Penny, I did suggest a separate thread, but frogga wanted to keep to this one. Who should I PM to get an OS weight loss thread?? Edit: Thinking about it, weight loss IS Old Style - if we eat less, we buy less food and that saves us money and that is OS, isn't it?? So, as in any other OS thread, you don't have to read everything, do you?

    Hi, :)

We, the Board Guides, have been watching the growth of weight loss posts here in the daily and until recently have felt that there weren't enough of them to cause us any concern... but they've been increasing in numbers lately.

While dieting is indeed old... (there's grafitti on the walls of Pompeii for diets!) it is not purely Old Style (though there's admittedly some crossover) and it's not purely MoneySaving - though there are ways to do so in a thrifty way.

There are two excellent threads which provide support, inspiration, advice and tips on the forums, here:-

A sticky on the I wanna board - Lose Weight 14

And a well supported thread in The Arms - Is anyone else on here trying to lose weight ?

Those two places are THE best places to post when you are trying (hopefully succeeding) to lose weight and it is why we regularly point new threads towards them.

    Please make use of them.

  • As far as I can see no one is telling anyone to push off and to think that seems to be a bit of an over reaction......
    .................
It's not up to me who posts what but I and the others who have spoken out do have the right to say how we feel. I hope we can all continue to post and no one feels "got at".

Of course I don't feel "got at" being told that my reaction is an over reaction...............................;)

Following is a general point not aimed at anyone in particular.....

I've sat and read through loads of things that people do in their own lives that don't really interest me, or upset me a great deal, or even hurt, and I've managed to cope with it without comment because I understand that is part of other people's daily lives. It's all about the variety. Heck, I've even looked at photos of sticky sweet sugary cakes when the mere thought of sweet food turns my stomach, but I can still appreciate the hard work and effort that has gone into creating these masterpieces.

I'm just surprised that people aren't as tolerant themselves. After all, the weight loss campaign (which is only a side-line, not the topic of this thread), and the ending results is a major part of some people's DAILY lives. I may not be approaching it seriously but if it hadn't been mentioned on here I would still have my head stuck into the sand about not fitting most of the clothes in the wardrobe, so I appreciate the reminders, and can appreciate that people are doing well in their own attempts in their lives.

Each person that is writing on here about the challenge will know full well that OS includes other people following their lives and the cooking etc that involves. They've been OSing longer than challenging! Weight loss in daily lives AND the discipline learnt to avoid temptation in eating is something they all will have to deal with so people shouldn't have doubts about reporting what cooking etc they've done or nice meals out they've had. It's life.

I just seriously hope that the anti-feelings towards Frogga's challenge have not sent her back to the Binge routine that she has successfully avoided for a while now.

*aussielass* thanks for your kind pm
*anniestar* so sorry to hear about Phoebe, crossing paws and fingers here for you

well I'm trying to get back on the MS and OS wagon, so today:
Got up with DS at 5.45am, brought washing in form line, put new load of washing out - nad have managed another 2 loads washed and on the airer or the line. Trying to take advantage of the fact i am at home now to get more washing lien dried etc - saving tumble dryer for emergancies.
Also trying out homemade washing powder but can't find borax in tesco so have to go into town tommorrow with DS and try wilkinsons.
I am using washing soda and napisan to wash ym nappies in however and discovered i can easily use 1/2-2/3 of washing liquid recomended.

Made oat bread using flour and a packet of old readybrek i would have thrown out otherwise. _-just about to eat two fo the breadbuns for lunch, 3 loaves and two large pizza bases.

Dug out my old widenecked thermos flask to make yogurt but have no dried milk powder so again that will have to wait until tommorrow.

trying to do the reading for my dissertation and failing miserably - want to go balckberry picking instead!
