Special hugs to jackieO ,penny pincher and kyle.
I was feeling sorry for myself as we have just been told we have lost the house we wanted, but have realised that there is a lot worse that could have happened.
Washing is on the line and DD is about to go to work. She starts uni in a couple of weeks and it will be strange without her.
Will break the news to DH when he gets home after making him a huge mug of tea!
Might make veg mince with potatoes or pasta tonight.
Finally ironed some shirts for DH and he was really appreciative. Have been sidetracked with other stuff for the last few weeks.

Hi
I don't think Pen Pen and Pen Pin are telling ANYONE to go away.
Just that the daily thread is for a daily chat about OS. I (though this is only my opinion) don't see any harm in having a thread on the OS board about weight loss. I do appreciate that the people on the OS board are a friendly lot, so keeping the weight loss thread on the OS board sounds good. But could we keep the daily to OS and our day. Remember the whole board is OS - not just the daily thread.
I really don't want to stir things up (again). (Does the size of font help "de-emphasise" (is that a word?) these comments?)
I would never tell anyone to go away. Your all fabulous people:D

Well I certainly don't find THIS conducive to staying.
We've all got our own bug-bears, whether it be long-term sickness, depression, troubles with neighbours, pets, school-term clothing issues etc, and I thought that this was a thread where people supported eachother in their OS ways. Personally I don't have kids and thus don't have the schoolterm costing issues, the kids going to school for the first time, or anything like that, BUT I'm NOT going to suggest that those topics go on a separate OS-School Thread. So what's different about weight loss?0 -
Penny Pincher
Sorry to have caused confusion - I was referring to FBThree's comment about feeling being told to "push off". And trying to reassure her that this was not what was meant by Pen Pen's post.
I know you would never tell anyone to go away, and that's what I was trying to say too.
Slinks off- must remember to be clear and not mumble!:o
BTW - I am enjoying keeping up with all the weight loss comments. Oh. How do I wish I hadn't got involved."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
Sorry, but i agree with the 2 PPs.
Ive noticed in the last few weeks how this thread has changed from the daily OS chat about our days - the ups and downs of our lives into something a lot more clicky.
A lot of old 'regulars' no longer post, and i often find now on the days i do post, that i am almost completely ignored, and im sure im not the only one who feels this way.
The opening sticky, spells out what this thread is about - people mentioning how their weight loss is going is fine, chat about it afterwards should either be on a weight loss thread or by PM. My children going back to school last Thursday was a one day mention, mentioning other things my children/me/family/friends do tend to be just me mentioning whats going on in my day - not asking for hints/tips/support. If i wanted advice, i would be off to another board or thread.
Its the friendliness and support on this thread that has kept it going strong, thats why when the first mentions of the weight loss challenge was fine, but now it isnt OS, its weight loss, so shouldnt really be on an OS daily thread.
And before anyone comes down on me, thats my opinion and why i really dont post much now - was going to post about my news today but after the 'help and support' ive not had today (but then im not losing weight) i really cant be bothered.
Tierd mum - thank you tho, will PM you xx0 -
ooh great to see it all kicking off again:rolleyes: , i havent seen too much written about froggas chellenge and i agree a seperate thread for support would be great but last time someone tried that it got moved to lose weight, while that is a great thread in itself maybe some people would rather speak with fellow os'ers?
i am not fussed either way as i only say what i have lost on a monday which i have always done anyway
hugs to penelope penguin and penny pincher, dont feel as if u are kicking people off with whats been said, the thread has been more chatty but as long as there is os in the topic it shouldnt be a concern

 Morning all, hope everybody is having a decent day. Haven't been on for a bit "stuff" really. Things somewhat better now. Added to that been having HUGE cat problems again!!! My beloved Phoebe(who is beautiful in every way-even non cat lovers comment on her)my little grey and white girl has been very poorly. Have been a bit worried about her as you know for a bit but, having moved to a supposidly cat specialist practice(yeah right !!  ) to ensure she got the best of care have been increasingly worried/unhappy.Anyway,took her back to original vets last wed.Not good. Vet was very worried about her and thought she may have a tumour.Took various blood tests(pre op bloods, thyroid function etc) and said depending on how they came back I may have to strongly consider putting her down:eek: She also had the new injectable anti biotic and a pain killing injection.Spent the rest of the day in pieces. First bloods came back fine, she seemed lots better and htyroid test came back negative:j :j Took her back yesterday(after not sleeping at all Sunday night after VERY lurid dreams about vets) She is much better and whilst they cannot totally rule out a tumour they think its much less likely now. So they are going to operate on Thursday morning. She is such a sweetie and a joy to know. Added to that I am very angry at the "specialist" vet who,has not listened to anything I have said. Now clearly I am not a vet but having had cats all my life(my first memory is being badly scratched by a cat), having been involved with cat rescue for over 15years have SOME idea of what the problem might be. I feel his unwillingness to listen to me has made things worse. As a conciquence I am making a formal complaint to the RCVS. Hopoefully it may save another cat from suffering in this way. Sorry for the rant
Pen-pin!!! BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU:bdaycake: :bdaycake:

Oh Gawd!! Here we go again.
I'll admit to feeling odd about this weight loss stuff too.
I come on here to post and read about Old Style. I don't have a problem with hearing that people want to lose weight but turning this thread into a weight loss challenge deprives the rest of us of what we come here for.
There are other threads on this forum for that purpose or another could be started surely. I just don't think the Old Style board is the place for it and it's much better suited to "I wanna" or "the Arms". Or what about private messages?
As far as I can see no one is telling anyone to push off and to think that seems to be a bit of an over reaction. But it's got to the stage now where I don't want to post that I've eaten or cooked for fear I might tempt someone away from their diet.
It's not up to me who posts what but I and the others who have spoken out do have the right to say how we feel. I hope we can all continue to post and no one feels "got at".

Had a busy weekend. OH busy with DIY so I did a huge batch bake of flapjacks, biccies, banana cake, brownies and pancakes. Hugh FW's Family Cookbook is my bible.
Mushrooming yesterday produced enough oysters and chantarelles for a few meals so Beef and mushroom pie for tea tonight. House was licked and polished before I left for work but needs more attention this pm. Anyone of a nervous disposition look away now cos I'm gonna swear.....
I have to iron a mountain of clothes that is taller than me.:eek:
Hope everyone has a great day. Hugs to JackieO, PP and Kyle and good luck at the solicitor's CrazyChik.

You put it so much better than me Cat.:A And I miss all the regulars who don't bother much now for whatever reason. This is not a cliquey thread and never has been and I think newbies get an amazing welcome and fit in really quickly so please don't think this is about new people coming in. Compared to some of the oldies on hereI'm just a little baby oldstyler. Aren't I Aussie??:o;) xxx
