Seems that they are offering a standard £10 discount offer regardless of the package - the higher your current sub. , the less attractive that £10 is going to be !!
Well, well - just looked at Sky app and the discount for contract renewal has gone up to £15pm - still not good enuf but interesting that the offer is getting better as the end of the minimum contract period draws nigh !!
  • Hi,

I was paying £41.40 for the following which we never really watched much off anyway if I'm honest:

    Sky signature - £19.50
    Sky sports complete - £8
    Sky Cinema - £3.90
    Sky Sports HD - £2
    Sky HD - £4
    Sky Go Extra - £0
    Ultra HD - £4

Price rise was pushing this up to £51 but still in contract so took out sky stream with sky essential TV for £18 to cancel out the Sky Q contract, I then cancelled sky stream within my cooling of period and now have freeview - cost £0 per month!
That's a very cute manoeuvre. Did you read about that somewhere on the forum?

    Cheers
  • I cancelled Sports and Signature package last month and they aren't giving any good deals on Sky Q anymore, on live chat for me anyway. They are just pushing you towards Sky Stream and Glass. Can anyone recommend a good recordable freeview/freesat box now I can't use the Sky Box properly anymore?

For Freeview, I would recommend the Manhattan.

I asked Sky what my options were and they suggested getting Sky stream in order to leave Sky Q contract, I then asked if I could cancel if I didnt like it and be contract free and they said yes you get 31 days cooling off period with stream. All fairly easy to do :)

They offered me sky essential for £18 - I didn't try to haggle as I was only taking it in order to cancel again

We had been paying £53.50 for Sky Signature, Sky Sports HD, Sky HD, Sky Go Extra. Our contract was due to end on 6 September. The new billing price was showing as £85.50 but got an offer of £75.50 in our Sky account.

On 25 July, I went on to Sky Chat and got offered £60.50 for the above.

I also asked what the price would be to include Multiscreen. I was told £68.50.

I still decided to still go ahead and give notice of cancellation.

As luck would have it we were actually on holiday on 6 September when the cancellation took effect and just got home last night - 16 September - so today I phoned Sky to see what they could offer.

We got offered £44 for Sky Signature, Sky HD, Sky Sports, Sky Sports HD, Sky Sports and Sky Cinema. (There was no mention of Sky Go Extra and we didn't notice it was missed off. I'm not sure if it's something we need.) We're actually not fussed about having Sky Cinema but when we asked about taking it off, we got told that it would actually increase the cost! (I do think I've read about this before in this thread.)

To add Multiscreen to the above we were told would be £10, so £54 per month.

We have accepted the £54 offer as it is just £0.50 more than we have been paying and we are also getting Sky Cinema plus Multiscreen (just in one additional room.) (Apparently, we have an old Sky+ box so an engineer is coming out to replace it with a Sky Q 1TB UHD box. No other fees are to be added on.) This is for a 24 month contract.

We are pleased with this. I hope the experts on here think it is also a good deal.

Mardrew, thank you for posting. We asked for cinema and as you said it reduced the price (more is less it seems) to the same £44 as you.

Sorry for the delay in getting back with the breakdown. It's:

    Sky Signature £22
    Multiscreen £10
    Sky HD £5
    Sky Sports £8
    Sky Cinema £7
    Sky Sports HD £2
    Totalling £54

I've just taken a look at the first estimated bill and it's all looking a bit weird - and it is showing a £10 administration fee which I'm sure the person I spoke to said wouldn't be added on. I'll give it a few days to see if these change and, if not, I'll need to get in touch with Sky.
