afternoon. Hopefully it’ll be a NSD.

Forgive me for I have sinned :( I went for a want rather than a need - got a new duvet cover set from MrA after seeing it online - cats unsurprisingly. I have tried to justify it by saying I haven't bought new quilt covers in over 2 years but I could have managed without (£14).
Hoping for a nsd today - it would be about time.
Not much else to report here, hope everyone else is ok. Hope your dd is ok apple.

CCL - but you have worked so darn hard (single handedly) for the last 8 months - I think you deserve a few treats ((( )))

My NSD's are going badly - Friday was a spend day as had to get a new slow cooker, my one broke last weekend - the crock pot bit had broken when I cooked pulled pork. I had a BBQ on Sat and I had offered to do pulled pork so needed another one. I went for a bigger one then last time but it is huge - 5.5l!!! Think I could have gone smaller!!

Yesterday was spend day as had family BBQ and had to get salad etc - I used up what I already had and then brought fresh to replace so should be no waste.
We all had a great time - it's nice when the whole family get together and just eat and drink (non -alcoholic for most) and catch up.

Today will probably be a spend day. DD is being allowed to venture into the big town with a friend unaccompanied. Friend's mum is dropping them off at 12 and we are going in for 2 with collection at 3 so really only 2 hours on their own. They are both 13 and I know in towns and cities kids do this all the time but when you have grown up in a village with no shops etc it's all a bit different.

Need to do more decluttering - started in the week with getting rid of some old committee stuff and have some clothes to go to charity bank.
Have loads of filing and sorting to do so need to do that at some point as well.

Days 4, 5 & 6 catchup. Day 4 spent in waterpark, Day 5 spent mainly travelling back from US and day 6 spent small amount travelling, small amount sleeping (had apprx 7 hours in previous 48) and unpacking.

on food: - airport & plane food consumed on Fri. Yesterday body was all over the place in terms of hunger/ tiredness. Ate a choc chip brioche, a small pkt of salted peanuts (travel size) and then had Indian takeaway for dinner last night. Due to tiredness we managed a meal for 1 between 3 of us!
Shopping lists written for A!di and Tesc0 for this morning for healthier options :D:D

… on wants v needs: - all I bought for myself in US was a new pair of sunglasses @ $35 as my old ones had a crack in one lens. Whilst the takeaway was a want we needed food and all wanted Indian :D

… on exercise: 4th - spent at a waterpark, so did not wear fitbit. Lots of steps climbed to slides, walking around the park and playing/ swimming in the wave pool with the children. Fitbit shows 6602 steps taken whilst back at the villa.
5th - travelling from US, so hours spent on plane. However, still managed 9668 steps and 41 active minutes (rushing around in the morning, I guess!!)
6th - 6392 steps taken. No exercise - lazy day lol

… on screen time: just 1 hour per day for leisure.[/FONT] - pretty sure I managed that in the last 3 days. I didn't even watch any films on the plane. Now that I'm back home I will remove fbk messenger from my phone and just access it from laptop. Will keep fbk itself on for school hols as it's fun checking in to places and posting pics of what we're up to with friends.

… in relationships: - still only seen my immediate family for past few days :)

… on spending: this links to wants v needs. 15 NSD please. - before going to airport we did go to Disney Springs. Got some Lego for Xmas for DS3 at fab price. Bought expensive ice creams to eat as last minute treat for all of us. But we did bring home just over 1/3rd of the cash we took with us for the 3 weeks and did not put any spending there/ travelling to/from there on cards. Was virtually impossible to not spend every day whilst there (parking for the parks, for instance) but was all under budget and in cash. Have decided I will allocate 3 of the days so far this month as NSD where only parking/ minimal food purchased whilst away.

… in health: will book appointments this week

... in possessions: - threw bikini in the bin when finished at waterpark - was 7 years old and I discovered whilst on hols that the elastic on the top of the cups was starting to perish:eek: - time for a new one!!:p:D Also threw my flipflops (broke during holiday and 'mended' with a carrier bag for the rest of the hols) in the bin - approx. 8-9 years old and bought in Thailand by my mum for around £1. DS1's flipflops also thrown (£2 from A5da 4 years ago) as they were cracked all over the bottom.
Since coming back I have put one of the suitcases to go to CS, along with matching (and only used twice in almost 25 years) vanity case. I have also put 2 books which I had for the plane journey to one side to give to my mum later. Neither grabbed me and there are too many unread books in the world (and my bookcase!!:o) for me to struggle along with ones which don't really appeal once started.

