I’ve cancelled and the /mydeal has improved immediately but not enough yet for me to bite
I doubt it will get any better. What is it offering and what is your expectation?

Having had 2 or 3 days of "live chat" with the "value" team who just took me in circles and at very best could only save me £98 over 18 months I used a number off here for "Customer Retention" - I had to pretend to the automated system that I did not know my password (or it just booted me off saying I am in contract until 2020) in order to get to speak to an "actual" real person. The result - a saving of £147.91 over 18 months. So, whilst it is not massive I have saved nearly £50 extra over 18 months by initially using live chat (so I would have some "I have tried this and they just got confusing" ammunition to the retentions team) then going to the "retentions/cancellation team"

    Currently pm:

    £ 6.01 Fibre Broadband (£13.99 pm discount)
£15.00 Sky Entertainment TV (£10 pm discount)
£23.00 Sky Sports Full Package (£5 pm discount)
    £ 5.00 Sky Kids TV

£16.49 Sky Telephone Line Rental (£2.50 pm discount)
    _________
£65.50 though for 6 months it is £63.50 as they removed the £2 pm you have to pay for Sports HD

After 30 years of mortgage paying we are blessed to say we are MORTGAGE FREE 11 years early :)
  • The “my deal” link takes me straight to online chat too, even when logged in. And the my offers section of my account says unable to proceed and gives me a number to ring.

My best deal was entertainment £15, boxsets £1, kids £1, hd £1, cinema £9 and that was during cancellation period, so £27 in total. This went up by £2 after my tv went off, cinema went up to £11.

I agree at the moment people are unlikely to do much better. My parents tv has been off for quite a while now and the best they’ve had through the post was entertainment at £11.

Have to say I really thought I’d miss Sky tv but so far I haven’t.

Entertainment + full sports were £42, after cancelling it became £32 but I’ve seen low £20s and I’d settle with mid to high £20s.

I think you will struggle with that expectation.
Full price entertainment is £22 and Sports is £30, £52 total.
you have been offered £32 which is approx a 38% discount, that's good going for the limited channels that you are opting for.
The more you add on, the more likely you will be to get a better deal, i.e. you are of more value to them.

    Hi folks,

I've just cancelled my Sky TV, Broadband and Line Rental.

Been with Sky 12 years, and the last few years I've been on a 50% discount, usually ringing up when I move in to the last 31 days of my contract though last year I just got a letter through the door from Sky saying they had automatically applied my 50% discount for another 12 months and only needing to get in touch if I don't want to do so.

My subscriptions run out March 2nd so I've cancelled everything today to end on the 2nd.

Currently paying £51.74 though that goes up to £97.50 when the discouts end. First time speaking to them on the messaging service I got offered a mix of discounts that totalled up to £51.99 but they also charge a £20 admin fee now apparently that would effectively mean my total monthly cost would be £53.10 on an 18 month contract as that is also apparently what they offer now. This was however with losing my talk package (£4) and the kids channels). I'm on an old package (Variety) and now Kids are separate from Entertainment so i don't actually want kids channels. But still, I'm effectively paying more to lose some channels and my calls package.

I have played hardball and said I'd think about it and shortly after spoke to someone directly on the 'values team' number to see if I could get a better offer through them. Got a worse offer so for now I have actioned the cancellation.

I've heard in the past about people getting offers through their Sky box and also on their online Sky account, are these still a regular thing? I've also heard that week 3 after cancellation is the week where you tend to get the best offers to stay with them, so again is that a current trend or one from the past?

I don't currently have my Sky Box connected to my router so I'll need to do that to see if I have any offers on my box.

I could live with £53.10 whilst losing the kids channels and talk package at the end of the day as I don't need either at all, but I'd rather get a better deal if possible.

if you are still in contract, probably you can't, but you could ask.
I don't understand your TV package breakdown, you can't be paying £39.50 for box sets?
You should be targeting approximately £15 for entertainment
    £1-£2 box sets
    £10 Cinema
    £1 HD
    £12 Q experience
This would halve your TV pack.
You can easily get your phone / broadband down to £30, and then look at £5 for the anytime extra (do you use this feature or could you use your mobile phones more and exclude it completely?)

Considering new customers can get Sky Fibre Max + Sky Entertainment for £42 a month for 24 months (Includes line rental & Sky Talk, £39.95 one-off cost) it's too much. Ask about moving to Entertainment + HD if it suits. That will cost you £22+£5 full price, don't forget the BB is separate and isn't tied in. What BB do you have? ADSL or fibre?
