Well high oil price is good for Scotland and a weaker pond is good f for exporters so I'm guessing someone somewhere is happy :)

Yes, all those factories fully equipped and staffed have been hanging around for the last 30 years just waiting this moment. Flick the switch lads.

Oh, Nicola Sturgeon will be happy too - that always warms my heart

My company yesterday fired dozens of people because of Brexit. We are a financial institution based in Knightbsidge, in London.

As far as I can see things are already unravelling at very fast pace. Friends of mine have been racially attacked and there's anger and hostility in the air.

Usually political decisions never directly affect me, but now everyone I know including me is affected somehow and it's only in a NEGATIVE way.

Like I said, banks have already talked about moving thousands of jobs overseas. Now, either the staff move or the jobs just disappear, with similar consequences - huge losses of revenue.

If the investment banks can't trade in Euros, then they'll have no choice but to move into the EZ. If that happens we stand to lose about 10% of our economy overnight.

We're already seeing huge cuts in research investment, which will be met with the researchers moving away. I can't see them being replaced with anything.

I'm really not sure new UK will be in a position to lure anyone over to replace the brains we're pushing out.

I am not a typical EU resident. My ancestry is very mixed. I come from a rather poor country in the world with very mixed heritage. My EU passport is actually Irish (I didn't really want to reveal too many details) so I was eligible to vote, and did so. Most of the other Irish people I know voted remain. I have nowhere really to "leave" to as the UK is my home. I have never lived in Ireland.

I can only speak for myself. Last year I quit work and started a consulting business where I advise and work for various fintech companies on a certain aspect of their business. My domain is fairly niche. It is too early to tell what impact brexit will have on my own business but obviously if the tech or finance sector shrinks it will be bad.

Having said I have nowhere really to leave to, I don't mean I am tied to the UK. I am very willing to move somewhere else to follow the job market. In fact for a number of years I've been contemplating heading to Asia (Singapore, Tokyo or Hong Kong) to experience something new.

I wish you well what ever you decide and whatever life throws at you.
You clearly are flexible and have no particular love or loyalty to this country.
Whilst I fully understand and agree all people are equal, given the situation in the world, I wish the best for this country rather than considering the welfare of all 8 billion of us in the world.

It is that context that brexit is best for the people of the UK. Everyone here should be made welcome and treated equally but we need to limit further immigration to low numbers.

    ...why?

Net immigration is a net increase to the economy - they give more than they take. With an aging population, we need working aged immigrants to do our jobs and pay for pensions. We need them to make up for the woeful staffing shortfalls in the NHS.

Admittedly, post Brexit there may not be any well paid jobs for migrants to do, but they'll still contribute.

I pay taxes (a lot of taxes as it happens), I shop in British shops, eat and drink at British pubs, play sport with British people, my partner is British (half), I stand up for elderly people on transport, I smile at shop tellers, I pick up litter, I am nice to my neighbours.

Am I different from you? I certainly am in one way in that I consider nationalism (what you might say as love and loyalty) as an antiquated and sometimes harmful view. I am a citizen of the world. But I understand that national pride is very powerful and I will be looked down on for my view.

Equally a lot of Remainers seem quite happy that things are not as bad as they expected. It's possible thst a second referendum would lead to an even bigger Leave vote.

I doubt that. I have not heard one remainer doubt their vote and most like me are very angry but just getting on with things.

A second referendum will have about 3-5 scenarios of what we want (Norway, Switzerland option etc) rather than an in or out question. If I was to be very unkind about the leave voters who did not seem to know what they were voting for and why I seriously doubt some of them will be able to understand this.

I agree with everything you say : I clearly stated that I believe we are all equal.

Do you believe that there should be unrestricted migration?

Yes*. I think we need it.
Of course, I don't think we should necessarily be paying benefits to any migrants unless they've already contributed here. Just as I don't think we should be paying benefits to any locals who are able but aren't looking for work.
