. Do I need to get to retentions by threating to quit?

No You have to cancel first, then wait until the offer appears on the sky services menu. Then wait some more until a day or so before your end-date, get into online chat and negotiate an even better deal

Nowhere on this thread does it suggest that merely "threatening" to quit will net you a discount. Deals are offered to those who actually give notice of cancellation and even better additional offers come to those who actually cancel and mean it.

Well I just crashed and burned. I guess I never played the game of "I'm going to quit". I'm 'only' on the £32 variety package.

Any tactics for how to get some kind of discount? Their only option was to drop the kids TV channels. Do I need to get to retentions by threating to quit?
When you play the game of 'I'm going to quit' you win or you die. There is no middle ground.

You've only just started with your first call, now you need to put a cancellation request in (as long as you're out of minimum term or within the last month) and wait for the 60% discount offer. Only TV mind as you can end up with cessation fees for the BB/telephone line as well as lose your number.

Rang sky on Monday as my contract was up this month and next payment will be over 100 pound a month to be offered a deal thats more then i pay now, was only offered 10% ! so i politely declined and went through and cancelled , today a 50% off tv package has appeared - was wondering how long this will last for should i hold my nerve (even for another week) and hope for more - or take it incase they withdraw the offer ?

Wait until they call you and see what they offer.

I just secured all channels and a multiscreen for 41.60 a month with no contrac and a 41.60 account credit.

I can't join in the fun until August as my contract for Sky Q ends in September. I also have my telephone, 24/7 free calls and unlimited fibre broadband with Sky. Do I have to negotiate seperatately for the phone and broadband and do I cancell that to get a better deal ? Thanks

You see, this is my first time negotiating with Sky. I'm no stranger to haggling over the phone (once blagged a years free internet with O2) but didn't realise you needed to actually trigger a cancellation.

    I'm well out of contract

I am assuming you are answering my query.

I am happy to play the long game by cancelling everything, but do not want to lose line and number. By cancelling with a months notice I again assume, dangerous I know, that I will not lose them until the end of my notice period giving me wriggle room to negotiate? Thanks.

I cancelled by phone on Monday and only offered 20% off TV and no discount on phone and broadband which I turned down. Offer was on TV account today (could have been earlier but only checked today) of 60% off Tv only so am going to try online chat to discount phone and broadband.

Currently negotiating on live chat, so far 60% off tv and half price phone evenings and weekends and broadband = £66.09 per month plus £30 credit. Pushing for a little more but the well could be dry.

Update, took off the £6 hd sports pack, and got increased £50 credit.

So all sky channels, movies, sports, box sets, hd except for sports, and multiroom, and phone anytime day & weekends, and unlimited broadband for £60.09 month plus £50 credit. Very nice!
