  • liuaq,

Barclays can't have had 100k claims. There was only around 137k people affected. That would mean over 70% of the people banked with Barclays. Highly unlikely.

Try contacting Faye via Twitter. I think an update from Barclays is way overdue.

  • Hi folks - I had a hotel-only booking with LCH, all paid for, but I paid 1/3 by debit card (deposit) and 2/3 by AMEX. At the moment I am following a chargeback on the 2/3 and section75 through AMEX on the other 1/3 as apparently they are still liable for the full amount through s75 even if I only paid a portion of total with card. My alternative is to go for a chargeback through FirstDirect / HSBC instead but I feel like half chargeback and half s75 is a better option - any thoughts? Also does anyone have a copy of the LCH ToS? The link no longer works and I apparently need to provide this for a s75 claim...

    Cheers
  • Exactly what I'm getting. I called today... 'no update still processing due to the volume of claims' said they would request an update from the team for the account details they have 48 hours to reply to that....

Is it just barclays dragging their heels?

Interesting, I'd stick with AMEX as the S75 is the stronger protection, but interesting that they are pursuing some on chargeback.

Have tried to have a look for the ToS on waybackmachine[dot]org, but it was a download and can't access it as that web site only takes snapshots, so looks like you won't be able to get them I'm afraid. You could try contacting the administrators, but I'd do that quickly as they'll most likely can the website on the 19th if that's when the access to the booking info is lost.

Yeah they explained it to me as 'section 75 means you're basically suing us' whereas the charge-back doesn't. It felt like they were really pushing me to follow the charge-back on my debit card as well.. which made me sceptical / want to proceed with the s75!

Blimey, strong words. Personally I would think the chargeback on the debit card deposit would be contested as you have the S75 cover, so not the greatest advice there from AMEX.

I cross my fingers for you and hope you get a good result and soon, and keep us updated when you do.
  • Hi the Barclays claim is just for the hotel. I was frustrated that they were asking for information again that I had already provided so went into my local branch. I do think that this does help as they called the chargeback team and asked for some notes to be added regarding the claim. I was also told that it was 6/8 weeks but from the start of the claim on 16th July. They did say it may add a week on with the request for extra information but we're still positive about the money being reimbursed. Not ideal but better than the call centre, it did help that the member of staff dealing with me had booked through Lowcost themselves but on a credit card...Totally agree that an update is long overdue.

Posted on FB earlier today, edited slightly so the email address will get through, but anyone having issues might want to get in touch with them.

"David Dunkerley. Hi There, I'm working on the next series of Rip Off Britain: Live. We are looking to do a film about Lowcost holiday's closure. We are looking to speaking to people who have been affected by this who would like to be in our film. (Apologies for the double post!) if you would like to be involved or have your story heard please get in touch via email david[dot]dunkerley@bbc[dot]co[dot]uk . Many thanks, David."
