    Cautionary letter from nationwide today

Exactly the same letter I received a couple of weeks ago.

I got my money back! After 3 weeks since I made a claim for charge back, Debit MasterCard with Danske Bank.
Thank you Martin for a template letter and good luck for all of you who's still waiting.
  • Just checked online bank account and the money has been refunded in full from the Halifax!!!:j:j
  • We've just had the money for our accommodation refunded (the only part we'd lost as flights and transfers were still ok). We paid on Santander with a Visa debit and it took a month from my first call to them. Apart from ringing to check they'd received my paperwork back I haven't chased them at all.
  • Just had a refund from barclaycard as a chargeback, still could be disputed within 50 days. I did pay by PayPal over 180 days ago, so chargeback, was my only option. The csr did say they were claiming the money from lch administrators, not paypal, so hopefully should be OK.
    Next year we'll be millionaires!
  • Great news! Can I ask when you put your claim in and if there was correspondence to state that the money was being reimbursed? I just keep getting it will be a few more weeks and I raised the claim on 18th July.
  • I have made a claim through section 75 Tesco credit for the difference it cost me to rebook accommodation when low cost holidays went bust. I had paid for 2 apartments. Tesco are refusing to fully refund because 2 names out of the party ( mother and mother in law ) have a different surname . Can they actually do this ?

Barclays are known for saying that if they are not related, usually friends rather than mothers in law, you probably got paid in cash for their flights/accommodation etc and therefore deny liability on the basis they didn't use the card. You should write back and explain who they are and the fact that you were paying for everyone and did not get paid back by mother and M-I-L
  • Thanks Alan , I only booked accommodation, I have told the credit card company that I paid for everyone which I did they know it's mum and mil , they are just saying they only have to refund card holder and that they sate refunding three other people with my surname but not the mums . Seems weird as I paid it all !

Hi all, need some advise please. I booked a hotel with hotelling.com for a trip in sept. Until today hotel said everything was still ok and I didn't owe them anything. Double checked today and now that is not the case :(. They have offered me the same booking but for £240 more which I've accepted. Luckily I paid for the original booking by post office MasterCard. My question is do I claim back via s75 or chargeback, also can I claim the £240 additional cost back? Many thanks in advance, Donna
