Hi from a newbie. Contacted Sky as we have been out of contract for months now and are paying £140.50 for broadband and tv including cinema and sports. I asked about the best prices for our package - initial offer was £125.50 then £111.50 from cancellations when I was put through (£73.50 without cinema and sports). They absolutely would not budge even though same package for new customers is £69 (on Stream - we have Q and I did tell them I was absolutely not interested in Glass.) So I cancelled and he said fine and processed it which I was not expecting! My other half now very concerned that our broadband is disappearing in 14 days! Are we likely to have any contact from them with better deals? Thank you!
As metered out said, move your broadband to cheaper supplier, they all use open reach network..  use uswitch and cashback sites like Quidco or topcashback to sign up.  On the Tv side wait for Sky to contact you with offers, via text or email.  £141pm is astronomical

Prices on sites like uswitch and other comparison sites are always higher if you use them as they usually have affiliate fees priced in. I normally use a few comparison sites to check prices for a particular product I'm interested in and then compare that with the service provider and go with the cheapest a the service is almost always the same.

    Hi everyone,

I came on here because my Sky package was out of contract but I was paying £30 a month so left it at that for a year. They then said that despite being out of package, they had applied an additional discount which expired after 12 months making my package £50 a month. Unhappy they didn't actually inform me before increasing my price but that's another story

I called them to haggle and they could only give me £49 so I cancelled. This was last week

I received a telephone call today and they initially offered me a total of £38 a month. I said that I have seen it being offered cheaper and she said she might be able to get it down further (she openly admitted that the deal she'd given me of £38 a month wasn't the cheapest) but she wouldn't be able to offer any further discount without reinstating my package first. I didn't necessarily want to leave Sky so I agreed.

She reinstated the package and managed to get the price down even further as per the following with an 18 Month contract:

    Sky Signature: £14.50 (initially 21)
    HD: £6 (initially £5)
    Multiscreen: 10 (initially £12)

She also did say there was an admin fee of £10 but she applied a credit of £15 to the account to waive this which brings my total price down to £29.50ish a month

Hope this helps someone. She was really friendly and personable.

Would you be happy to let me know when you initially phoned them to cancel? Just so I can gauge when I might hear from them. Nothing from them in the last 48 hours! Thank you.

The 5.30pm Premier League game today appears to be on TNT Sports... if that is going to be a regular occurrence then it's another negotiating point.

    Just been offered

    £21 for Sky Signature
    £4 for SKY HD
    £14 for Sky Multiroom
    £2 for UHD

    is this any good?

i am removing sky sports and Netflix as not making much use for the money otherwise bill would be £80+

Always hard to judge what is a good deal and what isn't and depends on whether you are prepared to cancel, walk away and haggle when right.
I cancelled as was not happy with any deal offered. Only on second contact during my notice period was I offered a deal to stay.
My offer was for what you currently mention above but also with Complete Sports in HD and also Netflix Premium.
Complete cost is £53.50 per month.

So my thoughts are you can probably get a better offer without Netflix Premium or Sports, or perhaps get an offer for similar money with Sports or Netflix added??

Well, my Sky Q was switched off on Jan 2nd.
The box is packaged up ready to return, but my local PO was closed today.
So, my Sky Signature + HD was £33/month and was due to go up to £38. When I gave notice they did offer me £29, but I'd already had a good think about my options and so declined.
Sky got too greedy with the price hike which got me questioning whether I need it at all, so the comparison is not £29 against £33 (or the £38 it was going up to), but against zero.

    So, life without Sky...
    ...I think I'll survive,
I can get the Freeview programmes and online streaming/catchup services for nothing.
My TV's planner is better than Sky's, because it goes backwards in time too and automatically launches the relevant streaming/catchup channel for past programmes; sadly though its buffering isn't quite up to the job, so I do tend to go to the Firestick or Apple TV boxes I have plugged in.
In looking at my TV I found it has a satellite input at the back, but unfortunately I've got the wideband LNBs on my dish, so they're not compatible.
I have to say, though, I've not particularly missed the Sky service; there have been a couple of essentials over the past few years, but most of the content is throwaway or available elsewhere.
I would like to record, but maybe on-demand trumps that; the compatible Freesat box is a bit pricey and there have been comments about its reliability, so I'm going to hold off on that.

  • Cancelled last week, renewal offer via email

Sky Signature, Cinema & Sports £42
    Ultimate TV £4
    Multiscreen £10
    Ultra HD+HD £7
    TNT £28
    Kids £2

Went on live chat, didn't have much joy so gave them a call instead

    Offered

    Signature £18
    Kids £2
    Multiscreen £10
Sports & Cinema £25 (Asked if separated Sports £19 Cinema £8)
    Netflx with ads £4.50
    £59.50

Discussed broadband £39 offered at £27.50

    Declined

Mentioned there was an admin fee of £20 but since she didn't mention it earlier added credit to cover the cost, thanked her for her time and just asked if there were any deals on additional boxes for multiroom.

Popped one on there for me free of charge so couldn't argue
  • We renegotiated last week, and I was shocked to find 3 admin fees on my bill when I checked it today! They said NOTHING about these admin fees. Surely they aren't allowed to do that? I wouldn't have renewed if they'd told me about those! Not happy... what can I do?xx
