I got my dates wrong and tried to cancel a day early so I'm phoning back tomorrow.  That said, I got an offer from the retention team which didn't sound too bad but if it's their first offer, I'm not convinced.

    Signature: £24.50 (£36.50)
    Netflix Ultimate: £11.50 (£15.50)
    HD £5 (£9)
    UHD £1 (£4)
    Sky Sports £23 (£35)
    Cinema £10 (£19)
    Multiroom £11 (£15)

    Total cost = £86 (£110.50)

We need to hear from someone who actually got switched off and see what they got offered for a comparable package to come back to see if its even cheaper.
I cancelled and let it run out and moved to another supplier. Sky emailed on the day of the change-over (!) to invite me to call them to see if they could get me back as a customer (!), and then again a week later with a deal of circa 35% off the price they had quoted me before I left. Obviously, I didn't take them up on their offer as it was too late. I can't seem to remember them trying to contact me during the notice period.
My Sky Q package (Signature, Netflix, HD and UHD) switched off beginning of April. The best I was offered during cancellation period for that was £39 via emails or letters in the post,I had been paying £21 and that included top tier Netflix. After it switched off all I've had is offers for Stream, nothing for Q (I have returned the equipment though), this is £23 for Entertainment and Netflix, I haven't looked into it though so I have no idea if it included HD and presumably this is Netflix with ads. Sky certainly used to make a better attempt to keep me when I had Sports and Cinema. They didn't seem as interested this time, but then I was fairly certain I was going through with the cancellation anyway. When my previous contract ended, towards end of 2022,I'd been paying £44 a month for Signature, Sports, Sports HD, Netflix, HD, UHD and Cinema. I cancelled Sports and Cinema and got the rest for only £18.

My Sky cancellation will be on 31st May.

    Originally was paying £54.50 for the following;

    Signature £21
    Sports £24
    Sports HD £2
    Multiscreen £7.50

Bill then went up to £67.10 in May then was going to go up to £87.50 I believe.

    Tried to get a better deal and they offered the following;

    Signature £20.50
    Sports with HD £20
    Multiscreen £9.50

with a further discount applied of £2 per month

Total £48 + £20 admin fee that they will not waive.

Do I ride out the cancellation in the hope of a better deal or will I not get much more?

I’m currently paying £110.50 for my Sky package (up from £103 in April) and my contract will expire 14 June 2024.  Really not sure how it crept up so high but obviously, it’s a huge monthly cost. I also pay approx £43 for TNT Sports (already out of contract) and Disney+ just renewed at £109.90 for another year  (even though nobody in the house watches it).

I’m on a mission to get the monthly cost down.

    The individual breakdown is:

    Sky Signature: £31.50

    Netflix Ultimate: £8.00

    Sky Sports HD: £30.00

    Sky Cinema: £13.00

    Sky HD: £9.00

    Multiscreen: £15.00

    Ultra HD: £4.00

I’ve looked at my previous bills when I renewed my contract, It was £95 per month which looking back now, seems a bit high.

My TNT Sports package is £42.99:

    TNT Sports: £30.99

    HD: £6.00

    Multiroom: £6.00

Looking through the Sky offers, it appears that TNT Sports / Discovery+ is much cheaper through them (£27) as they don’t charge extra for HD or multiroom.

So, I can’t do much until 14 May but understand that unless they give me a decent offer, I need to give them 31 days notice in order to get better offers from the retention team.  Admittedly, I don’t want to leave as the house is all wired up with the Sky Q and mini boxes but I’m currently paying over £150 per month which is too much.  What do you reckon is a good monthly price target with all of the above included and are there any other tips you can advise in negotiating the price down?  I’m also a VIP Platinum customer of over 10 years if that makes any difference.

    Many thanks

I would suggest give 31 day notice to cancel, once the tv is fully switch off contact them they will do everything for approx £70 a month  to £80 a month

I got my dates wrong and tried to cancel a day early so I'm phoning back tomorrow.  That said, I got an offer from the retention team which didn't sound too bad but if it's their first offer, I'm not convinced.

    Signature: £24.50 (£36.50)
    Netflix Ultimate: £11.50 (£15.50)
    HD £5 (£9)
    UHD £1 (£4)
    Sky Sports £23 (£35)
    Cinema £10 (£19)
    Multiroom £11 (£15)

    Total cost = £86 (£110.50)

+ optional TNT £27 (£42.99).  This has already been cancelled from BT so will definitely save on this by buying through Sky as I'm not charged extra for HD or multiroom twice.

