Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

Hi all, so I’ve been a sky V.I.P for around 10 years.
I have read a fair bit of the forum (granted not all 707 pages), but I am a far from an expert. I got the full sky tv package through a friend who worked for sky for £25 a month around a decade ago.
roll onto now, and it’s hovered around £40 of
late after many years of haggling. I have got sky signature I think, plus sports HD. My broadband is with Virgin. Last month I went to cancel and they said my bill for £60+ has already come off and I can’t get a refund on that. I asked for a free trial on movies and kids stuff as I said I may aswell get what I can for all money I’ve spent over the years.
Anyway, I explained I was on holiday now and since then I received an email with a countdown of
how many days I have to accept the great offer of £42 for sky plus the £10 admin fee. I have since had emails saying I need to send a box back as they have sent me something through the post. Royal Mail have also sent me emails saying I need to respond to something. As others have said, they have made me want to say “thanks, but no thanks”.I may aswell completely ride this out now I guess, as it won’t do me any harm.0 -
Seems a risk letting it expire if it’s Sky Q you have given they dont offer that to new customers anymore and pushing everyone to Stream.Interestingly I had another call today and they said they have more wriggle room with Q than Stream. Also, here’s a new one, I saved a Sky number and it called back on Monday. Only this time, it was O2 as that’s who the sims with Virgin were with. When today’s Sky person spoke to me, he had listens to the previous conversations to get a feel for handling my issues. He said ‘I spent 30mins listening to a call then realised it was O2, so wasted time’. Anyone else know that Sky and O2 are calling from the same call centres and can seemingly access each others’ calls?!0

Was the call centre abroad or in UK?0

Hi all,
Recently cancelled Sky Broadband and Q services and allowing them to disconnect.
I found the online chat via this link extremely helpful.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/comeback?aw
It says this is for customers looking to rejoin Sky. Not sure if you'd be able to deal with them if you're still in cancellation period but worth a go.
Now back with Sky for £116.49 a month (inclusive of April 2025 price increase). It's a chunk cheaper than my package got to by the end of its fixed term, and loads cheaper than the rolling amount I would have remained on.
Sky Signature
Sky Sports
TNT Sports
Sky Cinema
HD/UHD
Netflix Premium Boost
Ultrafast FTTP 300mbps broadband.
I was happy with the opening offer to be honest but a couple of bits of advice.
I asked if they could increase my broadband speed from my previous 150mbps package, they did and thus also made the monthly price about £2 cheaper. So worth asking.
I only really pushed on the admin fee and got a further £2 a month off for the duration in exchange for the fees remaining.
I'd imagine if you pushed harder and/or tried the number available in that link you could chip a bit more off.
But I was prepared to deal after a stressful few weeks without Sky and attempting to commit to a streaming future. Streaming is no where ready for my needs currently, there's just too many issues around accessing/rewatching live sport. But recognise this might be my last, or certainly penultimate, Q renewal so I hope some of the issues with streaming are teethed out by then.
All the best.
Alex

That sounds like a very good deal Alex! Without TNT I’m guessing around the £90 mark for the Q and Fibre. If I can get that without TNT but 500mb then I’ll be happy0

Sky VIP for 25 years and they wouldn't budge on the "deal" they offered me.
My cancellation was due to take effect tomorrow.
Moved to the Sky Q essential TV option in the end (not the same as the sky stream essentials TV package) - £15 a month rolling contract for FTA channels and recording option. The Daily Mail

Be interesting to see if any better deals now you’ve left0

My contract is due to end soon, I currently just have the box for recording etc for £5 a month. Has anyone taken out this option recently and what was the best price you could get? ThanksJan Grocery challenge
