The other way you can use up lose change easily is with the self-service tills at supermarkets.
Even if you don't have enough change for the bill it is worth doing.
Say, for example, your bill is 99p and you have a pound coin and 98p in coppers.
You would normally hand over the pound coin and get a penny change. And you'd end up with 99p in coppers.
At the self-service checkout, put in all the coppers first. The machine will say you've got 1p to pay. Put in your pound coin. The machine will give you 99p change - but it will do so in the most efficient way rather than giving you back all your coppers.0 -

I used a Coinstar machine this morning. I counted the money before I left home and reckon I had just over £170 in my bag. I tried to take it to the bank but they would only take 5 bags of coins per day so had to resort to Coinstar in my local supermarket. I tipped the coins in which to a while & to my horror the balance was £109.61. Deduct the fee and I ended up with £99.85!!!!! I tried to complain in the supermarket and was told I had to call coinstar. I did and whilst they initially tried to fob me off they are investigating the machine. Now I know some coins may weigh slightly less than they are supposed to but those should have been dropped back to me. I didn't mind the fee but to con me out of £60 is just plain wrong. I now have to wait 5-7 business days for the machine to be audited. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt for the moment but will update in a week or so.0

I used the coinstar Machine yesterday. I counted about £484.00. out of my large whisky bottle that i had been saving for 3 years and didnt count all the coppers So when the machine said £388.00 then paid me out 354 after there percentage was taken which i didnt mind because it tells you before you start but to loose nearly £100 or more i was in shock. Then i couldnt find the phone number on the machine and didnt even complain but now i have been trying to find a phone number on the coinstar website no luck so can you please tell me the number so i can ask them to investigate this0 -

Don't forget, many Barclays branches also have these coin-sorter machines as well. As a double-bonus, if you have online banking you can get a 3-PC license for Kaspersky 2012 and a single-user license for the mobile version for nowt as well.
Adding-up the above, thats £50 worth of software free and no charges for depositing your coins.Never Knowingly Understood.
