Yes - it worked for me, but as I say, set aside a good hour or so to do it, and have your password and key info like your mother’s maiden name to hand as they’ll ask you for it.n1guy said:
So rather than phoning use the messaging system on their website?alltalknoaction said:My contract was due to end in early February 2025, but Sky emailed me last week informing me of price rises for 3 elements of my deal. Therefore, this triggered the negotiating window.
I was tipped off that the best deals are offered if you use Sky Direct, and have a message based conversation with them, rather than ringing and speaking to them.
This proved to be correct as the price I have accepted via Sky Direct was much better than the one I was offered a few days previously by ringing them.I was paying £94 per month but am now paying £93.50 per month for a slightly better package:
Signature
Sports HD
HD
1 Multiroom box
Broadband (was 150mb, now 500mb)
Landline (no cost)
which I felt was the best I could do without leaving in February and trying my luck then.On the phone, Sky had been offering a reduction from £135 (which I was never going to pay) to £125 (ditto).
A few points to bear in mind:
* It takes ages to go through Sky Direct - it took me 1 hour 20 minutes, and I’m told that 1 hour is just about normal. But it got me a far better offer.
* The contract is for 2 years, rather than the 18 months they offered in the past.
* Despite trying, I could not get out of their one-off £20 admin charge.
Good luck!Good luck!1 -
Hi, I’m thinking of leaving sky as I feel the pricing is getting ridiculous.I use Virgin for broadband which I pay £51 per month for as they offer a far superior service. I ideally want to stay with Sky as the service is so much better than Virgin for TV. I was paying £74 per month for the following packageSky SignatureUltimate TV Add onSky KidsSky Sports Complete including Sky Sports+Sky CinemaSky Sports HD£6.00Sky Sports HD Subscription Discounted:-£4.00• Offer end date: 29th June 2106Sky HDMultiscreen
I didn’t keep an eye on my account and stupidly let the contract run out and my bill went to £122 per month as I’m out of contract.I called yesterday and the first person I spoke to said the best they could do was £105 and then I politely asked to cancel my service and they put me through to the retention team. The 2nd person said the very best I would be offered is £81 but I would need to change my Netflix service to include adverts.I still think this is too much to pay so said I would think about it.The question I have is, realistically what should I be paying? Looking at this forum, I think I’m being charged well over the odds.Any advice welcome.0 -
I’ve noticed a few Sky contract end dates of 2106. That’s some commitment …0

You'd be mad not to just get the Virgin Mega Volt top package at £85 a month including your broadband, rather than paying more than that just for TV, surely? You'd get a free SIM too.Dealornodeal101 said:Hi, I’m thinking of leaving sky as I feel the pricing is getting ridiculous.I use Virgin for broadband which I pay £51 per month for as they offer a far superior service. I called back today to cancel and the offered all the above plus Netflix premium for £69, so went ahead. They also offered me broadband for £29 so now need to see how much my virgin disconnection fee will be with 9 months to run on my contract.mits999 said:

That is interesting - you have a bargining chip in that you could 'threaten' Virgin. Never had that.Dealornodeal101 said:
