Out of contract next month. Phoned up and was offered the below:

    Sky Signature (Sky Q)
    Sky HD
    Sky Broadband superfast (50MBS)

    £74 a month.

    I am currently paying £57

Will be cancelling as that is not a good deal when new customers can get Broadband and TV for £39 a month
Just phoned retentions and have been offered the below:

    Sky Signature - £18
    Sky HD - £4
Ultra HD - Free for 3 months (£4 a month after cancel anytime)
    Sky Broadband superfast - £25

    Total £47 a month

Bit different to the £74 offered yesterday

Phoned this afternoon to give them my 31 days notice, spoke to someone in retentions department, the best he could do for me on renewing my package as quoted above was £90 and an admin fee of £20 even though ive been a customer for 20 years and a diamond VIP, told him was too expensive so am in the cancellation period now, what's the latest ways of them offering me a new deal? email, letter through post, text message? Should I phone back retentions in 3 weeks time? Cheers

I pretty much have to use Virgin for broadband as I don't have FTTP where I live, so its 1gig on Virgin v 16meg for everyone else

How much do Virgin charge you out of interest?
I just came off Virgin and they wanted to charge £58 renewal for 1gig at the end just before my contract expired. When I spoke to the retentions person before this he was prepared to go down to £45 but I was getting a cheaper deal from Vodafone and he wouldn't match it.

    Yes I think they offered £39 for 500meg or £45 for 1gig

I assume that's with a phone line. Bizarrely Virgin charge extra for a phone line whereas FTTP providers that I have come across now bundle a phone line free - it's just socket on the router (same as Virgin).

Actually just for BB, I actually have no need for a landline so didn't even ask for any pricing for that. The only people who ever called our landline were scammers, happier not to have it!

I recently renegotiated my virgin media and I pay £15pm for 125mbps plus phone and free weekend. This speed is perfectly fine for me. People keep chasing higher speeds presumably for gaming issues but normally tv watching (Netflix and catch up) is fine and speed is very good for everything. I would say I had to leave but the day after I left this popped up on my account page. They can do it if they want to do it.
  • Hi from a newbie. Contacted Sky as we have been out of contract for months now and are paying £140.50 for broadband and tv including cinema and sports. I asked about the best prices for our package - initial offer was £125.50 then £111.50 from cancellations when I was put through (£73.50 without cinema and sports). They absolutely would not budge even though same package for new customers is £69 (on Stream - we have Q and I did tell them I was absolutely not interested in Glass.) So I cancelled and he said fine and processed it which I was not expecting! My other half now very concerned that our broadband is disappearing in 14 days! Are we likely to have any contact from them with better deals? Thank you!

If you're out of contract with broadband, start the process of moving that elsewhere. Use a site like topcashback to get some cash too. Otherwise, you'll end up pressurising yourselves to keep the whole package so you don't lose your broadband.
