Thanks for your reply. Sorry I probably didn't make myself clear. I didn't even attempt to claim from Paypal as thought it was a non-starter being outwith the 180 days. So claimed through Halifax for that portion too. When I put the claim in she mentioned it was through Paypal but didn't say I couldn't claim for it.

So the whole claim was through Halifax but they split it into 2 claims, one paid straight from debit card and the other via Paypal. I've been refunded the former, but not the latter.

Just wondered if anyone else was in the same situation!

    Thanks
    Judy
  • Had a response from Barclays regarding my refund. They said it is temporary until the investigation has completed, usually takes 6-8 weeks. If LCH don't dispute the claim by Nov-9th then the claim has been settled in my favour. They stated that this is part of the Visa Scheme rules. I am assuming (and hoping) that it will not be disputed.

I have just received confirmation from Santander MasterCard, S75 department that I also will be getting a full refund. This has taken around 3 weeks, since they originally wrote to tell me they hoped to process my claim within 8 weeks.

I'd booked accommodation only, so was a little surprised at how easy it was, especially as the S75 wording appears to offer clear get out for the credit card companies. As I hadn't booked a package holiday I was beginning to think my money had gone, or I was in for a long fight at best.

Anyway, hopefully this is good news for others, that the log jam is now starting clear and you may also be getting good news in the near future.

With help from this website site, posts on this thread and the Consumers Association I have managed to progress a claim (the holiday was ATOL protected through a travel agent) to the agent and have actually had a refund!
The refund comprised the second (higher cost)payment to the accommodation owners (had to pay them direct) plus all the associated extras which that entailed I.e. receipted justifiable expenses.

So very much a result on that front. Must add my thanks for all the advice (even if not specific to me or the LCB administration) and useful posts.

I still feel for those as yet not so fortunate and hope this can be the start of something better for travellers, we certainly need it

Did you pay with a debit or credit card?

I'd put it in one of Martin's template letters and make it clear it's part to the original Section 75 claim, and that you didn't want to rebook the hotel till you had the original money back. It should be covered under 'reasonable extra expenses' as you have rebooked the same hotel. Now they may say it might have had to have been raised at the same time, or that as you were not on the holiday when they went bust it doesn't apply. You could then take them to the ombudsmen for a fair adjudication if you still don't agree. If you have the time to do it, then getting £269 back for the cost of a stamp is probably worth it.
