Well, another "Nothing says 'we want you back' like an offer this good..." brochure arrived in the post today; it's the same £46 offer as the last 3 (I've had 13 in total). I tried calling the given number to ask Sky to stop sending them (or at least tell them they were wasting their time), but it said there'd be a 25 minute wait, so I hung up.
Write “not at this address” and put the brochure back in the post, they will soon get the message 👍
Haha - I tried another number and got through and they've turned off all marketing (it might've been doable online); might as well save some carbon!

I am sitting it out until after I get cut off on the 26th.... what is the best way to contact them after that (if they dont contact me). How do you get to the Winback or Executive teams?
Got called 2 days into my cancellation period, which I assumed was the Winback team. Not exactly a tempting offer made by them just yet.
Assuming you mean 2 days into your notice period, I'm not sure someone who is still with Sky is there to be "won back". Hence why the offer was not great - it was unlikely to be the win back team - probably their retentions team, who try to stop people from actually going through with their cancellation.

You can guarantee Sky knows what (relatively small) percentage of people actually go through with the cancellation even after giving notice.
Its very different with Sky compared to the good old days now though, even after leaving all I received were some relatively generic offers by post.

When I left 10 years ago they threw an amazing offer at me to get me back in the door, and that paid back for them over the following years I stayed there on decent but not remarkable deals.

Even if I sign into the website now and look at TV all I get are offers for Sky Glass which I honestly have no interest in whatsoever.

As a new customer you can get either Glass (just say no), Stream and Q. On a desktop or laptop at least just click on the downward arrow on the TV option.

Retention Chat has offered the following:

    Signature £20.50
    Sky Sports £17
    TNT Sports £27
    HD+UHD £5
    Netflix 4K £11.5

I think they sometimes still offer better?

  • Thanks to Martin and the team. Just out of contract and paying £91.50 a month, followed Martins advise and initially offered £71 for same package. Asked to get put through to cancellation dept and came away with 2 year contract for £59 a month with £23 for first month.
Was on Sky Q with Sky entertainment, ultimate on demand, cinema, HD, multiroom, Netflix premium. Now moved to equivalent replacement.

Thanks to team £390 a year saving 👍👍👍

I was offered the following at £74 (up from £62 currently):

    Sky Signature
    Sky HD
    Sky Ultra HD
    Netflix Ultimate
    Sky 145MB fibre

I put my cancellation notice in. I'm half tempted to dump off HD given that the Freeview channels are in HD and we don't watch much of the Sky channels itself.
Cancelling the TV portion is OK ,as it can be "switched on" again almost instantly if you get a satisfactory deal even a few days after cancellation takes effect until you have to return equipment.
HOWEVER, can be problematic to cancel the broadband as it can prevent you negotiating a better deal elsewhere once the cancellation is on the system. Remember that you won't be able to stream catch up services once disconnected.
Personally I would separate the fibre from the TV contract - get the best deal you can from Sky for the fibre only - if not good enough then look for a better deal elsewhere and let the new b/b supplier deal with the changeover.
Yeah, they did mention that, I will look for a deal elsewhere and see if they can match as I do prefer being on one provider and the internet has been very reliable.
  • Has anyone had any luck with getting a better deal on their Sky broadband lately?

I'm out of contract and being charged £48 a month for Ultrafast 1 ("ultrafast" my a*se) evening and weekend calls and a wi-fi booster.

I've contacted them via live chat today and said I want to switch to PAYG (only use the phone 4 times a month if that and have unlimited calls on my mobile so it's not needed) and also drop the wi-fi booster (no idea why I signed up for it in the first place?!) but I would like faster, more reliable internet as mine can be temperamental and only 145mbps.

The best they will offer me currently is £40 PLUS a £10 admin fee (since when was that a thing??) - I've been trying to haggle them down to £35 given it will rise twice whilst in contract but they're having none of it. Even tried the whole loyal customer spill, but they really don't seem to care!

I don't feel comfortable making phone calls and feel much more confident and in control speaking via live chat, but I'm guessing calling will be my best chance of a better deal?

