It’s so strange. They haven’t even offered a ridiculous sky stream deal to get me onto stream. Literally basically waving me to Virgin.
For anyone else, I was on
    £102 per month
    Sky Signature + Ult TV £20 + £8
sky sports complete and ss+  £25
    Sky cinema £13
    sky sports HD £2
    HD £8
    Sky go extra £0
    UHD £2
netflix with no ads, discovery + etc all in that

Broad band ultra fast 500mb £24

Then I have x2 10gb sim only which was £24/month so a total of £126/month.

18 months ago I haggled for TV, BB and Mobile with one person on the phone. Now they’re passing me around to the mobile team, then the BB team (who say they can’t do anything now it’s switching)

    Never known anything like it

Anyone had any joy lately? Hah

My Sky deal ends soon and I do wonder if my time with them is now up.

    Currently have…

    Signature £12.50
    Ultimate TV add on £8
    Sky Cinema £9
    Sky HD £5
    Ultra HD £0
    TOTAL: £34.50

When my contract ends and the offers drop off I’ll be paying…

    Signature £40.50
    Ultimate TV add on £9
    Sky Cinema £19
    Sky HD £9
    Ultra HD £4
    TOTAL: £81.50

    EIGHTY ONE POUND FIFTY!!! 🤯🤯🤯

I will call, put in my notice and see what happens. Last time I only got that deal after I had been cut off.

I’ll let you all know how I get on.

Looking at this page - https://www.catribunal.org.uk/cases/15673322-sky-uk-limited - it looks like OfCom and Sky have been fighting over this issue as recently as December 2024.
I saw an article on ISP Review about Sky continuing to appeal OfCom's ruling:
    https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2025/03/confusion-surrounds-sky-uks-position-on-end-of-contract-tv-notifications.html

The article has a link to a legal case tracker: https://casetracker.justice.gov.uk/getDetail.do;jsessionid=3FA617E895FB88DE3121AD243DA20FAB?case_id=CA-2024-002837

That page shows a hearing date of 29-Jul-2025, so I guess Sky's position re whether their satellite TV service counts as an 'ECS' and hence whether it has to follow OfCom's rules, won't change until after that, if at all.

Anyone having issues with actually cancelling their Sky tv package. They make it so hard they make you want to leave even more.

I called them last Wednesday to cancel my Sky tv (took 3 separate calls to get the right person as the staff just don't seem to comprehend you really do want to cancel). They recorded the request but said they couldn't process it for 48 hours I was told due to 'system issues'. Five days on I have had no email confirmation or up date on my online account of the cancellation/reduced bill from next month.

Who/what number can I call to action this - as I don't want to waste another hour being fobbed off.

Any other firm I could login to my account and cancel in seconds - as I did last month with discovery plus. A rather irritated - hopefully soon to be ex - Sky tv customer.

You can email the cancellation, cancellations will phone you back to “process” it but the email is at least proof of when you gave notice.

When I said I wasn’t interested in offers unless they were at least 50% cheaper than my forecasted new charges they didn’t try to retain at all.

    Hi all,

Recently cancelled my Sky Q and Sky Broadband, have since restarted my Sky Broadband.

Attempted to commit to streaming but frankly not been impressed. A weekend of football ruined by a stuttering NOW TV feed and generally disappointed with the sports feeds on both NOW and Discovery+ in UHD. The movement of the ball is just weird!

What's the best way to try and restart things with Sky on the Q front? I'm certainly not ready to embrace Sky Stream based on my streaming experiences.

Is there a welcome back number I can proactively reach out to?

Recognise I've probably not played my hand perfectly (or well) here but we are where we are.

    Thanks

    Alex

I've just contacted Sky to remove my HD package - as nearly all TV we watch is either Netflix of terrestrial - and Sky Sports is already in HD.
I thought this £6 per month saving would offset the £5 price increase that comes into force in April.
It took a while to process - as they wanted to offer me a new deal. The option was a bit of a joke as I can get the same with Virgin for £39 per month
Below is the "offer" - I'll be putting a cancellation in during May as my contract expires 21st June

Signature is normally £40.50, but you'll pay £28.50 (with an 24-month contract) This offer is for 24 months

Sky Sports in HD is normally £40, but you'll pay £23 (with an 24-month contract) This offer is for 24 months

Sky HD is normally £9, but you'll pay £5 This offer is for 24 months

It brings your total to £56.50 a month. Your offers will start today.

Anybody have a better phone number to call? I got ‘the text’ about calling back about deals and called. 0333 202 2178 Is what I called.

What they said makes no sense to me. They can’t review broadband deals as I’ve already signed to virgin even though it doesn’t begin for a month.
They can’t give me any deals on TV unless I withdraw my cancellation, review the deals, and either sign up or begin the notice period afresh.

0333 759 4840 was one, say you had message to call
I tried that one and they were still quoting £114/month, versus the £104 I was paying at the end of my last contract... which was already a 28% hike from where that contract started 18 months earlier (never underestimate how insidious these mid-contract rises are!).

I really am thinking that it is finally time to cut ties...

So I've heard, although I've never let that happen before because of the whining it would cause... possibly this time it could work though as we're away on holiday during the cutoff period. Can I ask a few practical questions then:

    - Are recordings (including purchased stuff) lost or preserved?
    - is getting it switched on again seamless or is it like having to set everything up again from scratch?
    - are they likely to come up with a decent offer literally the moment you are cut off, or do you end up having to wait days/weeks?
