My SKY and BB are up for renewal. I had a great deal before £48/month for SKY + entertainment, HD and 59Mbps BB. This is now costing me £59/month.
They are offering this plus will throw in box sets for £50/month. They said they can do this on a 2GB Sky Q box as well.
Any other options, does this seem ok ? They seem to be willing to negociate on TV but nothing on BB. I actually get 66Mbps and the service has been very good. The other annoying thing is I have to sign up for 18 months but that seems the norm now :(
Oh and I bet they will put it up over that 18 month period.
That is not a good deal for a "2GB Sky Q box" as you will not be able to record much on it.

Maybe it's a new type of Sky box?

I would be a fair deal if it included the 2TB Sky Q box.

What determines whether a company is allowed to increase it's tariff as it see's fit ?
Three mobile phones only increase annually by inflation - yet Sky appears to increase it's prices, twice a year by more than inflation
Yes - we are entitled to leave Sky - if they do try to increase prices at more than RPI - But they know that they have us over a barrel, because we have very few options (if we want the whole lot).....
Are Sky counted as a LUXURY or NECESSITY ?

Cancelled Saturday. Still nothing in My Offers on the My Deal Link but was sent a message offering the opportunity to chat more about continuing service. Decided to have a look. Was offered:
    Sky Signature for £19
    HD for £2
    Sports for £12
    Cinema £11
    Multiscreen £10
Total: £54 + £10 admin fee on an 18-month contract.
Turned it down because I don't want to enter into an 18-month contract and I still think it's too much, but thought I'd post as an example of the offers they're giving.
I'm in the same boat - contract expires in a couple of months - I have been a Sky customer since 2001 and am currently paying £40.87 for HD, Cinema, Sport, Variety - this is due to increase to £72 in July - which I cannot justify
So I am going to put an offer to Sky - leave my tariff at £40 or lose a long term customer and see what I am offered ...
And worst of all - admin fee is now stated as £20 !

That can't be a serious question, surely?
How could subscription television (from any company) be classed in any way as 'essential'?

Can I clarify how people are speaking with them, is it online chat or facebook messenger?

I cancelled via Facebook Messenger. Took a long time to get through to speak to someone. Probably 4 hours waiting.
I was sent a text a few days later, inviting me to chat with them about possible deals. I responded to see what they had to offer. That went through much more quickly.
They've since sent me an email with another offer, £4 less per month than what they offered last time. I've ignored that.
She would always like to say,
Why change the past when you can own this day?

I was just checking when my Dad's offers/contract were due to end and it's July. However when I was checking I noticed he'd received an email in April to say that they were extending his current offers for one more year and he didn't need to do anything. The only one not listed is the £5 in contract discount but checking his future bill for August they're still including that even though he would then be out of contract at that point. Obviously he could recontract and get the discount back on but as that would be for 18 months and the offers have only been extended by 12 months, I wouldn't do that.

I'll need to keep an eye on this one.

So you are saying that TV (in general) is a luxury and not  essential ?
What about a mobile phone ?

Subscription tv is a luxury for me and a mobile phone is not essential for me.
  • I have cancelled my contract after 8 years, they have offered me Sky Signature for £17 per month, is this considered a good deal? Currently only Sky Entertainment.
