Hoping someone can help answer the below! Currently helping my parents with a new deal but they’re struggling to get a good price.

Their deal at the moment is approx £110pm for:
    Superfast bb
    Anytime talk
    Full Q package
    Sky sports (not TNT)
    HD (not UHD)
    Cinema
    2 x multiroom boxes

    1. The best offer earlier in the month was £123pm for no change in package - seems crazy high to me or is this the going rate for Sky these days?!

    2. They live in an area without Virgin Media as a comparison - does this effect what prices Sky offer or should it not make a difference?

    3. They’ve cancelled their deal a couple of weeks ago but no retention call back yet. Is this still a thing? What’s the best approach to getting through to the team offering best discounts?

Any help on the above would be really appreciated!
When I cancelled, I got nothing except the email more or less on the day that said "sorry to see you go". There was a number in it to call if I changed my mind or wanted to see other options. After a couple of weeks I called it one evening and got literally straight through to the retentions guy - no menus, no voice prompts etc - and we did a deal in 10 minutes.

FYI, the next day I called it again to ask a question about my account and it had reverted to the standard, infuriating, hopeless voice driven menu Sky like to use. I had to go through the normal nonsense to get to a person. I guess it recognised my account from my phone number and saw that I was no longer on notice so went back to standard. Irritating as it is, I have to admire the technical capabilities of their phone system.

Sorry, Just seen this, Mits999. My email said:

Saying that, it's not too late to change your mind. If you'd like to keep Sky or chat about our other options, give us a call on 03337594451.

Since all this, I keep getting messages as if I'm still leaving, even though two different advisors have told me all is in order and the renewal should go through in 10 working days, four of which have already gone. Today, I even got the post-free box to return my Sky Q box. I hope they won't stop my services, but we shall see. My notice period was set to expire on 6th April, so I'll have to wait and see what happens.

FWIW, there's another number with the box to call if you change your mind - 0333 759 4761, although I haven't called that one.

  • My Sky deal is up in a few months, and I want to bin TV but keep the internet.

Does anyone have any experience of haggling for one service?

Am I best to bin the whole lot, and when they offer me retention, can I accept the internet offer only? Or do their retention offers tend to be packaged?

I'm wondering the best way to go about it.

    Currently on:

    TV

    • Sky Signature £21
    • Ultimate TV add-on £6
    • Sky Sports £15
    • Sky Sports HD £2
    • Sky HD £3
    • Sky Go Extra £0
    • Ultra HD £2

    Broadband

    • Broadband Ultrafast £45
    • Sky WiFi £0
    • Sky Broadband Boost £2

    Talk

    • Sky Talk Internet Calls £0
    • Sky Pay As You Talk £0

I'd be interested in going to Gigafast over Ultrafast, but no interest in keeping anything TV. What do you think is the best way to approach this?

I think they keep the two contracts separately. You can probably call and cancel the TV and be clear you want to retain Broadband, then call your new preferred BB supplier and arrange a switch. Provided you're out of contract with Sky, that should work.

I'm sure the Sky advisor will tell you what's possible.

  • I cancelled my Sky contract and have a week or so to go.
I currently only have Sky Signature for £36 (used to have Sky broadband but moved + Sky couldn't support my new location).

Was hoping to add Sky Sports (just because - annoyingly - all the tennis has moved there + apparently you can't get the Sky Tennis channel on its own).

Received the "sorry to see you go" message + contacted Sky on the chat and was offered:
    Signature = £23.50
    Sky Sports = £20.00
Total £43.50 PLUS £10 admin fee.

I think I might have to let the contract run to the end and contact them again.
Anyone know if it's better to speak to a person?

Real chore this time to get a deal after cancelling, after numerous calls and three chats best I could get this time (decided to accept after backwards and forwards) was:

Sky Signature £21.50 for 18 months
Sky HD £0 for 18 months (laughable they still try to charge for this in 2024, but make my feelings clear from the off that I will not accept any deal and continue to go through with cancellation unless this is included)
    10 admin fee credited immediately

Offered Cinema for £7 but my cut off point overall was £26 (last deal was £24 for sig, cig, hd) and they would not budge on either that or Signature so out the window that went, their loss of £4.50 as far as I am concerned as I hardly watched it anyway.

Also have separately Ultrafast Plus Fibre at £34 (£30 at beginning of contract) which runs out in July, guess that will be fun to try and get a deal as tried to extend that to match up with tv contract but was told they couldn’t get anywhere near that price at moment and to try again around time of renewal. Again, laughable considering they have offer for new customers at same price and other providers are even cheaper.

Explained to final agent are Sky aware customers are in a cost of living crisis and can no longer afford or willing to pay these extortionate prices any more. They really need a reality check as instead of been more free willing to give deals they are battening down the hatches and fighting tooth and nail not to give out there best deals.

  • This was my previous contract. Over the years ive been using sky less and less, so have cancelled my contract.

Is this still seen as a good deal if they offered the same again going forward? Im in a sort of take it or leave it mood, due to reliance on Netflix and Disney over sky.  In reality I watch some Freeview channels, Football and F1.

    Signature
    Sports
    HD
    UHD

That HD charge of £5, definitely not, push for free.
As you have Sky Sports, maybe you could negotiate Signature down below the £21.50 I got after negotiation. Seen people get it lower, lowest been £15 recently but that is a rarity and will then be charged around £4 for HD (big no no for me). Sky Sports, not that clued up on that side, maybe someone else can chime in on that.
