Totally off topic but London is a city, though not a borough.. - though its not the one that most think about when they say 'London'

    Regards
    Sunil

Its made up of varying boroughs mate, i'm simply saying it should not be called a city cos its made of these boroughs! You're speaking about 'the city of london' which is referred to as the square mile, but tiny as it is, shouldn't be there cos its quite small. I work in the Square Mile remember lol......

does any one know about one in Doncaster?
I have £294 to put in... I've put it all in seperate sandwich bags for now as there is a lot! If there is a machine in Doncaster do you still have to bag it up in right amounts or just feed it into the machine?
Just thought I'd ask before I give them a ring..
    Thanks :D

AFAIK you just feed the coins into the machine.

Whether there's one in Doncaster - no idea.

Why don't you just take it to your local branch? I don't know about HSBC but Natwest always takes my coins, provided you've counted them. I don't bother with that, I just weigh them myself.
  • If anyone can tell me if there's a coin counting machine at any branch of HSBC, Barclay's, or Natwest in Manchester, then I will gladly transfer all my accounts from Abbey (Bank a/c, ISA, savings etc...) to any bank that can provide this facility. I was left very angry today when my local Abbey branch would only accept a maximum 5 bag rule for paying in some coinage. Besides they are changing their name to 'Santander' soon, so maybe it's time for their customer's to do a little bit of changing too.
  • anybody know if the HSBC branch on Chester Eastage Street has one? not been in in so long and dont really want to drag the tub and find it doesnt have one!

  • I have used a counting machine at the RSB and over various occasions
have loaded several hundred pounds. I have found substantial errors in the counting some uses, so beware! Complaints to the bank, actioned " the engineer has checked and found it OK". I am not convinced and have referred to Trading Standards for investigation. The question needs to be asked - Who independently calibrates this sort of machine, both bank and super markets?

How do you know that there are substantial errors? Do you count up your coins, then put them in the machine? If so, why not just bag them up yourself?

I know that Barclays in Market Street has one, someone stated, elsewhere in this forum, that HSBC in St Ann's Square has one, (in what used to be Waterstones.) I've not checked it myself though. HTH
