:beer:qHi people,
Have just checked the bank for a totally unrelated matter and found that I have been refunded £1,293.23 into my Santander current account. Still waiting for a further £354.10 to be refunded as Santander (for reasons unknown) put my four transactions onto two disputes.
Good luck to each and everyone of you who are still fighting to get back what is rightful theirs.
That's great news. Can I ask how long it's taken? I'm with Santander too but our claim wasn't put in straight away as we were actually on holiday when it all happened so I had it to sort out when we got. Just wondered what time scale we were looking at.0 -

Hi Lincolnlady,
It's taken about a month or so. I sent the template letter on 15/07 (the morning the news broke). As I said, my transactions were done across two disputes and I had to send the exact same paperwork for the second lot of transitions. These went about a week later so fingers crossed for this time next week.
Good luck with your situation.0 -
Got refund from Lloyds £650 hotel on debit card charge back.......put claim in couple of days after LCH went bust0
-
I've got a result!!!
Barclays Visa Debit. I paid for a hotel only on Hoteling.com. Raised the dispute the day after LCH went bust 16th Jul for a payment at start of March, 2016. Just checked my account and the money is all back £1170.
Really hope it all works out for the rest of you. You all deserve a top holiday.0 -
I purchased the policy online after using a comparison site and specifying that I wanted Third Party Supplier Insolvency cover which was an additional premium. The price comparison site directed me to annualtravelinsurance dot com where I purchased the insurance which included insolvency cover. THANK YOU
Having worked in Insurance harrispb i can offer two possible reasons why they might be able to escape payment
1) the policy claims 'unrecoverable funds'. As low cost was bonded in the Mallorca the funds are not technically 'unrecoverable' even though the estimate is £9 per person would be got back, also if it was paid via credit or debit card or paypal it can be recovered through one of these so the insurance company would escape liability.
2) You will notice the wording of the policy doesn't mention 'booking agent' . Lowcost seem to have worked their business in a very strange fashion, in that you booked with low cost, who then booked with another firm, who had a contract with the hotel. In that instance Lowcost wouldnt in fact be the third party, but the company they booked with are in fact the third party and the ones who actually deal with the hotel
I do agree its worth trying the ombudsman as you with the wording would have the expectation of coverage. However if you did book via card or paypal i would go down this route as its a much better chance of success.0 -

Nice to see Barclays is catching up at last.0 -
Following the collapse of low cost holidays I have negotiated a deal for accommodation directly with the hotel reservation centre via email. They have asked for full payment up front by credit card and want me so copy both sides of my card along with photo ID and send it to them.
They also want names, passport numbers and dates of birth for the group of 11 I am booking for. I’m a bit reluctant to send the information but they said unless I do this they can’t confirm the booking. Has anyone else been asked for this?0 -

I am only passing by this forum, but I would be very hesitant photocopying my card for them. I have never been asked to do this to pay for anything, and there ways of paying by card without doing this.
No idea why they want photo ID either. Especially as you will not be in front of them for them to confirm if it is you or not.
Can you look on their website and find out what they normally request for bookings? Perhaps go through a booking until payment and see what they need?
Also find the passport numbers request strange, but not out and out alarming. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
As an update I've had the funds back from Nationwide today... so be patient nationwide visa debit customers!0

So, I've just got off the phone to Barclays - again! It appears my claim has been put on hold until they receive some additional information from me. They are asking for a breakdown of the costs for the holiday, however I've just explained to them that I have already sent this (its in the LowCost Holidays confirmation document). They have added this note to my case and will look at it again. I'm not sure what else I can send them?0
