I am not a typical EU resident. My ancestry is very mixed. I come from a rather poor country in the world with very mixed heritage. My EU passport is actually Irish (I didn't really want to reveal too many details) so I was eligible to vote, and did so. Most of the other Irish people I know voted remain. I have nowhere really to "leave" to as the UK is my home. I have never lived in Ireland.
I can only speak for myself. Last year I quit work and started a consulting business where I advise and work for various fintech companies on a certain aspect of their business. My domain is fairly niche. It is too early to tell what impact brexit will have on my own business but obviously if the tech or finance sector shrinks it will be bad.
Having said I have nowhere really to leave to, I don't mean I am tied to the UK. I am very willing to move somewhere else to follow the job market. In fact for a number of years I've been contemplating heading to Asia (Singapore, Tokyo or Hong Kong) to experience something new.0 -

Not just EU residents, lots of UK residents will be looking to leave too, so we're facing a real brain (and financial drain).
We're likely to have an exodus of: Science, financial, medical and trade workers, biased heavily towards the higher paying end of the spectrum.
In enough scale that it'll skew the average wage downwards.0 -
Well 52% seem to be but I think that will reduce when they realise immigration isn't going to fall as much as they think. In fact I think some won't be happy when it dawns on them we are no going to send home existing immigrants.
Less than 52% are currently happy, a lot of Leavers seem quite upset about the realisation of what they've done, and that they've been lied to.
Once the remaining Leavers realise that nothing will change about EU law or foreigners, the excrement will really hit the fan.0 -
I can see where Yolina is coming from.
Italian woman who has been living in the UK for 30-odd years on LBC yesterday, completely in tears because some brexiteer shouted at her to pack her bags, Polish people being attacked on buses, vandalising their cultural centres, Lihtuanian waitresses being taunted with 'why are you smiling, we're sending you home!' (she probably had a good cry behind the counter afterwards).
This used to be a tolerant country. Not anymore I'm afraid.
Yes, I know not all brexiteers are racists bladibla.... but remember, these are your bedfellows. I hope you can put the genie back in the bottle.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

Plenty to be cheerful about.
Oil price is trending upwards and £:$ hasn't been lower since around March 1986. I've polished my rose tinted glasses but I'm struggling with the positive in that.0 -

Some will. Most won't.
That's always been the case, particularly when there's been free movement.
If you've got kids in school here the liklihood of you upping sticks is low.
Other things such as family, friends, spouse will anchor you to a particular country more often than not. I can speak from some experience here.
It'll most likely be single people, no dependants who are most likely to make the move, and unless they're lucky they're unlikely to be at the higher end of their career scale. Generally the higher you get the more anchors you put down within the country.0 -
I thought this was for positive BREXIT posts but it seems to have made a turn somewhere.
It will be wonderful for our fishermen to get the fishing rights in our own waters back.
Also we do not have to listen to the orders from the EU any more
or go cap in hand for anything and we can have our own laws back again. It will be difficult at first (as are most things) but once we are well into it the United Kingdom will be better for it."Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety". - Benjamin Franklin0 -

Evidence?
Didn't a previous poster post we were being regarded as a safe haven from the ongoing crisis in the EZ.
Also,,The UK still offers a nice way of life - no guns. Free healthcare - good state schools. I'm sure we will always be able to attract the talent we need. Probably more so now.Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.0
