What on earth does the OP do with all her money? Claims to have income of £480 per month, minus £200 rent so £280 to spend on herself. She did say she buys her own food but really she should have about £200 per month over to save. How many people working full time have that amount to spend/save on themselves?

    That should already be happening.
Not just in the OPs case. Anyone all living together should muck-in.

Not really what I meant. I do all the household chores here. My suggestion was the OP could do likewise - a payment in labour kinda arrangement, on top of half towards bills if the half is less than the £200.

At least until she's able to get a job with more hours and thus more pay.
She would always like to say,
Why change the past when you can own this day?

It is also reasonable that the individual should be free to choose whether or not to spend the money in this way, retaining the option of depriving themselves of a 'normal' life and so releasing significant amounts of money to save.
I don't think it is. Disability are given for a specific reason which is to enable to have a normal life. If you don't want a 'normal' life, then don't have it, but don't think it means you are entitled to money from tax payers that is a luxury rather than a need.

I did this for a while when I moved back home but Mum and Dad were still working. I think my Mum would have found it hard to let me get on with everything if she was also at home all day.

Unfortunately, neither my mum nor I have much of a choice in our situation. I do now have an appreciation for all the time it manages to leech though which is why I thought it might be worth offering for the OP.

I was Mum and Dad's carer for some years so I know what you mean.

When we were all younger and I had a few months at home with no job, she was really pleased to go out in the morning to work and come home to a clean house or washing all clean or the shopping done. :)

For her to get her visa she has to show Income evidence that she meets the legal poverty guidelines , which this year is around 16k USD. Her boyfriend handing to her won't suffice

I was referring to the costs associated with the visa etc - presumably what she is saving for. I've no idea what income requirements there might be for a fiances visa - mine was an H1 employment visa and that cost my employers a fair amount in lawyers fees.

I've read all the way through this thread and I don't want to cause anyone extra anxiety, but I've reached the conclusion that the op doesn't really want to have to work at all and believes she should have a free ride. Sorry but it's obvious . . .

If you stay with us here on Mse you'll find there are many here suffering crippling anxiety, we know exactly how you're feeling. There are lots of old threads where posters have poured their hearts out.

    True!

    Stop sniffling for gods sake

I am about your age, and work a fifty hour week with massive anxiety issues which I manage, I take medication and manage it ....and yes I have to be frugal as well, because guess what, I pay my own bills and do not rely on subsidies and there is no way on earth I would expect my retired parents to subsidise me into their twilight years!

Many people are literally working their fingers to the bone and not treating themselves because that is life, and bills, rent mortgage etc come before these beauty treatments you keep mentioning

You really need to pull yourself out of this funk that you are in, that you are the hardest done by person in the world, cos from where I am standing you have it pretty nice

I KNOW my words sound really harsh - but anxiety for me, is obviously all in my head - and if I let it control me, and run away with me, it would. So I have to be strict with myself to keep myself moderately sane! Anxiety is difficult, managing it is very hard to do. But there is no way I am going to be an old lady looking back on my life and realize that anxiety stopped me from actually living.

THIS ^^^ Millions of people have anxiety and still manage to work full time and look after their own family etc.

The OP's parents are enabling the OP's behaviour. She hasn't grown up yet.

As hard as I try, I can't muster up any sympathy for the OP.
    cooeeeeeeeee :j
