Just got 50% off my TV package £34 instead of £68 (incl cinema & sports) + HD + Multiroom £12 each = £58, same as last year. (Broadband/phone with Plusnet, so only TV)

One phone call, no need to cancel (but I did give notice before being transferred to retentions).

Easier than last year, could probably have done better if I'd cancelled, but I'm happy.:j

    Hi,

I just cancelled my sky Box Sets contract, due to pay £38 from next month, First their retentions offered 30% off, then 40% at which point I cancelled. Then just saw the 50% off on the website.

Question is do you think they may offer this 60% (that i've heard others offered) if I wait longer? Also, do you think it is worth asking for discount on Sky Q 2TB box install?

    thanks!
You'll get the 60% no doubt but not on Sky Q, I think the most I've seen on that is 25% (?) and for the 2TB box they'll charge you a lump sum too most probably.

60% discount has now appeared in the services section of the box (there was also an advert on TV with the 60% if I stayed - slightly strange seeing targeted ads on TV). If I take the 60%, are we sure I can't then sign up to Sky Q multiroom in a few weeks for £12 extra per month? Sky said I could with my previous 60% discount but they also said I couldn't have a new 60% discount with Sky Q.

I rang sky yesterday and gave notice to quit our tv package. We pay £32 per month. We have phone and broadband with Virgin Media and intended to bring it all under one roof and hopefully get it cheaper.

Sky tried a few tactics to stop me cancelling. First they wanted us to move our broadband and phone from Virgin but our daughter anfd son in law who live a few streets away from us have just moved from Sky to Virgin due to constant dropouts of internet (sometimes days at a time) which we have never had with Virgin. I therefore told the Sky rep no way were we moving to them as I also remember in the past Sky have this habit of adding on an admin fee of £10 and their admin is dreadful.

He then offered me a retention deal of adding sky box sets and giving us 40% discount bringing the monthly cost down to £20.80 per month for 18 months. As we used the box sets over Christmas (when it was free) I accepted that. If we hadn't added the box sets it would have been £20.40 per month.

We will be cancelling in 18 months though unless they do us another deal.

Sky have only just started adding the £10 'admin fee', as far as I'm aware they've never used it previously. If by admin you mean customer service then I'd disagree as I've always found them helpful and efficient.

The dropout issue is obviously a local problem, maybe just at your daughters place.

I did just that, cancelled, got the 60% off and also negotiated £50 credit to stay, then a few days later ordered Sky Q. The 60% off transferred to the new Q contract and I also made sure it was only for 12 months so I could renegotiate when the contract ends.

How much did you have to pay to get the Q box?

Thanks. I've been offered the following:
    1. Sky Q - 25% discount on TV package plus £12 for multiroom and £50 credit. This includes free 2TB Sky Q and 1 mini box. Additional mini boxes would be the standard £99 charge.
    2. Keep existing Sky package with 60% discount and £50 credit. I can then upgrade to Sky Q and keep the discount (plus £12 for multiroom). Charge for 2TB box and 1 mini box would be £100, then £99 for additional mini box (so £199 charge for the 'free' equipment).

The second deal works out cheaper over the 12 months. Shame there doesn't seem to be a discount on the setup of the equipment - unless you managed to get something?

The Virgin Media deal I have been offered (as a new customer with special discount) is better as it's practically the same price but includes 200MB broadband and phone but I really don't like the Virgin interface or the hassle of installation.
