I bet she fights her way to sit in the front row as well.
I can offer no resistance, I can offer no respite
Wake me when conflict is over,
I aim for a peaceful life,
Wake me up when the fury is ended
I like living a peaceful life

I hope that you gained something of value and use from the replies/comments you got.

It can be disheartening and feel like hostility when the replies you get are not universally sympathetic or appear to be 'against' your own perspective.

However, I firmly believe that sometimes the responses that put up our backs the most are the very ones that make us pause for thought and look at things in a new light.

    Good luck.

You also say 'At ten years old children also pick up when Gran doesn't like the much younger women who took her husband away' ?? Um, no they don't. Not unless they're hearing that from somewhere. That's not how nine or ten year olds are wired.[/QUOTE]

I felt obliged to reply to you, (splishsplash) it would be rather rude not to. I apologise for my ignorance. There I am thinking my son has an understanding of our family through his own eyes and mind. I had no inclination he or any other 9-10 year old weren't wired up that way yet.
Your obvious degree in child psychology and the anatomy of the brain years 9-10(boys only?) has now opened my eyes to the fact that I haven't had a clue in regards to my wonderfully bright, intelligent and emotionally aware child. I must have a chat later with him and explain he cannot have any views or opinions until, um????? When would you say? Purleease :rotfl:

dodo01 your attitude to people have posted makes me sympathise with your husband and MIL. Are you always so unpleasant?

I too thought the OP'S last post was silly and unnecessary.

I feel really sorry for the OP's OH who is caught in the middle of this mess.

    What an incredibly sad thread!

Life is too short to cut n' paste the comments that I found most upsetting, but it seems to me that OP is really very, very similar to the type of person she describes her MiL to be.. Not surprising; they say men marry someone like their Mum!

That many modern-day parents who've commented here feel so aggressive about controlling input from Grandparents is heart-breaking - it won't do the kids any favours!
Remember the saying: It takes a village to bring up a child.
I'd modify that to say it takes many people to bring up a healthy, well-balanced child.

Looking round at society today, it's clear that many First World children have far too few caring influences during their formative years.
