I paid £1090 in 5 installments by Visa Debit Card. I registered my chargeback claim with Barclays on 5th August and all of the money was returned to my account today. No accompanying letter as yet.0

Hi all, need some advise please. I booked a hotel with hotelling.com for a trip in sept. Until today hotel said everything was still ok and I didn't owe them anything. Double checked today and now that is not the case
. They have offered me the same booking but for £240 more which I've accepted. Luckily I paid for the original booking by post office MasterCard. My question is do I claim back via s75 or chargeback, also can I claim the £240 additional cost back? Many thanks in advance, Donna
Hi Donna
I booked a holiday with hoteling.com, also for a September trip. This was paid for on a Halifax clarity MasterCard credit card. I made a section 75 claim the day after lowcost went into admin and received a full refund back to my card approx 14 days later.
For info I phoned Halifax to lodge a claim and also emailed all the appropriate paperwork to their disputes team (ie lloyds disputes), the paper work included copies of the original invoice and also proof that hoteling.com were part of lch and were in admin. The covering email was basically the template letter re section 75.
Hope this helps"A bargain is something you can't use at a price you can't resist." Franklin Jones0 -
Had £1200 refunded yesterday, as a Chargeback via MBNA VISA for accommodation for 8 nights at end July, through Hoteling.com. Took 5 weeks from start, but they told me to repay hotel on same card and they would freeze any payments or interest until claim was resolved.0

Paid half holiday on Amex other half with Bank of Scotland debit card. Amex customer service has been brilliant. I had a named person in charge of the case and always got to speak to them or they called me back quickly.
I asked for a section 75 claim as wanted to claim all with Amex. They decided to go diwn chargeback route for the Amexpart and section 75 for the other. Got a letter today to confirm both claims had been successful. Delighted!0 -
If i booked a hotel and have already stayed and now they are asking me to pay, do i have to? Isnt it their problem that they didnt check before letting us stay?0

Just spoke to Halifax as over a month had passed since receiving a temporary refund to my account and balances for new bookings need to be paid. They are now telling me that LCH have 45 days to dispute the transaction despite everything I've read so far stating it should be 30 days?? :mad:0

Try and talk to Citizen's Advice (03454 04 05 06) if you can, doesn't sound right if it was their error and they let you leave without asking for payment at the time, did you hand over your LCH voucher when you checked in? However, if you want to avoid legal implications you could pay them and then initiate a chargeback or Section 75 against the original payment made to LCH. You won't end up out of pocket (unless they have charged you a higher price). Difficult situation to be in, how did they get in contact with you about it?0 -

I submitted my claim to Barclays on 18th July and have phoned today for the 20th time to be told that although they have my forms they cannot say when I will receive the £3000 that I had to repay to the hotel. To add insult to injury when I was put through to the chargeback team finally nobody bothered to answer and when I asked if anyone was going to speak to me they said they had just been taken ill and couldn't talk! It's disgraceful how Barclays have treated their customers compared to ot her banks and I will be leaving as soon as reimbursed after 30 years of banking with them - enough is enough.0

Have received my money back through Halifax complaints team, who were brilliant. Applied for a charge-back on my Visa debit card on 2nd August at my local branch, know body contacted me for a month ? I contacted Resolver on this website and the Halifax complaints team contacted me the next day, I sent all the relevant documents to my adviser ( who was brilliant ) within 4 days I have been told Halifax will refund the cost of my Holiday and in addition another £130 because of the stress involved and the amount of time lapsed, this compensation also includes expenses for any Telephone calls and visiting my local branch and of course the initial non contact as promised. I am delighted with the outcome, thank you Resolver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0