Most of it is ok and pretty much in line with other deals but the Sky Sports is the deal breaker.  I've seen it as low as £8 but it was suggested to perhaps wait until August as good offers are usually available for the start of the new season.  The guy was pretty helpful and said that deals change on Fridays and I may get it cheaper by a different team but nothing is guaranteed.

I'll see what they say tomorrow and hold out for my price target of £70 / £75. I think that sounds achievable but what do you guys think? If that means giving notice and going through the whole ball ache of doing without for a few weeks, I'll do that .... no matter how much the kids and missus complain :)
I got busy with work but found the time to follow up on my call last week.  My best offer last week was £86 and now it's £88.  I've now cancelled so let's see how this plays out?  The prices just seem so random from customer to customer....
Well, that ws easier than I expected.  I put in my cancellation last week and then received a call yesterday. I was asked what my price target was and I replied approx £70 after their latest offer of £88. After a quick discussion, he got it down to £74 so I removed the UHD for £3 (never used it) which made the final price £71.  He also tried to charge me a £20 admin charge which I said I wouldn't pay as I didn't see why? He agreed to waive that charge.

Then while he was sorting out the contracts, we got talking about football.  Found out we both supported Manchester United so I asked about an additional discount for a fellow red? He agreed another £2 discount :).  Don't ask, don't get.

So my final package ended up as:

    Signature: £18.50 (£36.50)
    Netflix Ultimate: £11.50 (£15.50)
    HD: £5 (£9)
    Sky Sports: £14 (£35)
    Cinema: £8 (£19)
    Multiroom: £12 (£15)

    Total cost = £69.00 (£120.00+)

Maybe I could have got it a touch cheaper but I'm happy with that deal - as is my Netflix addicted family.  I'll keep an eye out for TNT add-ons (currently £27) once the season starts as I understand that pre-season, they sometimes offer sports packages for good deals.

Hope this helps someone in their deal.

Indeed, you could have saved at least another £3 per month based on what I was quoted - $1 on Sky HD and £2 on Multiroom. However, your quote above is better overall then what I was offered as you have got a better price on Signature and Sky Sports.

Don't see how they can charge you £20 admin fee if you agree to their revised deal within your cancellation period.

My cancellation was on 24 May and am now waiting for a deal that is agreeable to me or else will have to say goodbye to SKY.

Well, they tried to but even after hearing explanations, I said that doesn’t make any sense. So he got rid of it with very little persuasion. 👍

I’ve kept a record of what the individual prices are available for and you are right, multiroom and HD can be had for less.

They had also been offered to me for cheaper but a previous poster advised not to look so much at individual prices but at the overall cost - which is what I did. Sports and Cinema was much more discounted before so was happy with the overall cost. 👍

  • Good afternoon everyone. I have been a sky customer for 16 years. Like most at the end of my contract I call up and try to renegotiate a better cheaper deal. I was into my last 30 days last month and sky wasn't budging on offer. I have a Sky Q box, multi room (extra mini box), sky signature,  full sports and cinema package. This year is had increased to £64. I wasn't happy with that. The 3 customer advisors I spoke with couldn't better it so I ran down the 31 days notice. Today was my first day out of contract so I called them. And shock horror,  because I was out of contract.. I got everything I wanted,  plus new sky Q box and mini box, so signature, HD, Sports and cinema - £43 per month! They even waived the £10 administration fee. Thank you very much sky

Did you have an old HD box? I'm not sure they should have given you a new customer deal as you're supposed to be away for 18 months now I think. Sounds like they either messed up or were just happy to get a new sale bonus.

I had an older sky q box 1tb and mini box .. contract ended yesterday after seeing through the 31 days. I was offered different 'deals' by 3 different sales people over the 31 days. None i was happy with as they were all increases on what I has paid previously. I rang the number on the sms message- 03337 594451, Guy called Hamza answered , leeds area- told him this was last and final chance for Sky to keep me as a customer so I was only interested in hearing Sky's very best offer- came back with £43 per month and new upgraded Sky Q (2tb) and mini box- he said he could now offer better deals than the previous 3 ones as services has been cancelled and I was past the 31 days- I happily accepted. I'd recommend calling Sky's bluff and seeing through the 31 days cancellation as 'deals' offered during that period wasn't good at all.. Good luck !

@Wigglyworm2k24 You say that they upgraded you with Sky Q (2tb) and mini box - how come the screenshot of the charges from 3 August 2024 does not reflect a charge for multi-room?
