    ...why?

Net immigration is a net increase to the economy - they give more than they take. With an aging population, we need working aged immigrants to do our jobs and pay for pensions. We need them to make up for the woeful staffing shortfalls in the NHS.

Admittedly, post Brexit there may not be any well paid jobs for migrants to do, but they'll still contribute.

do you consider unrestricted immigration a good thing then?
do you consider increase in population with all it entails as a good thing in its own right?

Immigration isn't unrestricted. UK has very tough immigration and visa entry criteria that are costly, restricting and unforgiving.

What isn't unrestricted is immigration within EU/EEA countries something which isn't going to change as a result of this referendum. It's all been a pointless and costly exercise from a campaign that misguided people thinking that it would result in less immigration but will only result in a drop of their own income. *facepalm*

The only symptoms shown by immigration pressure is poor government planning or funding. We can easily accommodate, treat and educate them all, if only we bothered investing any effort into housing, hospitals or schools.

Why do you regard it as a bad thing?

I know that non EU immigration is restricted.
my question revolves around the idea that some say immigration is good and beneficial; so it is reasonable question to ask if people feel unrestricted immigration would be beneficial.

Why don't you make your case for it not being beneficial, instead of asking the same loaded question over and over? I mean, I think I've answered you 3 times already.

For clarity; free movement of EU citizens has been and would continue to be beneficial for the UK residents and economy. We need the workers, their skills, their spending and their tax revenue. They are a net contributor.

when you say poor government funding ; presumbaly you mean they should increase taxes to pay for the infrastructure for schools, hospitals and housing.
How much extra would you be willing to pay 5p or 10p or more in the pound in income tax?

I agree with everything you say : I clearly stated that I believe we are all equal.

Do you believe that there should be unrestricted migration?

You always fall back to the same old tired stuff when your stupid posts are revealed as stupid.

I've answered you already about unrestricted migration, feel free to go dig out my previous answer instead of trying to "win" by misdirection.

They should stop wasting it on projects people don't want, or doing things badly like that horrendous PPI scheme. Or punishing the economy with ineffective austerity measures that only make things worse.

Incidentally, the increase in tax from the migrants *should* be able to cover the cost of expanding the infrastructure to suit.

Again, do you want to try and state your case, or are you to keep asking loaded questions that aren't relevant to the discussion?

Why don't you like immigration? Too many foreign neighbours?

    The case goes that

    - large scale immigration keeps wages down
    - large scale immigration reduces incentives for employers to innovate or improve productivity which will hold wages down
    - there are major costs associated with the necessary infrastructure required ; roads, public transport, school, houses, hospitals
    - the infrastructure will cost a lot of money which will require higher taxes
    - more people means more imports of essential products -food, fuel etc which is making our trade deficit very large.
-we fund the trade deficit by selling off our industry and borrowing more and more money on the foreign markets
-seeling off our industry means we lose the future dividend flows : good for the people today and bad news for the future
    - the housing available for young people in the SE/London is decreasing as the population rises and the accommodation doesn't
-roads, public transport etc is increasingly over crowded.
-access to health care is increasingly difficult.

overall the increasing population is of no benefit and makes our relatively small isle a more crowded place with poorer housing and facilities