I left earlier this year as they wouldn't budge on the price rise and went to Virgin. Sky currently do the 150Mbps for new customers at £29 a month so as usual they're telling you that being a loyal customer actually means you're a loyal mug.

The admin thing has ben around for donkeys years and they'll try and charge you twice, for BB and TV if possible. I've never, ever paid it as it's price gouging.

Virgin still do the 125Mbps at £26.50 with £95 credit automatically added to the account via the MSE Unbundled site. If you have an O2 sim then they'll double it for free and double your data on the phone as well. Vodafone if you're happy with them do similar if not cheaper.

BTW, I had the Sky 150Mbps service and it was stable as can be (as is VM TBF at 275Mbps), there's no reason beyond a fault somewhere you won't get full speed presuming we're talking hard wired.
  • I have sky q and is to be 'switched off' on 22nd Sept having given my 31 day notice.
Was paying £83.50 a month, but was going up to £113.50 a month.
Went on chat and was offered:
    Signature is normally £36.50, but you'll pay £24.50 (with a 24-month contract)
Sky Sports in HD is normally £39, but you'll pay £24 (with a 24-month contract)
TNT Sports is normally £30, but you'll pay £27 (with a 24-month contract).
Sky HD is normally £9, but you'll pay £5
    Sky (Q) Multiscreen is normally £15, but you'll pay £15 (with a 24-month contract)
It brings your total to £95.50 a month and saves for the 24 months. Your offers will start today. A one-off [admin fee of £0] will be added to your next bill

Told em no thanks, then told em that I went to a sky pop up at my local shopping centre and was offered:

Sky signature I was paying £22.50, he said £19.50.
Sky sports complete I was paying £15.00, he said £12.50,
TNT Sports I was paying £27.00 he said £25.
Sky HD I was paying £9 he said free for 12 months then £5 for 12 months,
Multiscreen I was paying £10, he said £5, which would be £62.00 on a 24 month contract

Was told chat can't do that deal as it is an online deal so phone them up..
I phoned Sky and was told no deals, you can cancel if you like and try phoning us in 2 weeks and see if we have any other deals...
    Cancelled I did..

Has anyone else cancelled and had any offers yet??, so far I have had nothing....

My Sky gets turned off around the same time I will call them about the 16th to see if they have any reasonable deals, if not I have decided to go down the Freesat route. it’s not just the price you pay at the start of the 2 year term you also have to take into consideration the yearly, in contract, price rises.
  • I was paying £37per month for Sky TV. Contract came to the end, they offered £72. Phoned up in July to give notice to cancel. They offered £45 per month. Politely declined. Was transferred to cancellations who offered £42 per month. Declined and continued to serve my notice.

Midway through, had a text saying they had an offer to tempt me back. Chat offered £37.50. Politely declined.

Notice was due to end today. Contacted them by phone, offered £40per month. Tried on chat, secured this deal:

    - Sky Signature is normally £36.50 pm, but you'll pay £20.50 pm (with an 24-month contract), thereafter the standard price. This offer is for 24 months.

-Ultimate TV Pack netflix standard with ads is normally for £4.50 pm. No contract.

-Sky Kids is normally £7.00, but you'll pay £3.00 pm. This offer is for 24 months, thereafter the standard price. No contract.

-Sky Cinema is normally £19.00 pm, but you'll pay £6.00 pm (with an 24-month contract), thereafter standard price. This offer is for 24 months.

    - Paramount+ is normally £6.99 but it's included with Sky Cinema at no  standard

brings the total to £34.00 per month and saves you £792.00 over the 24 months contract & the standard price thereafter.

They wanted to charge an admin fee of £20 but I said that the admin fee would put me off agreeing, they explained what it was for but I held on, they then agreed to apply £20 credit to my next bill to negate the admin fee.

Been with Sky for 6 years and renewed several times. This has been the hardest haggle I’ve had to do with them, I didn’t get any phone calls from them to tempt me back and their offers were pretty stringent with no massive discounts.
