I'm nervous about cancelling .... just in case they call my bluff.  However, I absolutely hate being ripped off (and Sky is a big rip-off especially as you have to have Sky Signature), then I'll go elsewhere.

In other news, I also saw that the offers they gave me weren't the best as I checked my offers in the App and a few bits were cheaper.  Sky Sports Flash sale for £20 (instead of £23) and a few smaller discounts.  I'll try again tomorrow and see what they say...

I don't get your thinking there TBH, if you hate being ripped off and you know they're a rip off then why still subscribe. I'd dump them in heartbeat if it wasn't for my housebound wife. Happily the BB is my area regarding decisions so VM are coming in a weeks time.

I’m currently paying £110.50 for my Sky package (up from £103 in April) and my contract will expire 14 June 2024.  Really not sure how it crept up so high but obviously, it’s a huge monthly cost. I also pay approx £43 for TNT Sports (already out of contract) and Disney+ just renewed at £109.90 for another year  (even though nobody in the house watches it).

I’m on a mission to get the monthly cost down.

    The individual breakdown is:

    Sky Signature: £31.50

    Netflix Ultimate: £8.00

    Sky Sports HD: £30.00

    Sky Cinema: £13.00

    Sky HD: £9.00

    Multiscreen: £15.00

    Ultra HD: £4.00

I’ve looked at my previous bills when I renewed my contract, It was £95 per month which looking back now, seems a bit high.

My TNT Sports package is £42.99:

    TNT Sports: £30.99

    HD: £6.00

    Multiroom: £6.00

Looking through the Sky offers, it appears that TNT Sports / Discovery+ is much cheaper through them (£27) as they don’t charge extra for HD or multiroom.

So, I can’t do much until 14 May but understand that unless they give me a decent offer, I need to give them 31 days notice in order to get better offers from the retention team.  Admittedly, I don’t want to leave as the house is all wired up with the Sky Q and mini boxes but I’m currently paying over £150 per month which is too much.  What do you reckon is a good monthly price target with all of the above included and are there any other tips you can advise in negotiating the price down?  I’m also a VIP Platinum customer of over 10 years if that makes any difference.

    Many thanks

I would suggest give 31 day notice to cancel, once the tv is fully switch off contact them they will do everything for approx £70 a month  to £80 a month

I got my dates wrong and tried to cancel a day early so I'm phoning back tomorrow.  That said, I got an offer from the retention team which didn't sound too bad but if it's their first offer, I'm not convinced.

    Signature: £24.50 (£36.50)
    Netflix Ultimate: £11.50 (£15.50)
    HD £5 (£9)
    UHD £1 (£4)
    Sky Sports £23 (£35)
    Cinema £10 (£19)
    Multiroom £11 (£15)

    Total cost = £86 (£110.50)

+ optional TNT £27 (£42.99).  This has already been cancelled from BT so will definitely save on this by buying through Sky as I'm not charged extra for HD or multiroom twice.

Most of it is ok and pretty much in line with other deals but the Sky Sports is the deal breaker.  I've seen it as low as £8 but it was suggested to perhaps wait until August as good offers are usually available for the start of the new season.  The guy was pretty helpful and said that deals change on Fridays and I may get it cheaper by a different team but nothing is guaranteed.

I'll see what they say tomorrow and hold out for my price target of £70 / £75. I think that sounds achievable but what do you guys think? If that means giving notice and going through the whole ball ache of doing without for a few weeks, I'll do that .... no matter how much the kids and missus complain :)
BTW, there's no such thing as you phoning up to cancel being too early, either by a day or a month (or more). You can set a cancellation date for the end of minimum term pretty much at any time. It's a minimum 31 days notice although they'll try and convince you otherwise as they're trying to pass your cancellation on to someone else as it affects their personal stats and therefore their bonuses.

Ok, on the back of the email I had, and a bit more haggling I’ve agreed the following……
    signature
    sports
    cinema
    hd
    uhd
    Netflix with ads
£60 a month all discounted for 18 months.
got them to waive the £10 admin fee.

was paying £52 a month for that, but with ad free Netflix.  Obviously not as good a deal, but it seems like there aren’t the great deals around that there used to be.

Hi All, Got a price from online chat last week but still wasnt happy.  Phoned to cancel yesterday and was offered an even higher price.  I told him to cancel my package but because I have broadband too he said I shouldnt cancel until I have a new provider in place as broadband will cancel in 2 weeks so I'll be left without.  I feel he just didn't want me to cancel with him.  I don;t want to leave but honestly not giving good prices anymore are they :( been a customer for over 20years!

He's probably right. You should give notice to cancel Sky TV, but not BB, and just go to your new provider transfer BB to them,  so you have an (almost) seamless transition to the new provider.

If, for example, you're switching your BB from FTTC to FTTP (fibre to cabinet to fibre to premises), then a new cable run might be required to your house, and that could take more than 2 weeks, so if you've cancelled Sky BB, it will be turned off before your new provider service is activated.

But if you know your new BB provider can get you up and running in less than 2 weeks (eg, staying on FTTC) then you might me ok.

I'm currently 8 days into my Sky TV cancellation notice, and have instigated the BB switch to another provider. I've had no contact from Sky since I gave notice to cancel TV.

I went from £30 for Signature, Cinema and Netflix, in HD/UHD, to £61 (which was still £15 off) thanks to my deal ending plus inflation.

I cancelled today. The best offer I got was £41 excluding Cinema/UHD (which I'm not bothered about) if I signed up for 18 months @ £21 for Signature (I would be free to cancel Netflix and HD).

I'd rather go back to normal TV and just pay Netflix directly. That's what I watch the most. Terrestrial is going live on broadband shortly with Freely anyway and their own streaming apps are fine for catch up.

He's definitely right and did @jojoBOB a big favour there.

I'm switching to VM on Monday from Sky and had a missed call from Sky's 0800 number 2 days back, just before the end of the 14 day cooling off period for Virgin. They've never called back although given the last 4 agents I spoke to (3 on the one webchat, 1 on WhatsApp) wouldn't go below £32 for FTTP 150Mbps then I suspect they weren't going to match the £21 VM offer for 128Mbps.

I'm 10 days away from disconnection and sky have not been in touch at all to offer me anything to stay.  I had Signature, Netflix and Movies and was paying £37 a month - best deal was £45 a month.  Looks like I will be leaving them after 27 years (although only 12 at this property.  VM isnt an option where I am, but Now TV is and they are offering me Entertainment and Cinema for £4.99 each a month,  I can also get Netflix for £4.99 too, so £14.97 for what I was paying £37 for and sky wants £45 seems a very good deal.
I got a text with 4 days to go asking me to call for their latest deal.  I did and got through to someone without having to go through all those automated processes.  A quick check of my details and he offered me Signature and Movies for £28.50, but was unwilling to budge on Netflix, although he was willing to add sports for another £15 a month, which I declined.  Ive re-contracted for another 18 months at a price less than I was paying 18 months ago.

    I agreed a deal at £53 + £20 admin fee for:

    Signature, Sports, Cinema, HD.

Then decided to cancel, let Sky disconnect for a few days, missed the convenience of having everything through one box. Spoke to them and just received the same offer for £43 with £10 admin fee, they wouldn't budge on the admin fee, but I asked for a £10 credit and they agreed.