Budget for every day’s activities. Look ahead. Plan what is going on. Set realistic limits - holiday budget achieved. Will exchange unused dollars (rate has actually worked for us and is basically what we exchanged at originally) and pay that money off OH's 0% cc (which we bought disney and universal park tickets on)

Have been awake since 7.20, so am hoping to essentially be on 'normal' time today. One lot of (pre holiday) washing on line, another just about to finish in the machine. Fridge all cleaned out whilst it's so empty, ready for stocking back up later. All unpacking done, although not everything has made its way back to the correct places yet.

Weekend challenge - mine is to sort school uniforms - haven't had chance yet (you can tell - I have uniform on the line today lol) - need to check what is outgrown/ tatty and write a list of what is needed. Will also need to get box of uniforms out of attic (3 boys, so I keep whichever uniform clothes items are in acceptable condition to pass down) and see if any items can be reused from there. Will also need a full set of new uniform for DS1 as he is going into 6th form. He is away for 2 weeks from this Sat with Army cadets, so will need to fit his shopping in around that. As I need to purchase a black suit for him I do actually need to take him with me :D - will buy socks, ties and shirts without him, but the suit and shoes require his presence! :D

    apple - ouch poor DD.

Have done some ironing today and have a full wash load drying in the wind, DH is doing some jobs in the garden and I plan to list some things on ebay and gumtree today.

If we can fit it in we may go and get DS's school shoes before we forget all about it.

    Not posted since Thursday- sorry.
Friday was my supper club (my home becomes a restaurant for the evening) and it was a fundraiser so I made £10 profit and £40+ went to a local animal charity. I should count it as a spend day as I bought a few fresh ingredients in the morning but that was paid for by the donations in the evening.

What so you guys think? Does it count as a NSD?

I "saved" around £7 by not having a bottle of wine with the meal (I usually would) and in support of me having a dry month, all the guests decided not to drink either so I cracked out the fancy cordial. :P

Instead of leaving the cleaning until the next day I spent 2 hours washing pots and tidying the kitchen and dining room before bed. It was so good to wake up to a clean space the next day.

Saturday- I spent a small amount on buying cereal (on offer in Asda) then getting CB off it to make an £8 spend into a £4 spend. After the mini shop me and my SO made sandwiches and walked to town (45 min walk each way) to see some live music which was great fun. The sun was shining and I really wanted a fancy drink but resisted a pint of cider (saved £3.50) and had an iced coffee (SO's treat).
A friend with Fibromyalgia was having a bad day so I did some shopping for her and went round to deliver/check on her which turned out to be super fun (she paid me for all the shopping). I came home and cleaned the kitchen then had a salad sandwich for my (super late 9.15pm) dinner.

I managed breakfast (fruit smoothie and suppet club mexican leftovers both days).
Todays breakfast was a banana and (as I'm trying to find savvy waysto replace summer drinks) I made a cafetiere of strong black coffee with vanilla syrup so today I can mix with soy milk and have homemade iced coffee.

I don't have kids Shy so my weekend challenge will be to empty my clothes drawers and figure out what I actually wear then take the rest to a clothes swap thing happening next week so maybe I can get some new threads for free?

Hope you're wll enjoying your weekend!

Ran 8 miles this morning, longest run in about 9 months  Came home and cleaned the house top to bottom although DS (6) did all the vacuuming for me :A

DH went for a run after me and over did it a bit and has been wiped out for the rest of the day and my chest or drawers didn't get built so the room of doom is still in doomesville. He did put the hooks on the back of 3 doors and hand one decorative item.

DH wanted some snacks so went to the local Mr T extra and used one of my vouchers and 68p cash so lost a NSD. All the rest of our meals have been from the freezer/fridge.

Just watched a horrific crash in the ladies cycling event at the Olympics. Hope the rider is OK. :(

    Good day today.
Low kids entertainment spends (park again, & geocaching app)
Did buy coffee though but 2 coffees vs a day trip is good economics.
Used up loads of odds and ends of fruit I'd frozen,in a cake. Did the same thing last week. Its nice to have something fresh to have with coffee whilst Im home.
Also used up a wrap to have some cold pork and coleslaw for lunch.
Binned a pair of kids crocs that the fox had chewed. Its a pain in the backside that animal. It also ruined my garden gloves...grrrr

    Night
